😂i have an old earth way 101 planter. I got mine in 1983. Then only problem i have had with mine is with the okra plate. Round seeds would try to get under the plate and frame. I cleaned the inside of hopper and the back of seed then put paste wax on both surfaces. Now works great. My plate is white.

Nice to see real time video! For some it might be a bit of a pain to remove and replace the peanut butter lid as you change seed plates but it will save seed! A hack worth trying!

After running it this way a season. It does ok. Pellet seed gets ground up and binds up the seed plate some but it’s manageable.

Я к семенам подмешиваю немного талька из детской присыпки.Это делает их скользкими и уменьшает трение между диском и стенкой бункера.

My only complaint has been with very fine round seeds. It likes to grind up kohlrabi seeds into a meal cracking each seed until 3-4 pieces! Not good hot germinating! It has performed flawlessly with corn, peas, carrots, buckwheat and rye…. It even handled home harvested carrot seeds that still had burrs on the seeds either no problems. I might try something like this.

Only thing with the earthway seeder is they need to put a disc opener on it.

I would try gluing a metal washer to each plate.

The jang is 1000% worth it but it will cost you 500 for it with out any seed plates then they are like 30 bucks a piece and I highly recommend the double disc attachment

Agree. All I’ve read is the Jang is best in class. We will get one at some point I’m sure. In the mean time I’ve been impressed with this unit. I’m editing the video tonight showing us planting 300 row feet in 6 minutes with the earthway. Pleasant surprise so far…

@Boats N Hoes N Mo that's great I still use my earthway for cover crops and to sidedress dry amendments, but I still say spend the money if your doing baby greens or carrots at all for production it's a game changer

How about a chain link fence aluminum corner post cap

Your channel might grow better if you have part 2 easier to find.

so just thinking about your modification.... What if you used 2 small nuts as jam nuts under the lid. That way you could set the friction loose on actual mechanism. Then you could just snug the peanut butter lid just enough to hold plate and it wouldn't be responsible in adding friction to the gear mechanism. Cool video

Good suggestion! So far it’s working pretty well with just the wingnut and washer. Now in season 2 using it. Planted about 1000 bed feet last week of a variety of seeds with no issues.

I have the same earthway seeder a was kind of disappointed with the results of using it with sunflower seeds. The chute kept jamming up.

Everything I’ve seen is any chute clogging check for spiderwebs in the chute. They can cause seeds to hang/jam in the chute bend.

I've had the same issue with black oil sunflower seed. It works enough to definitely be worth the price and ease compared to hand sowing.
