@@kawaiigamergirl4432 I prefer the lore that the Watchers were trying to sabotage him, giving him tasks to prevent him from making friends and keeping him isolated. But it backfired and he won despite their tampering, not because of it.

The fact that both Scott and Pearl offered up their lives for their ally, but where Gem took it, Scar refused? That parallel was perfection, and they didn't even know they'd done it.

Scott and scar both made the right decision tbh. Scott was at 3 hearts before being killed by Gem. No matter what, he was going to die first. Pearl was at 15 hearts. If Scar had taken the sacrifice, there’s no guarantee that he can beat Gem in a PvP fight. But with Pearl’s help taking her out it was basically a guarantee top 2.

@@mysticalmaid I watched gems pov as well, she was actually pretty low even with just scar beating her up, I mean if there wasn't two she may have won but honestly scars pretty good at pvp better than her like to admit at least

can we just admire how well this interptates how scar never wanted to be a villian but was forced to bc of the "secert keepers"/tasks and he was forced to become the villian he always tryed to make friends but it was just not destiny this timeline i like to call the life series each season diffrent timelines.

As I see it, there can be one rough timeline made, Third life happened in the Early middle ages around 700 AD, Last Life happened around 1400, Double Life happened sometime around 1850-1950, Secret Life happened in the 1980s, and Limited life happened in the 1990s after Etho and Cleo's divorce.

God the part with Gem makes me legitimately sad. Like Scott and Gem tried so so hard and did so well, but it barely made a difference. Gem still died next despite Scott’s sacrifice.

@@kawaiigamergirl4432 Plus, the tasks keeping him out of alliances also meant he wouldn't become emotionally dependent on those allies. So many people fell on the sword for their allies in the final battle, only for it to not make a difference. But Scar had no such allies. He just went where the wind took him, as Grian would put it.

​@@Gardivanyth This is the telltale sign that Scar will win. Just like the previous winner. (Grian with his green kill, Scott not doing what the boogeyman curse told him to, Pearl who's lonely when everyone else has their pair, and Martyn with his deceive and disloyalty where every other group fight for their allies till the end.) When you think about it, everyone except Scott ended up alone. Grian got betrayed by Scar and the two fight in the end, Pearl was abandoned by Scott since the start, Martyn betray Scott near the end, and Scar who's everyone enemy this season. Only Scott who's different. And I find that quite interesting. (And I suppose we found another new pattern to guess the next winner.)

OH MY GODDDDD that parallels between Gem choosing to honor Scott's sacrifices versus Scar refusing to sacrifice Pearl THAT GOES CRAZY!!!! Especially considering Scar has been in her position. Pearl has been in SCAR's position. This is absolutely incredible I need to lay down for a million years.

In a way Grian played a huge role in Scar's win by reducing Gem's health by a ton with the tnt. So it's basically full circle from 3rd life.

@@mercy9375 I agree that his his pvp was very amazing but the tnt was the thing that blew through about 3 rows of Gem's hearts while his pvp got rid of about half a row of hearts from her. If he never did the tnt explosion she more than likely would have survived much longer and could have probably defeated Scar and won the game.

I don't think any of them want a repeat victor and Scott is very good at surviving to near the end. Pearl tried to do the same thing to ensure scar would win. Since they don't want to win they are better off supporting their allies.

@@cup_of_tea755 yeah, you can kinda tell that pearl wanted scar to win at the end, pearl had an insane bow and despite that she tried to go into a melee fight (knowing that scar had a much greater sword and a heart advantage) and pearl also had a couple gapples in her inventory that she could've easily used at any point in the fight so it definitely does seem like they dont want repeat winners which is understandable but i would still like to see scott or pearl to win another

Scar’s victory was so poetic honestly. He tried the entire season to make friends, but the Keeper forced him into becoming the villain and, therefore, alone. He then finally gets a crew, feels like he’s finally made friends, even denies Pearl’s offer to kill her for his victory! But then suddenly, in the heat of the moment, he finds himself the winner, yet alone again I’m flabbergasted that you made this in this short amount of time. That, and the fact that this is exactly what I was hoping for from the Lifers animatic community! You are a legend, Rusty, now go get some rest with that crown on your head ❤️

This series was definitely Scar's storyline. The way the plot was being built up for him was just amazing! And all the butterfly effects in this season!!! I look forward to seeing more animations.

