Dressed to Kill (Brian De Palma, 1980) The Cinema
Фильм және анимация
One of Brian De Palma's greatest self-reflexive visual tricks, equating voyeurism and violence with the cinema itself. From his classic thriller, Dressed to Kill. With Michael Caine.

Outstanding
Watched this film yesterday for the first time (in HD, yay!), and this scene was pretty tense and the jump scare with the razor in hand got me, lol. Love the creepy scene with Caine in drag wearing the nurses' shoes and killing the hooker. I didn't want her to die, and thankfully she didn't, but this scene is almost like the ending to Carrie, when it turns out the protagonist didn't die, and will forever have nightmares as long as they live. THAT is scarier than just being killed.
This film couldn’t be made these days
Love this score!!

Classic it is!!
Brilliant.
Brillante!
Absolute Brilliance of Master filmaking @ 2:09. The camera pulls up as the dark blue hue scene pairs wonderfullly as Donaggio's scores rises to a crescendo.
I was reminded of the movie critic Pauline Kael's statement about DTK that "the pleasure of the suspense is aphrodisiacal". This seems to be really demonstrated in this last section of the film. Is it just me, or is Donaggio's music reaching a sort of never-ending climax/orgasm there at the end? :)

La S I always thought that Donaggio's music on the overhead split diopter final shot of the asylum scene was doing exactly THAT. And wonderfully worded quote by Kael there that is one of the many artfully unique traits of this film, probably the first and far and away the best of the nascent "erotic thriller"genre. This scene is just filmmaking perfection on every level, from the blocking and edits to Caine's performance, from the voyeurism and lighting to the music and sound design. Frightfully intoxicating DePalma. :)

I love the way the shots are unconventionally framed (the high camera focusing on the emptiness between the beds for example, not the beds themselves), the surrealistic lighting giving the viewer the impression this might be a dream, and DePalma fucking with the audience... because you think Caine's character is doing something "dirty" by stripping the nurse, but it's only in the next scene you understand what his motivations were (and I love how the film keeps going back and forth between classy Hitchcock inspired cinema to trashy slasher 80s B movie). Lastly, the creepy inmates hooting like apes at what they're watching, not unlike the aroused audience in the cinema getting off on what's being presented, is creepy... but maybe because it's a reflection on US, not just the mentally imbalanced patients.
If possible, please post more clips. Thanks!
Following assault on nurse, state launches initiative for Tewksbury State Hospital employees to lodge complaints
Attractive nurse, unfortunately the actress who played her mysteriously died a couple of years ago

It's probable that she was killed just like in this scene in fact. She was practicing as a nurse and was strangled and had her neck broken and was stripped and then dumped in the ocean.
This scene gave me nightmares when I was younger
Wish the movie would have just ended here instead of that carrie ripoff.

Seth Myers I actually thought the same, I think it wouldve been scarier like Halloween & Silence of the Lambs.
