Should You Buy the Dyson Omni-Glide?
I would recommend the Dyson Omni-Glide if you’re looking for the following features in a cordless stick vacuum:
Exclusive hard floor cleaning: The Omni-Glide is only made to clean hard surface flooring like hardwoods, tile, vinyl plank, sealed concrete, etc. The Omni-glide isn’t designed for cleaning carpets. If you need something to clean both consider a Dyson V-series.
Shorter run cycles: There is also a ~20 minute run time on this unit (though it went 25 minutes in our tests). While not long, it does charge up in 3.5 hours. It also has a limited dust bin capacity (less than 1 cup), but for sort cycles, it should still be sufficient.
Multi-directional maneuverability: The way that the Omni-Glide moves is a little unusual and definitely user-friendly. It can clean front to back or side to side without having to lift the cleaning head. It easily cleans tight up to edges and gets into smaller spaces due to the relatively compact head.

    One of the problems I found was hair getting tangled in the small wheels at the base which can hinder the manoeuvrability to turn and it’s difficult to remove cause the smalls wheels are fixed.

    No other V-series attachments will work on it. Omni-glide's wand diameter for the extension wand and attachments is smaller than the standard V-series vacuum size. So it is not compatible with anything except specially made Omni-glide accessories.

  • @ModernCastle

    @ModernCastle

    2 жыл бұрын

    We test all vacuums on max mode. However, it really isn't necessary in this case. Normal power mode would still yield 100% cleaning performance due to the brushroll design which grabs onto debris. Since we purchased this it has been my go-to vacuum around our office and studio (which is mostly hardwood floors). It's lightweight, easy to move, and cleans everything from floors, tables, and up high stuff. Great machine.

    How does it fair with hair ?

  • @ModernCastle

    @ModernCastle

    2 жыл бұрын

    From our hair cleaning test: We also tested how well the Omni-glide removes hair from hardwoods floors. For these tests, we use synthetic human hair that we spread on the floor and allow the Omni-glide to attempt to remove. In general, the Omni-glide did great. It removed all of the hair from the floor without any issues. The vast majority of the hair went to the dust bin, however, a small portion tangled along the axel. Hair that was ran over closer to the edge of the brushroll had a higher chance of getting wrapped around the axel. The hair wrapped around the axel was still a relatively small portion of the total hair we removed. So while this issue should be expected, I don’t think it’s reflective of a serious cleaning issue.

    It would help if you had shown the vacuum standing up. Or maybe because of the pivoting head it won't stand up on its own? That's not a small thing, especially if you want to leave it sitting out, but in an out-of-the-way spot to grab and use sporadically throughout the day. Whether it stands or not, I think that should be addressed. Also, maybe it's just me but perhaps you've been doing these reviews too long haha. They're useful and I like the fact that your comments are brief and to the point, not rambling; but the sing-song voice is grating. Also, you don't seem to do pet hair/fuzz bunnies as a standard test. Seeing as how that's probably the biggest vacuuming need in many homes, that would really enhance the reviews.

    I do live with a long-haired wife who leaves some hair around. The problem is finding a way to test removal in an objective and repeatable way. We do have a hair removal test we've been doing (where we use synthetic hair) on our more typical vacuum tests. I guess I thought it wouldn't be as relevant for this type of a vacuum.