This is great. He was made to be the villain, and in a way he did embrace it... but _only_ as far as needed. I love how Gem's acceptance of Scott's sacrifice was contrasted against Scar's refusal to get the extra hearts from Pearl, which ultimately got him one step closer to victory when he and Pearl overcame Gem.

I think Earth is the perfect thing to represent Scar, as he was lonely the entire time, despite the others around him. Similar to how life developed on Earth. Scar is also a master of terraforming the earth beneath his feet.

​@@solarprogeny6736 It's just a fandom thing. Grian's name translates to Sun. Scott was a Starborne on the origins SMP. Pearl, of course, is Pearlescentmoon. The sun, the moon, and the stars. When Martyn won fans wanted to fit him into that space theme as well, and now scar has joined them.

Someone on tumblr said Scar should be Mercury, I'll paste what they said here: First, the god Mercury. Mercury (or Hermes, as he is more popularly known) is the god of "financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication (including divination), travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery, and thieves" (Wikipedia). This encapsulates Scar's role in the series-but especially Secret Life-near perfectly. This alone was enough to convince me he should be Mercury. But there's more! Second, Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Grian, as everyone who's gotten this far down the post should know, is represented by the Sun. That is his symbol. Scar is always going to Grian. They've been allies twice in the series, and were almost allies again in Secret Life. Scar is always close to Grian, whether either of them like it be or not. Lastly, but certainly not least, Mercury has no moons. This one is a bit of a double reason! Two reasons in a trenchcoat! First, Scar has had no true allies this season. He's made some temporary friendships, but he never found a teammate. If we imagine the moons as representative of allies, then Mercury having no moons is rather symbolic, I would think. (Does this make Lizzie Venus? Idk.) The second aspect of this reason, is to do with Pearl. As you probably know, Pearl is the Moon. Scar won when he killed Pearl. Scar became Mercury when he got rid of the Moon. Mercury has no Moon.

The parallels of Scar and Pearl is insane to me. Pearl had no friends in Double Life, and was the winner. Scar had no one friends in Secret Life, and was the winner. Their characters were there for each other when they needed each other. The improv of the series is amazing, and the stories that the fan base comes up with through the similarities will always be amazing to me. ❤

I like how you showed the parallel between Scott sacrificing himself to Gem, and Gem killing him, and then Pearl trying to sacrifice herself to Scar, but he didn't kill her.

That frame of scar at the end with all the past winners hits. Remember when he was talking to pearl and bdubs and pearl saying how she feels bad going after skizz/tango because they've been so nice and Scar says "it's just nothing after this".

ExCUSE me!??!! So good!!! What!!!! Oh my gosh!! I loooved the parallel of Scar and Pearl vs Gem and Scott!! I thought that was such a poignant moment in the series, and to see it here like this…ah!! Goosebumps!! Love it!!

He’s ABSOLUTELY represented by The Earth! Nature motifs, the secret keeper stone, and a fiery chaotic warmth at its core.

Same, It shows off the remaining mounders that scar would team up with and shows one of the pivotal moments of the episode. I only wish the shot showing the gem and the Scott’s somehow showed the 3v1 against grian

I love how both Scott and Pearl offered to sacrifice themselves for their respective allies, Gem and Scar, and while Gem took it, Scar didn't, and they won because they fought Gem together. It's so beautiful how when Scar finally got friends, he treated them well. (Minus how he immediately started to kill Pearl afterwards but we pretend it was more elegant)

I like to think of the final fight between scar and pearl as a reluctant battle neither wanted to win but the winner had to be decided.

crazy how Scar spent the entire season trying to make friends and form good allies only to be shut out by the secret keeper forcing him to be a villain, then decided to embrace the villain role and won. thats a really good arc for the watcher's lore imo "How did the guy with no friends win?" - Scar's last words.

