    Very nice work and nice product. One of our vehicles is a 93 Toyota 4X4 (1:1) with almost a half a million miles on it and it runs strong, such a wonderful truck. I'd like to make the RC4WD kit look just like it. Much like you did with this Tamiya kit and your 1:1 - But my RC4WD would need some different front end pieces (independent double wishbone looking front suspension and different grill/fenders) So, uh, maybe by the time I can afford the kit we can talk about some 3D printing of those....... We're years off. Just throwing it out there.. lol

    Man how nice would that be! A lot of design work but also a pain to get the needed metal parts...for now. Soon the metal quality from a 3D print will be outstanding!

    I wish I knew for sure. What I do know is that the trans has moved up less than the overall height of the trans when the motor was on top so that tells me it should fit all of the cars since its highest point is lower than it used to be. Does that make sense?

    AMPRO Engineering Yes that would be great as there's no custom charges from the EU :) So do you all just use the same website? and then any order I made would I just add a note asking for it to be shipped from the EU? Also are you saying there's a Shapeways in the UK? Thanks :)

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    Well it should automatically ship from the US when your shipping address it put in. I think shapeways started in the Netherlands and then one of the first locations was in the UK but I could be a bit wrong about the details. If you have a problem with the ordering process, they have awesome customer service that can answer questions but let me know if there is a problem.

    Really digging this mod. I have been drooling over 3D printers for a while now and after watching this I just pulled the trigger on a XYZPrinters Da Vinci 1.0a Pro. I want to do something like this, but I run a long can Mabuchi 750SH and I also want to put the steering servo up-front. I guess I'll have to play around with clearances and offset and maybe clearance the crossmember. How did you manage to solve the weak steering of the High lift?

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! Yeah it is tight up there. The steering is much better with full bearings in the factory pivot. Getting after market captured ball ends helps clean up slop but a rock solid servo is the key.

    i actually have a few questions , other than the obvious question about what the two tabs are for on the slipper clutch cover cause unless im mistaken you didnt really go into any detail on that i mean i could have missed it in another video , i know you dont care for the 4 wheel steering but do you have any suggestions about how to get the mile n a half of slop and bump steer out of the rear end if you do like having the 4w steering ? also if i get the trans lift , motor bracket , rear shift servo mount and battery tray is it even possible to have rear wheel steering anymore or is there just not enough room ?

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    3 жыл бұрын

    No you missed nothing. I often model in random mounts and holes for....future upgrades. As for the slop in the steering, you can add better ball cups. Captured ball ends help but a big one is to delete the servo saver. With this kit....now its been a while since I have had the RWS but I should be able to work still? The steering servo is in the stock spot so I dont know why it wouldn't work but dont quote me. Like I said it has been 14 years since this truck had the RWS.

    @@AMPROEngineering thanks alot for the info , il try getting a heavy duty metal servo saver , metal gear servo , either finding or building a better bell crank setup cause the one it has is complete junk , i like the 4ws for when im driving in my small yard or chasing my son with it in the house , he can get away from the hg-p407 by just making tight turns or going around the coffee table but with this thing im afraid he's as good ad caught lol also i forgot to ask where you got your shocks mine has these useless spring shocks kinda like a larger version on the wpl c14 but twice as useless

    That is a great idea!! Someday, I'll be able to afford one of those trucks, and that would be the first on my list of mods for it! I've heard often from several people in my Google+ groups, that the high centering is an issue. THIS will be like a Godsend to them! One note (and I'm not trying to send you back to the drawing board)..... On the motor mount, why not just put a removable "peep hole", to make proper gear mesh MUCH easier. Just a thought! To your subs - do ANY of you have a 1/14th Tamiya Semi?? I believe this adapter could potentially work on the Semis too. The gear reduction is VERY needed in these trucks!!

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    7 жыл бұрын

    If you want one, go used. They will be about the same price as new usually but in most cases have hundreds of dollars of upgrades already in there. These trucks get stuck on small leaves and beetles. I like the idea of a peep hole and i used to have one there but sadly it didn't help. All it did was add material and make it more expensive to print so I scrapped it. So far, nothing I have works on a Tamiya Semi but simply because I do not have one. I may need to borrow one from a friend as I know nothing about them.

  • @CarmineRC

    @CarmineRC

    I CAN tell you this much, for the transmission/transfercase extended mounts, you see how the front mounts have 2 horizontal screw holes and the rear has 2 vertical holes? On all 1/14 Semis, all four mounts are like the Bruiser front mounts - ALL horizontal holes, and at the same height. Selling a set of four front mounts should work on the Rigs! I only know that, because a couple of guys in a group I'm in, used the Bruiser style transmission, to be able to drive the front wheels, to make a 6x6, or even 8x8!!! 😲😲 .....There's a list of vehicles I want to get, as I'm getting back into the Hobby and rebuilding my fleet, from zero. First will likely be a Lunchbox or Grasshopper - to do your suspension mods on them! 😉 I am so curious it hurts. Sadly, military pensions and disability payments DIDN'T go up last year, and only went up 2.3% the year before that. We're barely getting by lately, but I really need a way to get back into this..... for my sanity! You know?

    Not really, the trans is attached from the sides so you need some way to offset the mounting points. Clearance is at a premium too. What I did here was simple and effective but I imagine there are other ways too.

    Fabulous work ! Your modifications are second to none. I have your double wishbone kit on my Hornet and it is superb ! Quick question about the highlift. I know that even with the transmission now raised, it is lower overall in height than when the motor was mounted on top and the transmission in it's stock position, but can you fit a full interior to the Hilux body with this transmission lift kit fitted ? I want to carry out this modification to my highlift, not to improve off road capabilities, but to improve the scale appearance of my scale build, so really want to fit a full interior. Also, can you use the standard propshafts once the transmission is raised or do you have to replace them with longer ones ? Keep up the stellar work, thanks ☺️

  • @AMPROEngineering

    @AMPROEngineering

    Thank you so much! As for the interior, sadly the answer is no. Maybe if you chop it up a bit but it is still not a direct fit. All standard prop shafts are installed. You should be all set with the stock ones though mine broke really early on (before any driveline upgrades).

    @@AMPROEngineering Awwww that's a shame ! Never mind, I can always cut out some of the floor and put in a transmission tunnel. I think the look of the raised gearbox outweighs a bit of modding of the interior 😊 thanks for the info on the propshafts. I was just worried that raising the height of the gearbox would mean having to fit longer propshafts so they could reach the axles without being over stressed. Thanks again and keep up the great work 😉

    Hey, there is some repeat in your edit, at 3:09 and 3:11 you repeat"now that we have removed the sprue" twice. And at 2:08 and 2:28 you also repeat about the servo stock position ^^ Your mod seems very clean looking and look like a tamiya part. Good job! If you don't have to use the front shifter shaft, can you grind it out to clear a bigger motor or having more play with the pignon option?
