Its crazy how Zeppelin wrote a Tool song way back in the 70s. Really ahead of their time 👍👍

As a LONG time Led Zeppelin fan, and No Quarter long being one of my favourite tracks, when I got into Tool, and they released this magnificent cover, I was floored! You're spot on with the comment - they stayed faithful to the original, incredible homage, but completely made it their own! Zeppelin's version was moody, relaxing - kind of like a marijuana trip (and I have some experience there). Tool's version was moody, but intense, like a speed or cocaine trip (I DO NOT have experience there! LOL). They took a trippy song and made it metal. Heavy, deep & foreboding. Indeed, they did the impossible, but that's Tool! One of the best covers I've ever heard.
The 7/8 section at the end is CHAOS! Amazing! Danny's King!
Tool should have been at The Kennedy Center to do this one. Lol. Would love to see the reactions of Zepplin members to this.

I think Zeppelin would love it. It’s exactly what Zeppelin did with the blues... make it heavier and expanding it to something else. Zeppelin live performances of No Quarter went to all kinds of places during the organ/piano solo to include classical movements. So I can’t imagine the band not liking Tool’s interpretation of the song.

You plug into tool with an understanding of music and you will experience that amazement throughout the journey. The level of thought and preparation band wide that went into that No Quarter cover to make it come across easy is impossible to quantify. These guys are supremely gifted. They are dead serious about their music. It all speaks to me in a different way.

Being a guitar player(with a bit of drum envy) and heavily influenced by Zeppelin I appreciate that he doesn’t attempt anything close to Page’s solo and still keeps a Tool vibe to the whole song. Tool is Zeppelin meets Pink Floyd meets Sabbath in my opinion.

Exactly what a cover should do, evoke the influence and nuance that the original had on member/s of the band performing it! Great reaction and funny you should mention the grunge/sludge era and who else Tool covers. Tool do a mean cover of “Kyuss - Demon Cleaner” and I reckon this generation produced a heap of epic stickmen. Matt Cameron, Steph Perkins, Brant Bjork, Vinnie Paul, Sean Kinney and Jimmy Chamberlin to name a few. Very much reminds me of the impact John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Nick Mason, Keith Moon, Mick Fleetwood, Bill Bruford, Ginger Baker etc. had coming out of the UK. One of those perfect snapshots of music that had an impact on a generation.

Another gifted drummer who is not only technical but incredibly musical is Gavin Harrison, drummed for Porcupine Tree and a few other bands and now is 1 of the drummers for King Crimson. You should react to him playing Anesthetize. He doesn't play a lot of odd time signatures but he's a great illusionist in the fact that he makes one think he is. I'm sure you would enjoy his drumming. Doesn't use much if any synthns but has a pretty impressive kit that he has no problem dancing around. ✌🤘🤘

Tool Army Here, they have done 2 other covers, (Stranglehold), by Ted Nugent, but there is no good quality video of this song, and (You Lied) by a rock band called PEACH which is the band Justin Chancellor was in before coming to Tool, but those are the only ones I am aware of.

Fucking Brilliant!!!! As a massive Zep fan, it pains me, pains me, this is a better version of No Quarter! Ahhh, I hate saying it, but, its is!! Cornell would have sounded great as would have AIC, but, this one, ahh, just so damn eerie, "Its getting colder, getting colder" Yes Tool does covers, A Perfect Circle does a whole EP of covers from Elton John to John Lennon, and an original take of When The Levee Breaks, as you liked the Zep original so much, you should check it out, a off shoot band A Perfect Circle, great band, love them as much as Tool

To my knowledge Tool has done this cover and "You Lied" by the band Peach, which incidentally was Justin Chancellor's former band. A perfect Circle isn't Tool so that's neither here nor there.
There's a few out there but the one you will want to do is "you lied", if you haven't done it already, the bassist Justin Chancellor came from the English band Peach, "you lied" came from him, it's on the same album.

React to the live in San Diego, “No Quarter!” The last 5 min is totally remarkable and you get to see it.
Hi Andrew from WA State USA! I really enjoyed your Pneuma and No quarter reactions. Im a closet drummer myself banging away on my TD50. I've never played in a band or even jammed with another musician but I certainly could.. I just wanted to make a few comments if you don't mind in regards to both videos here. First, there is a very high quality live version of no quarter on Halloween in Vegas with Tool dressed up as Led Zeppelin and it is awesome! You should check it out. Second is you said you can't cover any Tool.. Yes you can! If I can and do, then a drum teacher can. I've never had a drum lesson 😆 and I cover a few tool songs, some Rush, Godsmack, Zep and of course I can play any Metallica song but Lars is pretty weak.. Now my ask.. Go through the Tool discography!! man you are missing out bigtime! I want to watch it and you will hit 10k subs in no time! The #Toolarmy will come in force and sub you silly!! I'm sure you've heard quite a few of the obvious ones but I'm going to give you the few I can cover ( working on more of course).. Stinkfist I have down 100% along with Hush, and close on swamp song and H. 46 and 2 I'm getting there as well as Jambi. A few mind blowers that I will never cover are 7empist that just won a grammy off the new album and Ticks and leaches known to be one of the hardest drum tracks ever period! Check out John Johnkew's channel, he covers hard Tool songs. In fact you should react here to his mind blowing stuff!! Lastly, when you said Danny Cary is not usually in the discussion for the Goats!! I was wondering what in the hell is in the water down there??? He's the best drummer alive imo! Rip Peart but Danny is way better than Peart period. And 10x Bonham. Remember I cover these guys and I'm a self taught hack.. Just my opinion! I am going to sub you now in hopes that you go down the Tool rabbit hole. Peace my friend. Eric

Drummer question review If you could, I don’t know if it’s something you would even consider but would be cool to see your take on the different styles of the 4 major drummers of Pearl Jam. A side by side comparison. There is a long time argument on which drummer was PJ’s best, so it would be cool to hear an expert’s opinion. Drummers Dave Krusen 90-91. Recorded debut album 10. Dave Abbruzzese 91-94. Touring drummer on 10 tour (when they blew up), Albums Vs. (sold 950,378 copies in its first week) Vitalogy (did not tour, fired and replaced.) Jack Irons 95-98.