0:19 This part gets to me for some reason. Seeing Grian's facial change when scar rejects him is so ironic. In past seasons, Scar was known as the one who would die quickly, and it was a burden to be stuck with him. Seeing Grian so desperate for a friend and getting rejected by the one he is always stuck with is so cool to me. It shows how forced into the villain role that scar had to play.

Scar representing Earth is so fitting. The Life series feels complete, as far as that bit of Lore goes.

I love Sleeping at Last and I'm insane over how well Earth fits not just lyrically but symbolically. I've seen a lot of people saying Scar should be Earth and this just cements it in my mind. This is so so amazing

WOW this is incredible! The contrast between Scott sacrifing himself to Gem for hearts and Scar not accepting Pearl's offer is beatiful! This season has become my absolute favorite, I've been rooting for Scar since Third Life. Also having Gem on the series was just the best, I didn't know her before and she became one of my main POVs. Every interaction she had with Scar was great, I hope they get to team up in a future season!

The man who could relate to the Scarlet Pearl best ends up as her final ally. That is so touching.

This got very emotional, really wished BigB won because of the circumstances from limited life and so i became sad when the end was spoiled in my youtube feed before watching session9. After watching multiple POV's i never expected how Scar was going to win this season, it has made me happy and i hope some of you also loved how it all fits perfectly within the life series :)

He didn’t even want to win or be the villain. The ones who wrote the tasks turned him into the accidental victor. All hail Scar the bow master of the Life Series.

Dang the switch between Scott and Pearl sacrificing themselves, but playing out differently. Lots of parallels in this season.

The ending all boils down to Gem accepting Scott sacrifice while Scar rejecting Pearl's. Very poetic until you realizes Scar don't have allies and straight up shot at Pearl with no hesitation🤣🤣.

I love how Scar went from someone pretty much everyone thought would get himself killed, to the one everyone was scared of with his thorns armour and boasting the most kills of the series.

The visual of Scar being coerced into causing destruction by the Secret Keeper is such a cool and malevolent idea, love it

Ohhhh I loved this so much! 😭😭😭 I *love* Sleeping at Last, so this was awesome. The narrative of Scar being forced to play the villain until he gave up killed me, so I love this portrayal of it. All the efforts of friendship he had to turn down leaving him so lonely, and so he finds a kindred soul in Pearl? I freaking loved that detail, alongside the beats that matched Scar's past Life iterations. Thank you for always making such awesome animatics and sharing them with us!

man you got me emotional That final 4 fight was just perfect. I've had my highs and low all throughout the season, especially regarding to Scar's and Gem's chances to win (sometimes I would hate them, sometimes I would love them), but in the end I wouldn't have had it any other way.

A few days ago I thought that if Scar wins Secret Life, an animatic to a sad song would fit his story line perfectly. Seems like I was right because THIS IS PERFECTION! Seriuosly, I really love this animatic, it captures the feelings I had watching Scars episodes so well and absolutely delivered on the potential for storytelling offered they offered.

Anyone else desperately want a full version?

I love the shot where it showd Grian sticking his hand out. The background shot of the previous life series winners is also great. If you do another animatic of the Life series, i feel like that shot of Scar talking to Pearl after she'd already died, without realizing she was already dead, is oddly sad and just like Scar at the same time. Perfect bittersweet villain-like ending

DUDE! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! SCAR DESERVED THE WIN! The parallels between Scar in Secret Life and Pearl in Double Life is absolutely amazing! The way Pearl was willing to sacrifice herself but Scar didn’t allow it was a moment that I love! When I saw Scar and Pearl team up it reminded me of Double life. Where Pearl and Scar teamed because they were both left alone and wanted to troll the person their tied with! I loved seeing another misunderstood player/outcast win! I've been watching this on repeat all day, and it just gets better the more I think about it. It genuinely feels like closure from Double Life I didn't know I needed with Scar and Pearl helping each other.

