Ducati Panigale V4S Full Test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is definitely a bike we have been waiting for with baited breath; Ducati's latest superbike, the Panigale V4, here in S guise. It the demise of the venerable V-Twin something to be lamented or does the new engine configuration breathe a new lease of life into the grand marque from Italy? Mat takes time to ride the new along with the old, in the form of a 998S Final Edition and, for good measure, the latest Multistrada 1260S. The verdict might surprise you.

Just bought a 2015 Ducati R. I can't stand it on the road but it's a dream on the track... and a bit of a nightmare. The bike pull so hard and never stops, it's downright scary. The brakes and the turn in are so nice. I can only imagine what a new v4 would feel like.

Blimey, you should re-listen to some of our old tests and then you'd realise how good the sound is at the moment. This is honestly the best that we can get it without spending a gazillion bucks, unless we slow to a first-gear crawl while doing our on-board comments.

Well I don't mind a bit of real world comfort, but I don't need any off road pretensions, long range pillion comfort or luggage, so I wouldn't mind seeing a supernaked version of the V4. They missed the mark with the Streetfighter though, so I'm not sure we'll see one.

We must celebrate that Ducati is going for v4 instead of a lumpy v2 oh sorry L-twin for the street. Why should a bike feel like it is about to die when you are cruising below 3k in when stuck in traffic? For track, well take your pick but for the road if it is not a big Superduke 1290r or maybe the Multi then everything else that is based on a twin lump feels lumpy :P

They have the whole range of monsters as their naked line, it will not make sense. And do you know whose fault they don't make the Street Fighter anymore? The consumers, they didn't buy them, so Ducati stopped making them, it's almost always the fault of the consumers, specially the people that have the mentality of "I'll just wait a year of two and get a used one for a few grand less", manufacturers don't get anything from used bikes.

Only thing that pisses me off is that ducati decided to cheat by adding 100cc to a bike that essentially means they produced a racebike which is illegal in every sanctioned superbike race series. To answer your question as to why manufacturers don't follow suit and start another capacity war, it's because they actually care about their bikes being used for racing!! Capacity limits exist for a reason, to keep manufacturers getting lazy like what ducati just did

The R version which will be shown in about 6 months will be 1000cc. The base model and S were never intended to be the basis for race machines. Race teams will use and R. This reality means they were free to increase displacement to produce the most thrilling machine available today on the non-R models. Don't be surprised if another manufacturer does a bigger engine for their superbike, RSV4-RR being the most likely candidate.

Have you actually owned a Ducati in the past ten years or are you just talking off the top of your head based on what you have read elsewhere on the net? Ducati has a long history of electronic and engineering malfunctions to live down, we agree, but to keep on tarring them with the same brush based on what a few internet trolls say is just silly. We can name examples of every single motorcycle manufacturer who has had re-call issues or servicing issues or reliability issues in the past ten years but we don't hear you talking bollocks about any of them, do we?
