Nice video, jay. I've dyed with acid dye mainly. I do useally use single feathers from genetic lower grade chickens and also dye some fur. I find that natural white furs and feathers dye the easiest . Enjoy useing veined and the Jacquard dyes. Never dyed any bucktails but hopefully that will change. Keep tying and happy wrapings

Good to see you out and about Jay. I’ve missed the daily video drops so I’m hoping you did some fishing to make up for it!! As alway another informative, seat of the pant’s, garage bench video. Lol. One question? Did the tails curl on you or did the stay flat after they dried? Looking forward to the upcoming tying season with you!

Jay....I am going to start calling you "papa-smerf"! I do mine outside under an awning.....wife would kill me if I got the pretty epoxy resin floor in my mancave poppa smerf color! You look like you been eating blue berry pie with your fingers! Still laughing my butt off at you!

Can you reheat and use the dye later?

The amount used for the pot will only do a certain amount of tails. On the Rit website, one liquid bottle dyes about 2lbs of dry fabric.

Jay...don't laugh....o e of my freinds has a problem with skunks. He has dispatched several with just about all white tails. Believe it or not when he brings me the tails there is no smell at all. The tails he gave me are very unique in the fact that almost 85% of the tail is white. I got to thinking if skunk tail would take dyes and to my surprise they do remarkably well. I have died 7 skunk tails in different colors. I do have one colored in lavender similar to the color you have. Skunk tails make fantastic jigs and are very similar to bucktail. I guess the reason you don't see more people using skunk tail is for obvious reasons! Not ling ago I died 78 buck tails. I am set for the season! Thanks Jay for sharing. I don't think the average person realize what us jig designers go through to get the final product. It is a lot of work.

Jay..I forgot to mention....I have been playing around with kool-aid and it works extremely well. Keep in mind it is the plain kool-aid pack....not the mix with sugar. I have made several colors of red and pink that turned out really well.
