    I am left handed playing golf right handed. I am trying to use the easiest golf swing techniques . However, when I get to the down swing I am confused. If I use my right shoulder and hand I feel like I am going over the top. If I use my left arm it feels like I am pulling the hands into the ball. That feels better to me. I tried that yesterday and when I connected it felt effortless and got good distance. Am I right in this belief?

  • @mikedeeley7504

    Hi Michael, Thanks for your question on the downswing . Consider the phrase -DOWN……SWING . This term implies that we allow things that SWING (our arms )to fall DOWN to the ball. Neither shoulders or hands can swing as well as arms can . Hopefully this explains why using your left ARM was more helpful to you than using your right SHOULDER and HAND. Hope this helps , Mike

    I shot 73 listening to this video and following Bobby Jones 3 principles. It was weird as a 5 handicap. I was detached from outcomes and didn't think much. I had a relaxed concentration. I dont use "easiest swing" because I'm too aggressive in downswing and come over the top but I adhered to your teaching. Do a video on why 99% of all golfers come over the top or really why 99% of all golfers "swing too hard" and why "easiest swing" is so hard to perform!!!!

  • @mikedeeley7504

    Glad that it helped . That phrase that you used “ detached from outcomes “ seems to be crucial to playing our best golf , doesn’t it ? We can choose to place our ATTENTION on either the club and our body ( as the video suggests ) or we can place our attention on the ball and the golf course . So it’s a choice . CLUB - BODY - BALL - COURSE . It looks like when your attention is placed on the first two you play your best golf ! Just in time for the Masters ! Enjoy your golf , Mike .

    Feel is very important in golf and I agree with every thing you ve said. I have played this game 4 close 2 55yrs. I ve had heaps of lessons from pro s over those years: read countless instructional books and watched heaps of vids on golf swing etc which helped 2 a certain extent, but on comp day, when it all counts, things don t work out like they did on the practice range. Why do u think this is?

  • @mikedeeley7504
    @mikedeeley75043 жыл бұрын

    Hi George, We all feel like you! When I was coaching there were 2 questions which were asked more than any others. “ How do I take my driving range game onto the course?” And “ how do I get more consistency?” The correct answers are “ you will never hit the ball as well on the course, as you do on the range” and “ you will never be totally consistent!” Once you acknowledge these facts then the process of developing your best and most enjoyable golf game can start. When we step on the 1st tee, everyone would like to perform well / get your handicap lower/ get bragging rights for the next week, etc. The problem is that if all your focus is on PERFORMANCE then you will always feel under a lot of ( self inflicted) pressure. Next time you play go with a mindset of also ENJOYING the game. Be grateful for such beautiful surroundings with your best friends close at hand.So often forgotten. Also use the next 18 holes for LEARNING. Notice the feeling of your swings on the range and simply compare it to the course swings. Noticing these differences is the “secret” to bridging the gap between range / course. These differences cannot be noticed if you are focused only on results. You could also play to enjoy the feeling of your body moving gracefully. Children enjoy this feeling just as much as a sweetly struck shot. That is why they get 28 shots off their handicap in one summer. They have the balance of PERFORMANCE ENJOYMENT. LEARNING ENJOYMENT and LEARNING must come first. Performance will always follow. Let me know how it’s progressing, Mike

    Just found your channel tonight and watched a couple of videos hate to see you retired from coaching. I’m from Texas and everything is open here. Hope you continue to post videos I subscribed to your channel. All the golf coaches in Europe seem to be much more laidback than here in the U.S. I’m a retired firefighter and play golf at least twice a week if something doesn’t come up with me tending my cows or competing on my horses. I would love to learn the easiest swing in golf but even at my age I think I’m still wired too tight to ever master it lol. Hope to hear more from you in the future. Thanks.

    Hi Larry, Glad that you liked the videos. Where you live sounds idyllic- we’ve just moved out to the country ourselves . So currently learning about gardening and trying to keep squirrels ( critters?)out of the roof space! Give yourself some time to develop an “ Easier Swing”. It sounds like you already sense that there might be tension in your game - so as you play / practice focus on where that tension is located in your body and give it a value from 1 to 10. ( 1 being really relaxed and 10 being super tense) If you decide that you feel tension in your arms, say about 8, simply hit some shots gradually bringing this down to a 5 or 6. Exercises like this will allow you to develop an awareness of tension yourself, without having to bother with golf coaches!! Enjoy your golf, Mike

    @@mikedeeley7504 yes Mike, I coach High School golf. This is only my third year. There was an opening for a golf coach so I took the position. I had literally given up the game out of frustration. So when I took the coaching position I had to figure out how to coach this game. I looked on KZread, found Easiest Swing and the rest is history. I took three months of on line lessons from Julian. I took some individual lessons from Sean Herron on line too. I discovered Ron Owens of Indiana USA and I did one month of on line with him. I plan to go to Indiana to have in person lessons with Ron once the Pandemic allows us to travel. I am a late in life school teacher. I retired from tbeing Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ after 36 years of full time work. I had been a school teacher before I became a minister so I returned to the classroom. I plan on retiring from teaching in 4 years, I'll be 70. My hope at that time is to be proficient enough in golf coaching to move south, I live in New York State, and coach golf as a profession. It's good to dream. Thanks again for your posts. I really like how you teach.

    @@mikedeeley7504 I wasn't pointing out any faults in your swing (Looks fine to me). I mean, when you're shifting your weight from the front to the back foot, your head (Not the head of the golf club) moves with the rest of the body. However, when your addressing or going to hit the ball, the head stays in the same place looking over the ball, & this naturally restricts the turn. I think anyway. It wasn't a criticism mate. I think you come across really clearly.

How much freedom you allow your head to have is best illustrated by a KZread video titled “ the eye of the tiger.” This shows that Tiger Woods head had a swing along with his club and body. Hi Richard, Here are some thoughts to help with muddy lies. 1. Adjust your club selection to at least 1 extra club ( ie an 8 instead of a 9 iron) so that even a miss hit will finish on the front of the green. 2. Picture the club striking down on the ball .This concept allows you to contact the ground after the ball. 3. Check if it’s casual water and get a free drop!! Enjoy your golf, Mike

    1. Well, you can't hit a ball without swinging it or levering it but you have to have a club to hit the ball...I'll take "with a club". 2. Currently, my club head is doing what I want it to. It is coming in square, not steep more of a sweep and fast enough. 3. Yes, practice is less work this way and more fun because I have found that I cannot apply force like pushing a car to get a golf ball to go long and straight. I'm just turning to my right and then turning to my left.....swinging my arms with my body while the hands are just hanging on to the club. It's so easy. No work involved except mental control. Want to turn it into a feeling. 4. Definitely the motion. It's what I always wanted. To be able to hit a golf ball just as easy as I can throw one.....mentally. Once I feel the motion it's like riding a bicycle, you never forget. 5. I like feeling but you have to know what and why. Otherwise you can get lost if a problem shows up. 6. What's the sense of having freedom if you have no control? Shoot 106 and feel great because I felt so free? Not hardly. I'll take the control.

  • @FredCDobbs-er4qd

    Not only a loose grip but loose everything seems to be key. You are right. If I get the club back far enough I won't need any added force. Fact is, if I try to add more power I will ruin the shot. Going by what I see when the ball stops rolling is that I felt like I was just "easing one out there" yet it's both longer and much more on target than with a "torque" swing. Video was very good. Clear instructions, no complaints at all.
