On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

@@BullittMacDaddyit needs to be small. Here in Sweden the placement of these aircrafts are "decentralized". Instead of being concentrated to airfield the enemy can bomb, the entire highway road system here is build so Gripen (and it's predecessor Viggen, way back in the 70s) could start and land. Built into this system along the highways are small concealed 1-plane bases, so the plane can land, back in and dissappear. So it needs to fit... 😉 The turnaround on these babies within this system is also ridiculously fast. 10 minutes to full re-armament and refueling, and it can be done with only one trained technician aided by 4-5 untrained conscripts. It's entirely built to strike hard and then disappear. Pop up from nowhere and strike again... Hit - dissappear. Over and over. It's basicly guerilla warfare with airforce, brought on by the need to defend against the much larger Russia.

Not having a long-range air intercept capability _really_ holds the F-15 back. It's still an impressive airframe, but if it had JATMs or even Meteors combined with that radar....

That is what AIM-120Ds are for with an estimated range of 87-100mi depending on the source (true range is classified). The AIM-260 JATM's range of at least 120mi will be a bit of an improvement though.

It's a pretty apples to oranges comparison. You have an air to air platform, reoptimized redesigned for ground target - deep strike and interdiction. Vs a small, high mobility TRUE multirole fighter. The TRUE analoge US opponent to the Grippen is a current model Viper C with comparable loadout.
I'd love to see this with 2 F35s. We all know they can't hold up in dog fighting very well, but would be great to see them up against strong non-stealth combatants in BVR.

@@logicplague2077I agree, especially from what I've read from the Norwegian pilots' anecdotes they've got pretty good sustained turn rates whilst having excellent slow speed maneuverability. From what I understand it's got a slightly worse sustained turn rate than a clean f-16 but has significantly better acceleration, allowing for more options
Holy shit the anticipation from that first round of meteors was insane, just loitering in the air like that 💀

at 11:39 it's the perfect example of the Doppler effect . when traveling the same speed the missile can't see him but as soon as he changes speed it reacquires him.
@2KOOLURATOOLGaming
8 ай бұрын
It tracks him all the way up until he puts in the burner. Once he equalises speed it loses him for a second (doesn't make any attitude change). It then reacq's and I guess freaks out with that direction change compared to its last update. Not sure how well the stuff is modelled, but I wonder, why can it not see him. If the seeker is pulsing and looking for frequency shift within the returns then why does it not also use the negative? If the ground is really fast (relative vel) and the echoes from the air and clouds are also fast, why not look at the spot that is not coming toward you at all? I wonder if real Fox3's do this, or if there is an issue with it like the sky being a huge negative space. It's the same idea as Submarine's being a black hole with no sound compared to the water around. Don't look for something, look for the lack of something else?
@clairecelestin8437
8 ай бұрын
I think the missile had track that whole time, especially because it sees him against the sky and not ground clutter so it doesn't need to rely on doppler. When he changes speed, the missile tries to change course to the new intercept point. I think the reason the missile pitches violently is because that's the precise instant when the missile can no longer calculate an intercept path, and we're basically watching it have a 'divide by 0' error.
The Gripen flatfrom is really impressive. I flew them and had a lot of fun. Very capable aircraft.
You two are an absolute hoot when you get together. Great fun to watch.
The meteor missile's range definitely played a big part in the 1st round, this is one of the many situations where a super long range missile can prove advantageous. Nonetheless great duo!
I love when you guys work together. The absolute best.
That radar return is doing the F-15 no favors against such a good missle. If it had a missile to keep its opponents at bay, it would hold its own a lot better. I kind of wish the F15 2 would have taken some of the stealth aspects from the Silent Eagle, like the slanted tail fins, to help conceal that massive return hotspot.
Love to see more Gripen content!
