La Danse du Golf, the blueprint of the Easiest Swing - Sean Herron, Senior Coach Specialist

Спорт

La Danse du Golf is the blueprint of the Easiest Swing and I see too many golfers who aren´t doing a dansing very well. So I have decided to take La Danse apart a little and point out some common mistakes people make and how to correct them. I also explain the benefits of La Danse and how you can integrate it into your golf game. Please fnd here the clip from Ben Hogan that I mention in the video that is very closely related to La Danse. • BEN HOGAN Five Lessons...

When I took up golf a few years ago (as a “senior”) my constant golf buddy, who had been playing for about 20 years, appeared to have an unorthodox, too relaxed, swing. But, he always outscored me (even after I started taking traditional lessons.) A couple years ago I came across Brian Sparks’ KZread videos and quickly realized that my golf buddy was using La Danse du Golf (despite never having heard of La Danse or Brian or his style); he had just allowed his body to naturally develop a swing that seems a carbon copy of Brian’s (even to the point of playing with the ball back in his stance some). I stopped taking lessons that were trying to get me to emulate athletic golfers a third my age and concentrated on watching my golf buddy and Brian’s videos. My game is now enjoyable, my body doesn’t ache the day after a round, and I even occasionally can out score my golf buddy. Although the reality is that we both play more for relaxation and enjoyment of the game and the various courses than numbers on a scorecard. Keep up the good work of La Danse du golf and la joie de vivre.

This video makes golf seem more simplistic which is how it should be. I just recently got back in to golf and all of these trainers and videos are making things so difficult and technical. It almost makes the game not fun anymore. Just got to relax and swing my natural swing and play some bogey golf. If I get a birdie or two and some pars hell yeah it’s a good day if not oh well I’ll still have fun. Thanks for sharing this informative video.

You’re right about the importance of the detail. Recently been working hard on the balanced finish and also concentrating on getting my head and eyes follow the ball and not keeping my head down. I can’t over emphasize the importance of this.

It works! I was an 8 handicap 20 years ago and then quit golfing entirely until about a year ago. It was like starting over and I had trouble breaking 100 most days. I tried everything ... conventional, stack & tilt, vertical PPGS, single plane, etc. All methods very heavy on correct mechanics. Nothing felt intuitive or natural. Just watched this, went out to my net, erased all old thoughts from my brain and hit 20 effortless solid shots in a row without thinking a wit about mechanics. It can't be this simple, can it?!

Good morning from Ontario, Canada. I try to get to the golf course at least once per week. About a month ago, I was playing the best golf of my life. My drives were long and straight and my iron shots seemed consistently good. I made the mistake of viewing some of the highly technical golf tutorials available on KZread thinking that they could only but improve my game. Was I wrong. I quickly learned that the more I watched the worse I got. In an attempt to find out what went wrong, I stumbled on your video and soon realized the huge mistake I had made. I'm looking forward to getting back on the course and putting your advice into play. Cheers.

  • 2 жыл бұрын

Hi Alfie Yes a common mistake among average golfers is to look for technical solutions and only end up getting confused and stuck in the wrong part of the brain. We have many subscribers who find us and become ES fans and incorporate our philosophy into their game and then after some time if they have a bad game or two they revert to the old ways. However, in time, most of them come back realizing that looking for technical solutions often makes their golf worse. Simplicity is key and all you really need is a few basic guidelines.. Thank you for sharing your story

  • @antonygoodacre8276

This is very similar method to what ' Flow Motion' teaches and in my opinion is the ONLY way golf should be teached. For years I would watch Mark Crossfield, Me and my golf and all the other KZread instructional videos that would just bog me down with technical thoughts on the course. Things like what position I should be in at each point of the swing, and it would completely kill my game. Now using this simple method I enjoy playing and play better than I ever imagined. Just keep it simple people, golf is made difficult by to much technical instruction when all we have to do is find OUR OWN natural swing.

When scanning KZread for golf videos, there are so many which promise “increase your distance by (some unbelievable number) of yards”. I have been practicing La Danse for a bit, at home and on the range, then finally took it to the course, by myself, but then played with a vague acquaintance. The course is the true test, so much tension with doing everything correctly. La Danse has not promised me to increase my distance; the result was just the opposite, guessing maybe 20 yards less per drive. However, it was the most enjoyable round I have played in years: most everything went where aimed even if not hit 100% and best of all, I felt relaxed and had a good time. Ready for more videos, but nothing rushed, in a “Easiest” fashion, and more golf for this 82 year old handicap index 25. Thank you so much. Now for my next video……

Your reference to Ben Hogan is spot on, If any one out there is fortunate to find a copy of a great book called Ben Hogan's Magical Device Ted Hunt 2009, it explains this amazing connection Hogan had with both arms to the body in his swing. Your videos show and explain this to a Tee, so thank you Sean.

  • 4 жыл бұрын

Thanks Jerry! I will have to ask Brian if he has read the book you mention. It seems that this book may actually be genuinely written by Hogan. After having written his own book, Brian is adamant that there is no way Hogan could have completed his book, Hogan´s Five Lessons, in a year whilst playing on tour at the same time. He also argues that Hogan would not have made the book so complicated and actually he suspects Hogan simply signed his name to something that someone else actually produced. @ I absolutely concur with what Brian thought. While many have lauded it over the years, I found it completely ruined my game for a year (I mentioned my obsession with golf instructional books elsewhere in this video’s comments). While TFF’s explained many concepts that were before unsaid (plane angles for one), it was overly technical. I couldn’t swing effectively with that grip (I get that it was designed to make his swing almost “hook proof” (something he had struggled with previously), but it was abnormally weak and demanded constant practice. Also, the swing needed you start the downswing before the upswing stopped (an admirable trait but difficult to do when your backswing is much shorter and flatter). Finally, trying to supinate my wrist at impact almost broke it in overdoing it. I look back on that swing compared to the Easiest Swing, and it’s as much night vs day you can be. The Five Fundamentals is just too technical to have been written by Hogan himself while playing and winning major titles at the same time.

