FYI, you can set Calibre up to automatically convert books when they’re imported, so that makes the process a little smoother. Also, you can send books to the attached device using the button in the toolbar at the top, saving the need to open a Finder folder and drag the book

@@brja1996 Prefernces, Adding Books, Automatic adding. You set a folder to monitor for ebook files and then tick the checkbox below to have it convert to your preferred format. I think that will do it. If not search online and I’m sure you’ll find the info.

I was debating between Kobo and the new Boox Tablet Go Color 7 e-reader. Me being technologically illiterate I think the Kobo would have me in a tailspin trying to figure out how to download my kindle books. I probably will go with the Boox Go color 7, but I'm waiting for it to come out in white. Thank you for all the information, Danielle. It helped me a lot!

Oh, I'm so glad. You're very welcome. I def think you'll love the Boox device. I don't have the Go 7, and it doesn't have a stylus, but it's SUPER simple to load all of your apps onto Boox devices to read ALL the books!! 😎

For font bold - on the kobo - go to the Aa button, font face: advanced, then font weight and you can change the weight of the font ei: boldness

Question: If I use the serial number of my Paperwhite in Calibre, does it cause any issues when I actually want to download a book from Amazon to that same Kindle? Also, can you create Collections (or folders) on the Kobo to keep your books organized? Thanks for a great tutorial! I'm very tempted - but also concerned that as soon as I buy the Kobo Libre, Amazon will announce a color Kindle!

I haven't had any problems downloading books to my Office Kindle since I added the number to Calibre. I don't think that Amazon even "sees" that Calibre has the number. The Kobo has collections -- so you can put books that you own, ones from Overdrive, and/or ones from KoboPlus into collections. And I'm 100% with you . . . I REALLY expect to see a color Kindle soon.

@@fitdaniellereads Thanks! I just read an article that said Amazon will be using a different color technology on their color Kindle, one that will render much brighter colors. But will also be more expensive: like 40-60% more than a regular Kindle. But they don’t say WHICH regular Kindle so guess we have to keep fingers crossed on that!

Kobo plus I have the level for audiobooks and ebooks. It's like KU where you have certain books part of it. The collection is growing and just started in the US but I get my monies worth with just audiobooks sometimes. And the level I have for both is cheaper than KU

Even without a screen protector you can create friction with the HB tip on a Surface pen or an extra ‘rubber’ tip you can put over the tip of the Kobo pencil. The rubbery tips sold for the Apple Pencil 1 do work fine.

I ordered the KOKABI Surface Pen 4096 Pressure Sensitivity, Microsoft Surface Pen Magnetic, and it works the same way button down hilghts and up erasers

Do you prefer this over boox palma or vice versa?

How do you convert Kindle books to Epub if you don't have a Kindle device? I have a number of Kindle books but have been reading them on the free Kindle reader on my Mac and iPad.

Unfortunately, you do need a kindle device for its serial number. Just the app won’t work.

@@fitdaniellereads you know what, I just ordered it. I've been waiting for a new Oasis for like a million years, but since it's discontinued, I really wanted a device with page-turn buttons. Your video definitely helped me to go for it, despite that it would be my first Kobo. And, I'm also a forward-on-top kind of girl when it comes to page-turn buttons😉

Suggest: perhaps shorter vids? Or edited? Or scripted? Love your vids but one hour is a bit much…. IMHO. (Even in 1.25-1.5x). (I super respect content creators). Or maybe both: unedited & edited? Or chapter markers?

I agree that one hour is a lot, but there was a lot to cover. I spent a lot of time doing chapter markers so that people could skip sections that they didn't want to watch and find the information that they were looking for. You should be able to see the chapters in the description. If not, maybe try a different device. Thanks for watching and for your comment! I really appreciate your input. Have a great weekend!

How can i download more fonts

The Kobo makes it SO easy! Just find the fonts that you want online. Download them to your computer. Plug in your Kobo, and you should see a folder called "Fonts". Just drag the new fonts there and the Kobo will load the into your font library on the device!!

@@tanyaisis Oh, okay. Let me do one right now and see what I can see. That's what I did to get Bookerly onto my Kobo. Did your font come over to the Kobo as a folder or was it individual files? I know that on the Kindle I had to take them out of the folder before I dragged them over or it wouldn't see them.

I just did it again, and it recognizes the files even in folders. It should work as long as it's a .otf or a .ttf format.

Thank you!! I think you have to get the updated deDrm and a plug in called KFX. I did it about an hour ago and it's working again. I'm gonna make a quick update video this afternoon.
