    It looks a lot better than the stock Tamiya (stance) and seems way more capable after the upgrades. Good job and good video.

    Very Nice demonstration. I love watching this truck. It simply looks amazing running. Looks like it performed well too! I enjoyed the music too!

    My pleasure. To be quite frank, I have been very hard on this truck. The condition it was in, thanks to me, prior to this was was appalling. Problem is, the truck responds well to abuse and even though it has probably around 500 miles on it, it always worked. With this new raised transmission, I am excited to continue the long runs!

    Thank you. I was unsure at first as I really didn't like the big tires bit I think they worked out in the end.

    I have no idea about the world of 1:1 trucks, but I guess the "High-Lift" does mean a particular style of customization (like hot rod or lowrider)? Yet I believe many people (include me) would treat this chassis as some kind of scale crawler subjectively (I know Tamiya didn't produce a typical crawler but I would want to turn it into one). I really love the work you have done to this truck, definitely a much more capable truck on rough terrains.

    I think Tamiya called this series the "High-Lift" series. Never before have I heard anyone call a raised truck a "high-lift". You are spot on, it would be more of a scale crawler but this is an awful truck. Don't get me wrong, I love mine but it is a waste of money. For the cost of the truck plus this hundreds in work it needs to make it even useable. Get an RC4WD TF2 if you want a trail truck. The HG series is a good option since the are cheap but again, they are not good trucks unless the look is exactly you want. Ill have a video soon on this and my TF2 at a trail event. They were both awesome.

    @@AMPROEngineering Oh I get it, just like how I feel about my CC01, it's my first trail truck yet an awful chassis in many ways, I enjoyed the process of modifying it but I never recommend my friend to do the same...replacing it with a new generation product would be the most rational "modification". Looking forward to the new video, scale trail is always my favorite, haha.

    Awesome work as usual! Tamiya should really look you up! My question is what did you originally create those wheels for? Did you score one of those large scale General Lee's floating around?

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    7 жыл бұрын

    I think I am too insulting toward Tamiya's terrible designs for them to look kindly on me, hahaha! So I made those wheels for this truck in particular. I had those tires laying about and made some correct Vector wheels some time ago (2007) that are dead replicas of the ones used on the General Lee (you should be able to see them in earlier episodes of this build) but the tires I had were bead lock and did not fit on those wheels so I made slightly larger diameter ones to fit them. Since I had vectors already and had just made some slot mags (for my FAV), I decided to try a go at the Turbines. Overall, a success I think if a little dull in the paint category since they are cast aluminum on real cars.

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    Oh man...shocks were 80mm but the driveshafts...they were the Jun Fac replacements. I would check them out but the truck is in storage since we are having some serious construction here. It is the same length as the one the truck had originally when the trans was in the old spot.

    Great upgrades. How many battery packs did you go through during the 3 hrs? What kind of electronics set up did you use to get good run times?

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    So I brought 8 packs with me. I used 60% of one for 3 hours! It was a 4k mAh pack too. I run a Novak crawler motor (55t I think) and a Novak ESC (I forgot which one but it is for crawlers). The car was just not going fast.

    FANTASTIC RIG BROTHER!!! Are you interested in producing a six pack of the wheels on the vehicle? They are exactly what I need for a current build based off of a classic.

    @AMPROEngineering

    Thank you! When you say six pack, you mean like 6 of the wheels sold together? Currently they are in shapeways but individually. Sadly, that was the cheapest way I could sell them thanks to SLS Nylon pricing.

    @@AMPROEngineering Sorry to bug you again, but do you happen to know whether they were fictional or based on a real design? They loosely resemble the Ironman All Country M/T tires to me. Also, at least at the time of the posting of this video, which would've been 12 years since the purchase, they appear to have held up pretty well and not disintegrated. 👍 Do you store and care for them in a special way? Thanks!

    Stainless steel printing?

    Yup, it is very cool. Basically a fine steel powder is glued together and then baked at very high temps to burn off the glue and make it bond on a molecular level. I am over simplifying but I love the stuff.