terrific video Sean, i think there is a growing movement of golfers who are realizing the folly of 'positional' technical golf instruction, which has after 60 or so years failed to significantly in any way improve the 'quality' and scoring ability of the greater mass of golfers. You mention golfers of old lifting their heel, virtually every 'great' golfer from Vardon and his contemporaries up to Greg Norman lifted their left heels, many of those greats also let their right hip do a big fluent turn in contrast to the 'restrained' hip creating 'torque' mumbo jumbo, we the 'mass' of golfers need to turn back the clock somewhat and learn to build hand/eye co-ordination and gain greater awareness of the clubhead, swing that clubhead fluently your bodies will react and work naturally for you. And your 'easiest' swing' is so much less damaging to one's body as well of course. Cheers en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Braid_Taylor_Vardon.png harry vardon + the great triumvirate www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwipusXa76XlAhUp5eAKHaxeAzkQjRx6BAgBEAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DvN3Uc_EhnnY&psig=AOvVaw3TQhvtbRMlB4-LFND5oC-K&ust=1571490269574562 greg norman

  • 4 жыл бұрын

Jardine Sydney nobody really knows how the planting of the target foot on the backswing came about and became the norm. It kind of just happened. A lot of swing fads have come and gone over the years but this one has stuck. (Although there are a few older players out there, like Paul Casey, who are beginning to change that to protect their back). I am still not convinced the coil method produces more distance for the top players and I am convinced it definitely does not for the rest of us. It is important to remember that even by leaving the heel planted the tour players turn more than the average golfer. So what’s important to remember here is that turn is everything and it takes great flexibility and strength to achieve this if you are going to make it work for you. Not to mention the risk that it can wreck your back.

Great video. At @4:40 you reassure us not to worry about our weight going to the outside of our non-target foot. Is that for the LDG but still not preferable in the actual golf swing or something we don't need to worry about at all? Thanks.

  • 4 жыл бұрын

The weight shifting to the outside of the foot is not something to be too concerned about for the actual golf swing. Too much emphasis is given to keeping the weight on the inside of the right foot and the result for a lot of golfers is no weight shift at all. It is important to get the 6 basics, including the turn and the weight shift. And if you have to allow the weight to go to the outside of the right foot in order to do that then so be it. What I will stress though, is to make sure you shift the weight forward on the downswing/forward swing towards the target. I will be doing a video about this next week.

It is crucial that you get the synergy needed to achieve distance with such an easy movement. By that I mean you have to make sure everything is moving in sync, together, like a one piece swing. On the forward swing I like to think of a car rolling down a hill to get a feel for the acceleration towards and through the ball with that oomph just before impact. Hope this helps

Now I have multiple disc issues in my back and I wasn’t able to use my Driver more than 8-10 times a round. The Easiest Swing has been a godsend, and I’ve enjoyed catching up on yours and Brians’s videos. Julian has sooooo many, it’s hard to pick and choose. Thank you for all you’ve done for us in helping us learn or remember what it’s like to actually enjoy the game, and not look at is a “grind” like it had become!!!

@@lawrencecirillo3233 Great to receive messages like this Lawrence! Julian is no longer with us at the Easiest Swing - It appears he has gone back somewhat to the conventional way of coaching with breaking down the swing and producing many, many videos. And so I invite you to please have a look at our new Easiest Swing videos and our new ES channel. The videos are of a much higher quality and I am certain you will get more out of them. Sean, I’ve purchased Brian’s book and once I recover from knee replacement surgery I will give this my best effort. I have one question. Since we are employing connection of the arms to the torso is it a passive arms and hands swing or are you firing the arms and hands once the club gets near the bottom. Hope that makes sense.

  • 3 жыл бұрын

Hi Gary, you want to be accelerating through the impact zone with the fastest part of the swing just after the ball. Firing the arms and hands as the club nears the bottom of the swing can give the extra oomph needed to achieve this. I would definitely recommend purchasing a Swing Caddy or Hole-in-one club to help you practice the timing thanks to it’s clicking sound. If you would like to, you can purchase one on the link below and make sure to use the code SOSPAH to get a 10% discount. easiestswing.com/our-products/

This concept looks very appealing. However, watch his actual full swing when hitting a ball. His turn looks nothing like his practice turn. His hips don't turn nearly as much as his shoulders, and he keeps his head down on the ball. Looks very conventional, actually.

And his lead foot heel doesn't lift nearly as far, either. Just sayin.

@@thesquatch9363 The hips are not supposed to turn as much as the shoulders. We are simply not trying to create the X-Factor where there a forced resistance or coil between the hips and shoulders. And, even though my head could be turning more towards the target at impact it is still well on its way so you cannot honestly say this is conventional. The main point here my friend is that you have the intention to let the hips turn and allow the heel to lift to facilitate that turn and then through impact to not try to keep the head down but allow it to turn through. Even if we don´t get it perfect the fact that you have the intention to do it helps create more movement and turn.

@ So, it's more of a feeling that we're trying to produce, freeing up the body to turn naturally. I actually do like the concept a lot. The conventional way has been around for a long time and amateurs have NOT improved markedly by using it. Kudos, Sean, this is definitely worth a go.

@@thesquatch9363 yes it’s about challenging the idea that we have to be in a straightjacket when we swing the club. Allow yourself to danse more freely and move more.
