Even though I have never owned a high lift and probably never will, I very much enjoyed this video, as well as every video you put out. I just think it is very fun and interesting how you re-engineer solutions to old problems in the design of these old cars. I am also a huge Tamiya fan so that probably helps too :)

Well thank you! This truck really was a challenge and an annoying one to boot. I am happy this all worked out.

Good work deserves good praise. I'm sure I and others would love for you to make more design videos of you prototyping parts. Just some of the techniques you use in ACAD or your chosen software and thoughts while designing and modeling them. There is a severe lack of engineering design videos, and since its RC it would be more fun. Also, I'm curious.. why do you print them in white then paint them? Why not print them in black?
@AMPROEngineering
7 жыл бұрын
No I think you are correct about this. I will need to do more videos of how it is actually designed. Great question about the painting. So shapeways does not offer black in a "polished" version so the surface finish is rough. Also, it is quite matte. Painting the polished white parts with a low gloss black prevents dirt from sticking to the bits as well as giving a more uniform appearance (keeping with the look of the ABS). I will also need to talk about that!
I love your videos!

What I did with my servo I flipped it to the right and used a tap to thread the ball sockets to 3mm and used the short 3mm x 25mm rear tie rod. I had a spare one so it worked out better with more clearance.

Hahaha! Well I try.
I own both the Tundra and the F350 high lift, both comes wiht the batterycase under, unless i misstook what you said :) Also, i would love to do it this way, however, speaker gets in the way (i have the MFC-02) in my F350 and both read and front swings, not sure if that is good or bad as i can't really regulate EPA with the carson radio. Love your videos!
@AMPROEngineering

No you a totally right, I dont have one so I am not quite up to speed on those. Yeah I used to have that MFC-02 but I found the ESC totally worthless for trail and rough surface running. Glad you like the content!

Where would one find the pin screws that your using to hold the battery try up?
@AMPROEngineering
Жыл бұрын
So it is really annoying. Tamiya sells them in random screw bags. The ones I get are from the Stadium Blitzer.
After much searching, I found the actual name of those screw pin....cotter pin mounts. They are actually called Tamiya Hex Screw Mount

Just out of curiosity, what engineering software do you use? I am a 3-d modeler, but my brother is an industrial engineer. I really like some of the software he uses.
@AMPROEngineering
7 жыл бұрын
You know I really need to do a video covering that! I use Creo 2.0 (formerly Pro/Engineer) though in the past I used CoCreate, Catia, SolidWorks and PT Modeler. Your brother is probably using Rhino or Alias? I have some video of me on the computer in this Shapeways youtube video interviewing me: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYx5yNNthbGtn9I.html

Nice design!. I really would love to buy one if it wasn't for shapeways 26 euros shipping fee + USPS customs fee of 32 euros.. that would be a total of 58 euros or 66 dollars...

Really? They are based in the Netherlands though. Do you have the location setting correct?
@northsve
5 жыл бұрын
@@AMPROEngineering yep my location Is correct. 38.24 euros for the printed item. Plus 26.40 euros for shipping. Now the price is 64.64 euros. And since the value of the item and the shipping cost has exceeded past the toll- free limt of 37,82 euros. It trigger's USPS customs and handling fee of 32.41 euros. So the total cost of the battery tray including shipping and handling with USPS is 97,05 euros. And even if I'm lucky avoiding USPS handling fee. The item is still to expensive to buy. Sad but true.. :(
