Hi Steve!! Thank you so much for the clear and precise instructions. I’m not a handyman so the way you explained it was on point. My dryer is no longer making noise, the wife is happy and now i might get lucky!! 🤣

Great how-to. This series is excellent. I would suggest one clarification on replacing the belt. It took a while and some trial and error to figure out that you take the belt from right to left over top of the motor drive, wrap it around the motor drive heading back to the right, then down over the top of the idler pulley and around it heading to the left, pulling the idler pulley spring taut, and then goes up the left side of the drum. At first I was trying to figure out how to thread it from left side to right side.

At least, that's how it went on my Maytag LDE8420ACW.

Can I see a pic of the belt on motor & idler pulley?

Thank you so much. I would not have tried the job without seeing this first. Is it always the one over the heater that seizes up? That's what mine did. The wave washer behind it actually ground a nice countersink into the back mounting plate. I guess that was the screeching noise. I put an extra washer on before bolting up the new shaft and hoped for the best.

great instructions. though putting the belt back on, around the pulley was the hardest. otherwise worked.

I have a question in regards to commercial Maytag dryer model # mde16csazw with cs non accumulative timer. Since the machine is coin operated it's only supposed to operate once the coin is inserted. But recently the machine turns on without us having to insert coins, and instead of running it for a specified time it now runs non stop. To stop the dryer from running continuously i have to manually open the door. Can you please let me know if this problem has to do with the timer of the dryer or a malfunctioning button.
