It's great to hear the EMD power-pack, a very familiar sound to us Australians. Thanks for this, looking forward to part 2.
Great video and sound. Good quality. And captions - thank you.
You beauty ... subscriber count up to 1.6k - and we all appreciate what a great job you’re doing. 🐨🇦🇺
Funny this should pop up as it’s my patch as a Signal Tech, in fact I was maintaining the first two sets of points (NR404 and NR403) passed over in this video only last night
Very nice video like and subscribed from Czech Republic
Great sound powering up in Crick Tunnel (although drivers may not think so after a few hours at the wheel, of course; I've seen a video of an Irish Rail driver on an 071 class wearing ear defenders! (No need to worry about hearing AWS signals, of course.)
01:36 - Still miss the sight of the Birdcage bridge (or the Girder Bridge) as I knew it. Use to watch trains going under there as a kid on the right hand side where the road to the PSB was.
I was a relief signalman based at Dumbarton Box on the Glasgow North Electrics and when trainee drivers would visit, the most often asked question was, "How do you know that I have passed a signal at danger", I would point out to them about how the track circuits worked but it did make me wonder why they wanted to know that.

I guess it depends on how the question is presented, some could be plain curious and others might need to be kept an eye on in the near future.

@@crazygecko5385 they would stand looking at the panel and ask that question,I have no idea what was going through their minds at the time.

They were probably wondering how far they had to go past before the TC detected them 😁
excellent, great video.
Nice video thank you for the ride! Did not appreciate just how extensive the DIRFT site was. Would like to find a track plan for there one day. Looking forward to part 2.

And about to get way bigger with a new terminal.
Interesting to see the wind turbines at Daventry really making a useful contribution there 😌
Great video never know @dovetail games may be able to use this is they release any routes that you have videos for. Keep it up.😄😄
I get scared when the drive goes through those dark tunnels! I think there could be spooks in there and that is scary!
excellent. thank you
i looked out for Mr Deltic, as we passed eddie stobart,..but i couldn't see him,...
Hello I'm new to your videos and I just loved that sooooo relaxing! looking forward to part 2

More 2K please, though the quality is still excellent !
At the start of the video at Rugby, it looks like there’s some old platforms on the left hand side. Are these the old midland counties Platforms. Good video by the way
Hi I enjoyed watching this esp as i grew up in Hillmorton and used to see all trains passing by. Where does part 2 go on towards? I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Great video, but where is part 2?
One word of advice put in description that this is uncontrolled and not for route learning one KZreadr had to pull some videos as they had not done this

I always say that these are my personal videos. They were taken with permission but are in no way used for, or by my employer. Or indeed any other company. Anyone, or any company who even thought of using these for such a purpose clearly doesn't have any care when it comes to safety standards. It should be self evident and need no explanation to anyone attempting to do so. I wouldn't expect anyone, or any employer to even consider using these for such a purpose. There are strict plans in place for route learning, and KZread certainly isn't part of that plan... But, I do completely agree and understand your point.
10:39 Is that Upper or Lower Title Text? I've never been to any of them.. doesn't look like Title Text has a station either.. ;)

@@Freightdriver82 Yep.. I am very familiar with that problem.. I would have left it in as well, if nothing else it made me laugh.. in a good way! Great video.. :) Looking forward to Pt.2.. better go and check if I have subscribed, if not I will do so now.. :)
Any idea what causes the SPAD problem on NR5340 at 2:58?
Great video but at 10:45 there is a bit of text which might need a look a out.

Yes, that was a schoolboy error... Added an additional caption in error, no detail was due to be put on it... Unfortunately, I can't remove it unless I delete the video and re-upload it! I was waiting for that to be pointed out! lol!
What are the beeps at the start of the video. I've heard them in other video's also? They happen at random times....

its the noise of the DSD pedal (Drivers Safety Device). The vigilance alarm sounds when a direction is selected on the reverser. it also sounds on a regular basis throughout the journey which requires to be reset by releasing and depressing your foot again within a few seconds.

Ah right! Thanks for that. Now I know that hopefully I'll get my chance to get on the rails soon.. nothing happening up in the north east job wise at the moment.
What is the track with O/H but only part rails on app: to N'hampton please?
@StuAnderson90

Old siding... Years ago there was a spur from I think either Northampton or rugby to Nuneaton like a Coventry avoiding line.. or the new piece of track works are spurs, sidings and access to Northampton EMD
@Theorbe100

@@StuAnderson90 It was the line from Market Harborough to Northanpton, part of which is a preserved line now.
What company owned the unit ?
One thing that must be a little exasperating is travelling from junction station to junction station and getting stopped at both. You went from a dead stand at Rugby to a dead stand at Northampton. Not good for freight train competitiveness with lorries.

I took over the train at Rugby. Usually it would get a run straight to Wembley from there, and at Night, even straight back to Ipswich. The only constraint during the day is fitting in between passenger services, which ironically tend to hold us up and slow us down when they stop at stations!

It is... its a Class 66... 12 cylinder EMD 710 two-stroke diesel as its power unit. (3300 hp power output (2460kw) with 3000 hp (2240kw) power to rail).