THE WATCHERS WERE ROOTING FOR HIM IN THEIR OWN TWISTED WAY IRS SO POETIC THAT HE DIED FIRST SERIES FIGHTING WITH HIS FINAL ALLY AND THEN HE LIVED IN THE LATEST FIGHTING ALONGSIDE THEM

The more I hear the song the more it's so amazingly fitting for Scar in SL! Especially since people/me as well, have dubbed Scar the Earth for the winners. I think another good song for the series as a whole would be Crazy - by Gnarls Barkley

Loved this season, how dynamics were affected by the keepers pulling at the strings. Also, it is very interesting how TL was a tragedy, then LL was more of a true victory, DL a tragedy, LmL a victory, and SL another tragedy. Really curious pattern there. Perhaps another curse? 🤔

Ok I was watching this for like the 12th time and I just barely noticed the detail of Scar’s cape changing during the explosion from sunflowers to roses and lilacs and ooooh that’s a great way to show his change to red life! I love that🤩! This is such a great animatic💚💛❤️

Okay, okay, I've been following your animations for the Secret Life stuff, and I was not expecting to be hit by this, oh my god, this hit like a ton of bricks in the best way possible. Everything from the Scott and Pearl sacrifice parallels, to Scar being torn between the two main teams left on the server, it's SO GOOD DUDE I specifically wanna point out that transition at about 30 seconds in, where Scar's cape changed with the explosion??? That is such a cool way to symbolize his yellow to red transition. Well done. Chef's kiss. Everything about this is gold. 10/10. 5 stars. Like button smashed. Subscribed.

This was beautiful like legit- so beautiful. When I thought of all the animations and animatics that would come out after the angsty and unexpected ending to Secret Life with Scar winning, I was thinking of you as one of those animators that was going to make a banger animation/animatic of sorts to do Scar’s win justice. This was phenomenal and I watched it twice and will probably rewatch it more than just those times.

So have we all agreed that Scar is the Earth? The Sun, the Stars, the Moon, Mars, and Earth Here me out: Third life. Grian, the Sun. The Earth revolves around the Sun. Secret life. Allying with Pearl at the very end, and her always saying that she didn’t want to win the series. The moon revolves around the Earth. There’s probably more but these are the two big ones that came to mind

I mean he also has heavy nature themes in most of the seasons. Master of the desert, Panda collector, this skin literally has sunflowers on it. He's also usually with other people but is alone now which kinda fits Earth being unique for life. And so so many points. I'm not sure if I prefer Earth or Pluto for Scar they're both so fitting and good.

@@LovingBallOfApricots I've been looking through all the different arguments, which seem to be Earth, eclipse, comet, Pluto, and Mercury. I'm not the biggest fan of the eclipse and Mercury arguments, because they seem much more based around other people (Pearl and especially Grian) than giving Scar his own meaning (although I'm fully aware of what I said in the my initial comment...). After looking into symbolism a bunch, I agree with either Pluto or Earth, although I still lean more heavily towards Earth. Here's some of what I found. Earth: - Potential, courage, determination, strength - Life, longevity, mortality, resilience/stability - Creativity, perseverance, pragmatism - Solitude, beauty, healing - Logic/practicality, reliability, honesty, groundedness/stillness (these are a bit less Scar) Pluto: - Abundance/riches - Secrets/secret information - Lifetime metamorphosis/lifetime change, transformation - Death, waste, destruction, obsession, ruin - Revelation, revival, rebirth Personally I'm a big fan of Earth Scar. Who cares what the community decides on, if they even do come to a consensus for this one (which I doubt, especially since I'm still seeing different arguments for Martyn). Earth Scar my beloved

Ugh. This hits too hard. How can you do this to us so soon. There are so many good bit. The part where he hesitates to take Grian's hand. The part where the Secret Keeper pushes the hand with the matches down. The bits where he's torn between allies and he has to choose. It's all so good.

