Also thanks so much for this comparison! I love your videos. You know the Voyage is great when we still want to compare everything else to it, 10 yrs later.

Is it possible that you have a defective item? I just purchase the Clara BW as a more portable companion for my Sage. Compared to my Sage, my Clara BW has slightly higher contrast with deeper blacks.

What are the model numbers of the actual displays inside the devices? This would be something like ED060KH6

I can confirm this. I also have the Clara 2E and the new Clara SW. 2E display / contrast is WAY better.

Wow....making me miss my old Voyage!

My first e-reader was a kindle voyage and it is still working great today, I just have small issues with the battery. It used to have a similar UI experience such as kobo does, no algorithm and no advertising at all. That's why I thought I'd like the new Paperwhite. But I wasn't considering the actual Amazon interface and I ended up using the voyage again with the kobo libra 2. My love for the kindle voyage is unconditional.

Battery so easy to change!

If Voyage just had a warm light, I wouldn't have bought any other ereader. It's still absolutely amazing. I still have mine and it still works great.

Has anyone tried to check what's on developer's mode options in the new devices? I switched the Anti-aliasing off and something called "Reduce eink update area". After doing that, the text looks way sharper. Just curious if someone has tried this.

They might have tweaked the rendering engine (for the worse), because in the Font options everything looks so different (The justification button backgrounds are lighter, but if you check the `Advanced` button, it looks to be darker) I tried turning off those 2 settings, but can't say it looks any different, but then again, the differences might be so small you'd probably need them side-by-side. What I can say though, is the Boox Page's contrast matches the BW's, even though it should be worse since it has glass screen and Carta 1200, so Kobo might have fumbled something up here.

@@sannes3185 first you have to go to search and type "devmodeon" to activate developer's mode. Then in Settings, device information at the bottom it should appear. Check it out and let us know please.

Самый хороший контраст на Kobo H2O 2014 года. Я сравниваю его с разными ридерами - и рядом не стояли. Вот там белый фон реально белый.

@@meylyssa3666 контраст не единственный критерий,гарантирующий комфортное чтение,более того,он даже может быть избыточным и вызывать усталость глаз.. А вот конечная четкость,резкость текста,выводимого на экран и глубина черного,вот это действительно важно. И на все это влияет не только поколение экрана,но и то как программно читалка формирует текст, какие материалы используются в таче(если не ИК), светопроводящем слое и какое стекло покрывает все это дело(если форм-фактор с покрывным стеклом).. В совокупности к Вояжу близки только libra2 и (прости господи) Onyx Leaf- тот что без стекла.. Но там свои "традиционные" приколы

It’s quite apparent that Carta 1300 is inferior to Carta 1200. At least the way Kobo implemented it. My Libra 2 is better than my Kobo Clara BW which I exchanged thinking I got a faulty device only to confirm on the one I just received that “yeah Libra 2 is way better”. Page turns are faster though and I do enjoy the pocketable, portable size of the Clara for on the go which is why I’m keeping it despite it being inferior in quality to the Libra 2. It’s a nice device don’t get me wrong, but at the same time I think the Kobo Libra 2 is the best E-reader ever made. As for the Kindle Voyage, yes, it also had deep inky blacks, but the screen lighting and uniformity was terrible, which made it unusable reading in the dark.

From what you said, I'm glad that I got the iReader Neo 2 instead of the Clara BW. My Neo 2's screen (also a Carta 1300) looks better than my libra 2 and the difference is more than subtle.
