Here's a drawing of a wolf with black and white charcoal pencils. I used Koh-i-Noor Gioconda pencils on a 1000 grit waterproof sandpaper.

I use two types, hard bristle brushes and soft synthetic brushes, all of them flat brushes

Could you say again what grade (grit) of sandpaper you're using? Is this the same as you might get from a hardware store?
