The air going back through the turbo is not bad for the turbo what so ever. Cars pushing over 1000hp and 40 plus psi do this. Your turbo is not under power when this happens. The air being chopped up by the turbo has absolutely no affect. If you would like I can add some links that will go into the scientific points of why it is not a bad thing. Actually helps on less turbo lag in the long run. I currently own a 2017 st. But prior to that I have owned a 94 rx7 with a t88 putting out 45psi flutter never harmed it after 100,000 miles. Also has never hurt my supra.

Dude I just did mine like 2 weeks ago..because I got the cobb accessport and hid to do this because I have a boomba bov and it kept venting..so it fixed that problem and the flutter wasn’t to bad..but I got a intake a week later and i was surprised how loud it made the flutter..it flutter a lil at high boost so I’m concerned and my turbo..maybe the boomba spring is a lil stiffer than the turbo smart.

Having an intake definitely makes the flutter way louder. I have been doing some more reading on this setup and it seems that a lot of people actually loosen their bov's all the way and then do 1 full turn to the right. I may try this in the next week or so and I'll provide a little update if it changes anything :)

What bov are u running I did this with a turbo smart and I hardly hear the bov anymore under any sort of boost kinda concerning just wondering if you have a turbo smart aswell and if I just need to loosen mine a bit

I'm running the same bov, the turbosmart 50/50. I'm sure loosening it will probably get it to vent more. I've been driving with it on for a week+ at this point and I'm still learning when the bov goes off under different boost/gears/rpm/etc.. So far I've noticed if you're between a quarter to halfway on the boost gauge the bov will go off - just not as loud as before, but anything over half on the boost gauge is pretty loud and sounds better than before. I'm going to be doing a more in-depth video on the bov and flutter under different conditions in the next few days :)

To my Knowledge on LSPI, you shouldn’t be tryna boost below 3k rpm. Have you addressed that yet?

Can you do this on the stock bov?

Turbo flutter between 1-4 lbs of boost is considered normal for the ST and is present even when using the stock solenoid. What is the highest boost psi that your getting flutter at now?

I've been driving with this set up for about a week now and am still figuring out when there is flutter or not. I would say anything under 7.5psi produces flutter on a consistent basis (I did remove the intake box so I could hear it better - with the cover on I thought I was only getting some flutter under very low boost like you mentioned above). Between 7.5-15psi I have maybe heard some flutter but it is rare from my experience so far - but during this range the bov goes off pretty loud. Anything over 15psi is pure bov noise. I will be doing a way more in-depth video in the next few days to talk about all this stuff :)

I get slight flutter on high high boost. Do you think it’s fine?

What psi range are you talking about? Does the BOV go off at all when you get that slight flutter? There have been a few times when I let off the throttle in the 10-15psi range and I get a little compressor surge (flutter) and the bov going off.

turbo flutter, although it sounds super cool, should be avoided. it’s bad for your turbo, i’m sure doing it now and then is fine but don’t go making it flutter every time you drive.

@@zachlarsen8053 false only when open throttle and you hear it is when it’s bad but when off it does not hurt it hints why a lot of Asian sports cars don’t have bov the back pressure is not enough to cause a turbo spinning at 30k-50k rpm to back spin might slow it down a bit but that’s it

I have no idea to be completely honest. I'm running a cobb preset tune (stage 2) and have not noticed anything out of the ordinary so far and I use my accessport to monitor some data while driving.
