He released an album with some friends under the band name Toy Matinee. I’ve been trying to get Geebz here to react to the first track since he started posting. No luck. In 1973 No Quarter was released; I was 19. It remains to this day a timeless classic in the massive catalog of Led Zeppelin's work. Rarely does a cover not only pay just deference to an original but also imbues it with its own numinous vibe yet remains true. Instantly recognizable as both Tool & Led Zep. The torch has been passed on, Tool is the heir apparent. Opus!

I was in the audience on that track when it was recorded live at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, OR. Voluntarily gave up my job to see that show. Ended up mobbing with about 20 other people from 30 rows up, down the stairs, through security, over the railing, and onto the GA floor. I left all but one of my party up in the seats, but I still had all my weed! Seen Tool live about 15 times, and that show ranks in probably the top 3 for me. Epic.

Crazy how music can discredited over the association of images some people have in their head. While Maynard's lyrics maybe have serious anti religious overtones, tool has never struck me as anything less than spiritual. Which is not the same thing but, I've had someone use just that to try and convince me tool is satanic. At the very least, I can't help but see tool's movement away from destructive to creative. Not to say tool was ever destructive, per se but, one can't be a fan this long and not see the development from what was already a tremendous starting point.

I would also add that another thing he does that makes him so likable is his respect towards the knowledge of each fanbase; he regularly admits that he doesn't know the nuances and specifics of individual songs/artists/albums as well as the viewers, and I think that kind of respect is almost surprising coming from someone who has so much experience.

Of course, they absolutely killed the performance.

Zepplin was such apart of my childhood. Having siblings going off to college in the 70's I heard everything, yes..had the one disco sister. WWII era parents and their music, youngest of 6, Catholic church choir, everyone learned an instrument; we had an old upright piano. Didn't have the dexterity for it but fascinated by the sounds BEHIND the piano, echo, hammer hitting those strings..my mom decided I would sing. Outside of mandatory weekly school choir(mass) and Sunday mass; Latin ftw. I heard Robert Plant sing and, have been told, I always wanted to sibs to play the records and I would lay on the floor between two huge speakers and release my 6 year old Rain Song, No Quarter, Kashmir etc...only other humans I accept covering Zepplin is Ann, and Nancy Wilson. Yeah..wanted to be Ann Wilson..went over well with nuns and priests. Dreamboat Annie....I AM that weido. I blame my family.
