Drop forging is a highly productive, tool-dependent forming process and thus enables a considerably greater variety of forms than open-die forging.
This makes it possible to manufacture components with a very low machining allowance or ready-to-use raw parts. Due to the tool costs entailed, drop forging is primarily suitable for the manufacture of parts produced in runs. A large range of diverse components can be realised in the combination with ring rolling and open-die forging. The components have optimum grain flow, fine surfaces, high dimension accuracy and outstanding mechanical properties.
