    As a life long rider. This style of bike was what I have been looking for! ! Just about using up my Ducati ST 2 , 206.000 miles 😄 I rode a multistrada , and it was great ! With a new bike beyond my means I went used, found a 2011 1200s touring , white wit

    To everyone complaining about the price, you can still get the base model without all the electronics for 15 grand canadian. Which is 8000 euro or 11 usd. It costs the same as a vstrom 1000 if you add sidecases. And let's be real, you're going to add side cases. It's a very good deal and truly the best all round bike you can get. Handles much better on and offroad than a strom. Much more comfortable, MUCH better offroad than a versys and almost as quick. I liked it better than the similar ktms, tigers and AT... it's also cheaper than an AT or versys

    But lets talk about servicing.... It doesn't matter whatever I'd been quoted before my Ducati services they always seem to cost more. Whilst I'll admit this is probably more comfortable than a Tracer (I've yet to ride this) the Tracer may be a better handling bike and probably quicker if we're making comparisons.

    @@I_am_Thursday they are a bit more, but ducati has really worked on getting the price and intervals down. Service is now done at every 30,000 miles which is awesome. and its around 700$ for complete service. New belts, valve clearance etc.. the multi Is infinitely more comfortable and is an adventure bike. The tracer is a sport tourer. The duc can tear up gravel and trails where the tracer needs to turn around. The tracer Might out handle slightly, but the multi is very close and has much much better suspension.

  • @markmay7821

    @markmay7821

    @@I_am_Thursday it also has a bit more power and torque than the tracer and has the same weight. So I'd bet the multi is quicker.

  • @I_am_Thursday

    @I_am_Thursday

    Well not quite. The belt and valve services are every 18,000 miles or 5 years (whichever sooner). And yes, the multi has more torque but the tracer has more bhp (very little in it). What I do know about that Yamaha triple is that it spins up so damn fast it's far quicker than the spread sheets would suggest. The only reason I know about the servicing is I've been looking at trading in my fat bob for a monster 1200s. I'll admit that they are a lot better now ( Stone me, I had 3 Ducati's over the years and the cost was just ridiculously high, and people can stop that 'it's a Ferrari' shit as they were no better - often worse- than any other brand to ride ) but i still have some reservations over the reliability issues and hidden costs.

    @@I_am_Thursday I had some very real hesitations about the reliability as well, judging from thier history. But ever since Audi bought them, the reliability has been pretty good. Like if you hop on the multistrada forums, it's all just pretty pictures and farkles. If you go on the versys, vstrom and klr pages (all pretty bulletproof bikes), there's nothing but "this is broken/wrong, how do you fix this"... I would definitely feel more at peace riding a yammie. But so far so good with my multi. They are also very different bikes for different uses. for me, the multi does pretty much everything the tracer can and more. And comfortably. But with an admitted extra cost.

    Controversial maybe but I don’t think it justifies the price at all. I get that bike prices have gone up and wages have stagnated, but despite all the electronics and toys this is still the baby version of the Multistrada. £13,500 then an extra £500 for spoked wheels is a crazy price.

I think the 40.000 miles scared some folks away, got all the service records with it for SIX GRAND !!! Got it 15 months ago, turned over 63.000 miles yesterday! What a machine !😄😄😄

    Aaaaaahhhh, another journo who seemingly doesn't get what preload is! (4:44), changing the rear preload is changing the rear ride height not making the suspension stiffer. It is to adjust load for rake/trail, nothing to do with a harder or softer ride. If you wan't to make the suspension "stiffer" changer the damping. Bike is lovely though.

    Mark May Kawasaki Versys SE comes fully loaded for this price. This includes central stand. Electronic suspension. Side cases and much more. I agree that Ducati is more off-road oriented with 19” from wheel. But with road tires it will make no difference.

    @@MrPchubarenot really. Though I do agree the versys is a good bike. I owned a 2018 in covert green.. but im talking about the base model. Which is 15 grand Canadian. Its actually cheaper fully loaded (sans the electronics) than a versys WITHOUT the LT kit. the multistrada actually out handles it on the street. even with road tires its hilarious fun on gravel. Like 5th gear power slide hilarious. Where the versys feels very sketchy on gravel, even with dirt oriented tires (I put k60's on it). All in all, versys is definitely a good bike. But the base 950 fully outfitted with with luggage is still a few grand cheaper and I believe the best all rounder you can get. Oh, it also came with an 8 year warranty.

    Suzuki V Strom 1000 is significantly lighter, has more torque and brings it on earlier and is less money. Some might think not as handsome, but I'd go for Strom.

  • @markmay7821

    @markmay7821

    5 жыл бұрын

    @diversion641 The vstrom is actually 20 pounds heavier. You must have been looking at the dry weight. It has 3lbs of torque more but 15 hp less. And I can tell you the multi gaps a vstrom pretty good in a race. Plus the base 950 is the same price as a vstrom with side cases. If I bought a vstrom with cases and center stand, it would have actually been more. Dont get me wrong, I love the strom. It was my second choice (even above ktms or a tiger). But the multi easily out handles it on road, has more ground clearance and more travel off road and is the same price (for a base multi, outfitted with cases and center stand). It just doesn't have the electronic suspension and colour display. But the suspension is still top notch and fully adjustable

    @@diversion641 its 520 wet for the strom vs. 500 wet for the multi. Either way, both great bikes. You'll end up spending a bit more on maintenance with the duc. But it was 15 grand Canadian outfitted with cases and stand, where the strom was 14 grand without any cases or extras. The strom definitely handles better on road (twisty roads and such) better than the ktms, tiger and Africa twin. Not as good offroad, but has reliability and price on its side. The multi is the best handling adv bike hands down and is pretty decent offroad. For my money, it was the best all rounder.
