Drinks of Back to the Future | How to Drink

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There's a few drinks in these movies, and one of them is possibly essential to the story and the very existence of Marty McFly!
Let's look at the drinking that goes on in the Back to the Future movies, specifically Parts one and two because I already did Part Three a while back. Let's start our journey in the alternate 1985 where we find Loraine living a miserable life in a gilded cage atop Biff Tower where she slugs J & B to soothe her pain. But then, let's travel back to 1955 where frankly, there's a lot of underage drinking going on, and some of it might be essential to the very existence of Marty McFly. I am of course talking about the spiked punch at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance.
Loraine’s Sour Taste of Disappointment:
Build in shaker
.5 oz. or 15 ml. simple syrup
.5 oz. or 15 ml. lemon juice
.5 oz. or 15 ml. peach brandy
2 oz. or 60 ml J&B Scotch
Add ice and shake
Strain into glass
Garnish with Luxardo cherry
Enchantment Under the Sea Party Punch (non alcoholic):
Build in mixing glass:
3 oz. or 90 ml. guava
2 oz. or 60 ml. orange juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. passionfruit juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. simple syrup
3 oz. or 90 ml. club soda
Pour into glass
Spiked Enchantment Under the Sea Party Punch:
Build in mixing glass:
3 oz. or 90 ml. guava juice
2 oz. or 60 ml. orange juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. passionfruit juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. simple syrup
3 oz. or 90 ml. club soda
Pour into glass
1 oz. or 30 ml. Early Times bourbon
Add directly to the glass
Marty Maker:
Build in Shaker
2 oz. or 60 ml. guava juice
.75 oz. or 22 ml. passion fruit juice
.5 oz. or 30 ml. simple syrup
2 oz or 60 ml. Early Times bourbon
Add ice to shaker and shake
Gated to open pour into double old fashioned glass
Garnish with Luxardo cherries and umbrella

unfortunatly the spiked punch giving him the bravery was acually disproven. In the sequel, we see that Biff spikes the punch with liquor. So it’s possible that Biff is the reason George was feeling particularly brave after drinking the punch and then going out in the parking lot to look for Lorraine. “That’s a very clever idea,” said Gale, though he explains they weren’t planning on making a sequel after the first film, so giving George liquid courage was never the intention. He added, “Bob Zemeckis and I would never say that you need alcohol to do the right thing.”

I just learned this from the Blank Check podcast (they are doing a chronological deep dive of Zemeckis films, they just finished BTTF 3 last weekend): the reason George is honking down peanut brittle like a monster is because there's a cut scene where Biff makes him buy an entire stock of his kid's fundraising candy

Trivia: the "passion" in passion fruit refers to the "passion of the Christ" as in the suffering of Jesus on the cross. Its because when the flower was found by Spanish missionarys, there was some Christian numerological significance to the numbers 3 and 5 - and the flowers have 3 stigmas and 5 anthers. The significance of 3 is the Trinity and the 5 are the 5 wounds inflicted on Jesus in the crucifixion mythos.
