Hi Mike I am a true Brian Sparkes follower. This video (which I have only just come across) is absolutely brilliant. The "feeling" in the golf swing is as you say the most vital aspect of the Easiest Swing. I have adopted the heel to toe and toe to heel move with great success, in fact the action of swing from toe to heel starts my downswing. Thanks for a great video.

Again, Great improvement on the teachings of Ernest Jones. I must convince myself to get away from the analysis by paralysis methodologies of modern golf coaching. Thank God I am not on tour. I play Golf for the potential joy of being able to play this wonderful, mystical game. Keep up the good work.

Thanks again Charles. Hopefully we can both spread the word about playing golf as a game - rather than as a technical pursuit. Fred Shoemaker has a lovely phrase “ Don’t confuse the goal of the game ( scoring lower) with the PURPOSE of the game ( which can be anything you decide!)”

I shot 73 listening to this video and following Bobby Jones 3 principles. It was weird as a 5 handicap. I was detached from outcomes and didn't think much. I had a relaxed concentration. I dont use "easiest swing" because I'm too aggressive in downswing and come over the top but I adhered to your teaching. Do a video on why 99% of all golfers come over the top or really why 99% of all golfers "swing too hard" and why "easiest swing" is so hard to perform!!!!

Glad that it helped . That phrase that you used “ detached from outcomes “ seems to be crucial to playing our best golf , doesn’t it ? We can choose to place our ATTENTION on either the club and our body ( as the video suggests ) or we can place our attention on the ball and the golf course . So it’s a choice . CLUB - BODY - BALL - COURSE . It looks like when your attention is placed on the first two you play your best golf ! Just in time for the Masters ! Enjoy your golf , Mike .

Great video - with your emphasis on feel would you advise playing without a golf glove ? Thank you Mike

Hi Roy, Glad you liked the video. I would only advise playing without a glove if you have your clubs re gripped every 12 months and your grips are always clean and tacky. Enjoy your golf.

Hi Martyn, Lovely to hear from you. Hope things are going well for you and your family in Canada. Jenny and I have moved from Jersey to Shropshire approx. 18 months ago and I have retired. Joined a lovely club called Enville. Always said “ I’ll give up golf when I have to take a headcover off on a par3!!” Turns out I won’t! Enjoy your golf, Mike

Feel is very important in golf and I agree with every thing you ve said. I have played this game 4 close 2 55yrs. I ve had heaps of lessons from pro s over those years: read countless instructional books and watched heaps of vids on golf swing etc which helped 2 a certain extent, but on comp day, when it all counts, things don t work out like they did on the practice range. Why do u think this is?

Hi George, We all feel like you! When I was coaching there were 2 questions which were asked more than any others. “ How do I take my driving range game onto the course?” And “ how do I get more consistency?” The correct answers are “ you will never hit the ball as well on the course, as you do on the range” and “ you will never be totally consistent!” Once you acknowledge these facts then the process of developing your best and most enjoyable golf game can start. When we step on the 1st tee, everyone would like to perform well / get your handicap lower/ get bragging rights for the next week, etc. The problem is that if all your focus is on PERFORMANCE then you will always feel under a lot of ( self inflicted) pressure. Next time you play go with a mindset of also ENJOYING the game. Be grateful for such beautiful surroundings with your best friends close at hand.So often forgotten. Also use the next 18 holes for LEARNING. Notice the feeling of your swings on the range and simply compare it to the course swings. Noticing these differences is the “secret” to bridging the gap between range / course. These differences cannot be noticed if you are focused only on results. You could also play to enjoy the feeling of your body moving gracefully. Children enjoy this feeling just as much as a sweetly struck shot. That is why they get 28 shots off their handicap in one summer. They have the balance of PERFORMANCE ENJOYMENT. LEARNING ENJOYMENT and LEARNING must come first. Performance will always follow. Let me know how it’s progressing, Mike

Something really interesting I saw recently was a drill where you pick up a club with your eyes closed and try to get the club head square as you take your golf grip.

good to see how easy swing coaches differ. if you pause you swing after impact you are still looking at the ball and head down where brians head turns so early way before he hits it, proves there is not one way even with easy swing

Hi Tony. I’ve been working on allowing my head to turn in time with my body for a while now - but it’s still a work in progress !!! I’m sure that I was attracted to Easiest Swing due to me starting to question beliefs like “ keep your head down”. This was drummed into me from an early age. It feels so much easier when I allow it to turn - watch this space for further progress. Enjoy your golf.
