On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, F-4 Phantom, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

The German F4s were mostly F4F. Basically simplified F4E variants because of budget constrains and because they bought it as in interim solution as an interceptor. It was only later on when the F variants were upgraded, which got them on par with the E variant. For example, no sparrows and no mavericks early on. They upgraded the maverick capability later on. The F4 then served for more than 40 years in the Luftwaffe.

My dad was an F-4 WSO in JG 74 which is the squadron your skin is from. The only differences is that most F-4s there were actually grey and that they did carry AMRAAMs. Also there was a Me-262 production plant and an airbase close to the current JG airbase which is the reason we still find a lot of WW2 bombs.

Later models of the F-4E were fitted with a Target Identifier System, Electro-Optical, on the starboard wing, above the inboard pylon. This provided the WSO with a means for identifying enemy aircraft, and ground targets, beyond normal visual range, allowing more freedom in the use of Sparrow missiles. But it could also be used to acquire ground targets for electro-optically guided weapons like the Maverick or GBU-10.

Wanna hear a story about German Phantoms? OK, here's one and its true. In the late eighties and nineties the Germans were practicing low level flying around Goose Bay Larador. Ideal place, in the middle of effing nowhere in Labrador, lotsa room and no speed limit. Or so I'm told. It's not flat, by the way and a german Phantom pulled up too late and sorta smooched into the terrain. The trees to be exact and came out at the other end with lumber in the wings. It made it back to Goose Bay but never flew again. No, seriously, it came back and was in hangar for a while, quite the attraction for the middle of nowhere.

Hey GS, for something completely different, Eagle Dynamics needs to come out with a livery for the F-16 like the Viper Demonstration Team is using this year. It goes back to the first F-16’s to roll off the assembly line. I remember seeing them back then.

Das TaktLwG 74 fliegt ausschließlich Eurofighter Typhoon. Die Tornados ( IDS u. ECR ) sind auf die Geschwader TaktLwG 33 Büchel und TaktLwG 51 Schleswig/Jagel verteilt.

The phantom really looks good about 80% of the time. Then every once in a while that huge fuselage with the low wing just makes it look like a milk tanker 😂
