Just finished watching this ESPN Documentary. What is so very disturbing is these Penn State Officials who were charged with crimes against these children, never once apologized or showed remorse to these children who were sexually assaulted. Paterno was complicit, and Sandusky is the very worst type of predator.

Joe was railroaded because that made the story more sensational. Most people didn't know who Sandusky was. But Joe, as a revered football coach - and especially as a coach known for doing things the right way, he made it a better story. So they tore him down. The truth is Mike McQueary went to Joe Paterno and suggested in vague terms that he saw something inappropriate between Jerry Sandusky and a child. And Joe told Mike he needed to report what he saw to the Athletic Director (Tim Curley) and the school vice President (Gary Schultz - who also oversaw the campus police.). And Joe called Tim and Gary to make sure such a meeting took place. This was in accordance with school policy and with the law. Joe later followed up with Mike asking if he was OK. Joe Paterno did the right thing, So did Mike McQueary for that matter. The media, including ESPN, made this story into a Penn State Football culture problem. The reality is - if you follow all the allegations against Sandusky over the years - The only two people that ever even attempted to report Sandusky were Mike McQueary and Joe Paterno. Both members of the PSU Football Program.

Joe was told by McQueary of “inappropriate sexual activity” between Sandusky and a child. Joe did the minimum required by law and was part of the decision not to report Sandusky. While he may have committed no provable crimes he utterly failed morally by not insisting the police be called in 2001. He lied about his knowledge of 1998 also.

Joe tore himself down by not reporting child rape. He wasn't the only one guilty of covering it up, but charges would've happened if he hadn't died. I don't know why you choose to defend him.

My thoughts on Joe Paterno is that yeah; he Knew something weird was going on with Sandusky. Having said that; there should be an Asterisk next to his name: Joe Knew....... BUT. Joe Paterno was an extremely Smart Individual; and im not talking about being just Football Smart. Most Good To Great Coaches in ANY Sport are. They can connect the dots better than a majority of people. Did anyone take into account the very people Joe Paterno Reported this too; were also one in the same Individuals that were not only covering up what Sandusky was doing to those kids; they were also INVOLVED with it as well? DO NOT forget; a Centre County DA vanished FOREVER Investigating this in 1998. I once saw a Report; and i only saw it once; then it magically disappeared that Sandusky was pimping those kids out to people at the highest levels of the Pa. and Federal Governments. This is what i read. That's why i think they only got the tip of the proverbial iceberg when they threw Sandusky in Prison. Joe Paterno was a Father and Grandfather. Don't you think he asked himself the Question: " If i pursue and push this situation towards the FBI; Or someone in Law Enforcement getting involved; what effect would it have on my kids or Grandkids?" As in; IF i take this and run with it; would i wind up with one less Son; Daughter; or Grandkid? I'll always believe in my heart; THAT is the reason Paterno only Reported this incident; and WHY he never pushed or pursued it further. NOT for his own safety; but for those he loved that was around him.

So much for searching beyond mainstream media narratives and application of critical thinking. With the benefit of time and extensive research... I'm convinced Tom Corbett is the guy who knew the most and presided over the entire debacle in his time as PA DA, governor & PSU trustee. He deliberately setup Joe for reasons of his own culpability. Joe was scapegoated no doubt. Joe did all he could ethically & legally. I, too, initially and for some years blamed Joe erroneously. It clearly was Curly, Spanier & Corbett who knew way more than Joe n had the actual power to act. In my estimation Corbett was the orchestrator of the cover-up n false narrative about Joe. Checkout what he said (and his bravado) as he announced the news at the initial press conference. The way he singled-out Joe raised an immediate red-flag ~ one with which my suspicions should have continued. Corbett is the guy

There was a a sector trying to take down and discredit this man for as long as I can remember. That I, a 13 year old girl who hated football, became glaringly aware of it circa 2002 says alot. He was the most successful major college football coach ever but he put academics and his player's behavior before all of it. There was no incentives, pay to play, or huge gifts that goes on at even the high school level today. There weren't even names on the jerseys to promote team over self and vanity. Alot of people hated (were seething with envy) over that. That someone proved you could do both. Have success and integrity. I have 3 points on the other subject. The alleged incident in the locker room happened after that creep had retired. He was not employed by the school or Joe. Joe is not one who gave him access to campus facilities. It was well known there was no love lost there and he was never a fan. 2. When it was allegedly reported to him, at the very least it's confirmed he reported it to the campus POLICE and athletic director (aka his boss). Some reports say he even mentioned it to the President. He didn't see anything, but he relayed what was relayed to him to everyone he should have. The buck stops there. If someone reports something to you and you report it to the cops are you liable? That's asinine logic. Fact was he risked losing more by "covering it up" that by reporting it. For a man that gave and sacrificed his life's work for the advancement of young people it makes zero sense that he would ever sacrificed little children for absolutely no reason to a man he disdained. I believe there are 2 things at work here when it comes to Joe & this: convenient scapegoat because he was the face of the university. Whoever actually dropped the ball wasn't going to correct that narrative. The other being the people who always wanted to take him down and see him fall (the incessant calls for him to retire and release his salary were disrespectful and embarrassing, especially after he released it and was making like 5 times less than his "peers" like say Urban Meyer). 3. Mainstream media and society. Making like it was Joe who did these sick things made for a better story. No one knew the over a decade retired creep. Why, as a society are we shooting the messenger & not the culprit. Why are we condemning someone who was a well know supporter of children by association with a creep, yet on the same channel showing specials celebrating, awarding, and championing actual creeps a la Michael Jackson? Think about it.

When Michael Jackson was alive, we heard rumors that he was a pedophile, then when he died we heard that it was all a myth and Jackson was innocent. Then years later the rumors come back. What are we supposed to think? In the case of Paterno, he was never accused of being a pedophile, but of ignoring his assistant coach actually molesting students (f0r which he was convicted and imprisoned). Reportedly he was told to keep quiet about it by his bosses, but that does not forgive him for saying nothing when he had the chance.

The reason why we are shooting the messenger and not the creep-- is that we were disappointed in the behaviour of the messenger. You said he loved children ? Well where is the proof? Let me make this personal-- If good ol Joe had been told The creep was found butt naked in the bathroom with his( Joe) biological grandson would he just report to campus police ( not real police mind you) and promptly forget about it ? I dont think so. Remember he was the face of Penn Uni. Even more popular than the university president. . He himself said in retrospect he should have done more. And yes- he was right- he should have done more! Thats why we were so disappointed in his lack lusture response to what was reported to him.He didnt protect any kids-- maybe in words or in his head he did - but in reality he was more concerned about the football program. If he wasnt afraid of Sandusky- at the very least he should have called him for a "meeting" to ask him about what he was told. Why didnt he? Why keep it -- indoors-- campus police my foot !!!. Again I dare to ask - if it was his grandson with Sandusky-- would that have been his response?

Yeah I doubt all that? I have read that his dad worked in an office that was controlled by one of the mob families but that was probably most of NY at that time period. Fran Ganter could almost pass as a Paterno but again doubt it. His coaching tree has Jim Caldwell, Greg Schiano, Al Golden and Matt Rhule and that's just off the very top of my head. 😂😂😂 What am I doing, probably talking to a bot.