This is so well made. The way you make this silly little minecraft series mean so much by pointing out the underlying feelings and dynamics, making it all so dramatic and making my little heart hurt and cry. Grian offering his hand in friendship, all the alliances being scared of scar while he's forced to be the villain against his own will, the double life pearl flashback, the lyrics fitting so well and giving it all so much meaning. I don't know how you do it but I thank you for doing it.

I'll admit I didn't expect Scar to win but I'm so happy he did. He had a rough season not being able to make any friends I'm glad that he got to win a season.

Little detail! I LOVE the reflection of all of Scar’s skins from all five seasons. And the way it counts BACKWARDS instead of forwards is amazing. Also, as that happens, is the character slowly turning to look at the camera? Maybe turning to look at the viewers… who made it all possible… the Watchers? Great animatic as always! You did this SO fast it’s absolutely incredible

Shivers down my spine… This is so poignant and really captures the season finale. Amazing work!

OMG I LOVE THIS PORTRAYAL OF THE FINALE!!! THE WATCHERS MAKING SCAR THE VILLAIN IS SUCH A GOOD CONCEPT and that would explain why majority of his task made him a villain! And Gem and Scott's scene honestly made me a bit emotional- THIS IS AMAZING RUSTY!!!

I don't know how I feel about seeing our goofy boy so scared and lonely, and then ending up just resigned to it all, but I absolutely ADORE how you made it come together. Every moment of this invokes such intense emotion. I look forward to seeing your more of your work.

I just finished watching Scar’s finale and then came straight here because I knew your animation would be the cherry on top of this lovely Secret Life sundae! And I was not disappointed! I love this final animation so so much! I thought it was so clever to have the watcher/secret keeper force Scar’s hand to light the fires! The swooshiness of Scar’s poncho was very satisfying when the explosion went off! The parallel between Scott giving up his life for Gem to have more hearts to Scar and Pearl choosing to fight together aaaaaa SO good! It gave me chills! All the flashbacks to prior seasons were beautiful as well, but that last frame? Absolutely amazing!! I love all the different symbols behind each character! So so clever! Also the song choice was so perfect? It hit me in the feels paired with your wonderful visuals and storytelling. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

ITS ONLY BEEN LIKE EIGHT HOURS, YOU’RE INSANE!!!! this is amazing. I love scar choosing sides and the flashbacks to both his character and the winners in the other life series, it gives me goosebumps. This is all just so perfect. Secret life has been so much fun

The more I look at the winners I realize.. They were all soulmates in double life (excluding Martyn..) Scott with Pearl and Grian with Scar..

The expressions are KILLING ME, when i saw Gems sad face I almost cried. Scar turning away from Grian, his detatchment(?) when the watcher/secret keeper tells him to burn stuff, his VISIBLE indesision during the fighting before siding with Pearl, OH GOD GEM AND SCOTT WAS SO SAD, scar among all the other victors OKAY THAT ANIMATION OF SCARS CAPE FROM THE EXPLOSION WAS GLORIOUS (i cannot draw fabric let alone animate it, this is SCRUMPTIOUS) Thank you for the meal, i will enjoy it in agony (the angst fics will be glorious)

My favorite detail in this whole animation is the final shot all the little details truly make it for me, pearl reaching her hand out for scar to confort him, the sun (grian) being the farthest he can be from scar, while the moon is the closest like earth, scar's bored looks as he's back where he started alone, everything is just so good

Grian’s last stand was something to behold as well. Some say, if it weren’t for his trap and 1v3, Gem, Scott, and impulse would’ve been much stronger against Scar and his temporary team. Plus it would be cool to see the animatics of Grian fighting with all he has, until his shield broke.
