the 1st class i picked was driller, and i havent switched to nothing else ever since,the ability to manipulate the map to your liking is a big advantage

I mean I played gunner first and he’s still my favorite but I’m close to promoting all of them for the first time. The driller is one of my favorites, but seriously, they’re all fun and they’re all strong and they’re all good. Branch out, you might enjoy it. I think it’s better to be able to competently fill any role than to lock yourself in as a dedicated main of one character.

I'd even argue driller is best solo class. Most equipped to fight off everything the bugs have to offer. Besides, you get the power of fire, ice, BOOMS and DRILL. It's all a dwarf needs!

Fun fact: driller can get rid of fields of poisonous mushrooms with his axe. Throw it slightly above them and you can pick your axe afterwards 👌

Listening to this just made me smile because this is how i explain everything i do, and after doing my first deep dive earlier, i can say that my extensive tunnel systems helped a TON, ive always said that we drillers build better hives then the bugs.

Before the Breach Cutter boost updates, Driller was THE best damage-dealer in the game. Outright an easy-mode at times. The importance and help of bunkers, shortcuts and flattened ground cannot be understated.

Whenever I say to my girl that drilling is an art, she slaps me in the face.

Gunner was my first class way back in 2018 and to this day My gunner is my highest ranked and most played class. However, I do find myself switching to the driller a lot. Where as with most classes I had to spend a little bit of time learning how to really make the most of their kit, drilling just came natural.

Way more useful than any full-length driller guide, honestly.

very much appreciated! i only have a hand-full of hours in drg so far - drillz is my favorite! i tend to reserve my charge packs for the big baddies or inconveniently big swarms (i've only tried solo/bosco so far). Once i'm good enough to do co-ops i'll definitely put charges to use as mining/battlefield prep. Rock and Stone!

Rock and stone! Nice to see a fellow driller that knows his thing! A fun trick I use for clearing some gaps is to jump toward a wall and drill down at a angle to catch yourself. May save you from a fall, has for me.

I agree, the earthmover mod for the satchel charge is a must because you can terraform the arena quickly, it can open up the refinery or deposit rig on the missions where they’re present, to make fighting bugs easier, and increasing the distance they must cover to reach you.

Some people complain about the damage done to the battlefield if you try to use it in combat. They forget that using it that way is also a liability for a power attacking scout. Or a burning hell gunner. Or a cycle overload engineer. Dont have that risk by using it in terraform purposes.

Driller used to be my least favourite out of all the 4 classes. Though he was slow and a slog whenever i'm in the Glacials or the Bogs. Recently started using him to just promote all my classes at least once, and I've found that the driller is the final piece that brings a team together. He's probably the closest thing to a """"support"""" class in the game. He synergizes with a full team to bring out the best in all of the other classes. I've a newfound respect for the Driller, and I was wrong to doubt the strength of his utility and CC

As a Scout main I can say being a good Driller is the best skill in the game. It just involves so much creativity, which, not always your teammates will understand :D

Driller is such an op and easy to play character. Huge AOE dmg, creates shortcuts and paths, remove obstacles. Somehow it's the least played character, I suppose a lot of people still don't know how to read the 3D map.

Well gunner gets to have 4 "get out of jail" cards in form of shields, barely any weapon downtime, ziplines that are pretty good going down and insanely good at transportation of big objects like mule legs or eggs and greatest "overall dps" (as in sustainable, ammo efficient, high dps) aaaand, if you really want to get into the detail he is your best bet in shooting down red sugar. Everyone gets to be overpowered.

3:04 Even then, what I personally do in a case of tunnel - cocoons is place a Satchel charge, get the team into a better arena, and THEN start the fight by exploding the Satchel. Can be a bit weird with normal Dreadnaughts, but as long as they can dig it will always make the fight easier - if longer.

I've always loved the driller the most, though I did recently find out that I'm a fan of the engineer as well

The only time I have trouble is when there's resources out of jumping reach in a pillar. That's when I'll tunnel into the ceiling and then drill down into my target.

for some reason i found the scout running in and out of the dreadnought safety tunnel was funny

I'm a gunner but I will get mad at anyone saying that the driller is a cut down gunner. Me and my friends were playing DRG a lot of time without a driller and when finally we manage to get another friend in the game and choose driller the difference was massive for better. It was like seeing the light at end of the tunnel (pun intended)

All people underrate driller because you can dig the same with pickaxe but you have to consider that to do a bunker with it you will take 1/2 hour....try t reach escape pod digging with pickaxe...I personally love this play driller

Newish to the game, but I'd say the cryo canon (which you can upgrade to) and throwing axe are an incredibly powerful combo

Driller is not shit at combat. The flamethrower is king at crowd control with sticky flames. And the cryogun pairs beautifully with the gunner for rapidly freezing and exploding enemies. Plus, let me know when you find another class that make quick work of the blasted detonators.

One thing you forgot to mention, don't dig straight down,you be making death pit trap for others.

tip : If you just got cryo cannon, No you can’t Freeze the ghost on haunted cave

I once made a trench to deal with the OME plasma cutters

I'd prefer 3 instead of 2 on the 1-st tier. You can't walk fast enough with both mining speed upgrades, and, as such, the benefits of both equipped at the same time are miniscule.

i main scout and have a problem trusting drillers with bunkers most of the time because i can almost guarente im not going to die if the room is open enough in a swarm, all it takes is a detonator or something else unfortunate to kill everyone in the bunker

as driller i find myself suffering when facing dreadnoughts. but i typically just drill around or when someones down i drill straight underneath them so i can't get fireballed while i make a revive

Driller might not be the most optimal dps machine. But it is the best transversal machine. Aslong as there is stuff to drill, there is a path

There is only one way to get to an objective and that a straight line.

Seriously, I was expecting some guidance on reaching high resources like nitra with the driller. When I'm drilling a tunnel to reach said resources in high places, I usually miss the spot of where they are located, I have to get out of the tunnel to look at them again and make sure of where they are to then again try to lead my tunnel to them. It can be annoying sometimes

Outdated. You want barbed drills. Drilling faster only works if your movement speed matches, which we found out... We cannot do. Might as well take the damage buff.

Most of this is outdated or obvious to modern drg drillers man. It's interesting to see the level of play just 2 years ago though.

Why blow out a hole in the bunker? that seems like it would be it harder to position well and if any enemies get through the tunnel they'll spread out and become hard to hit.

You say that, but I use my drills for max fuel with some damage and a cryo gun to vampire off health...
