    200 V8 got more power at first because of 8 piston even on the low RPM, 300 v6 starting got the power at high RPM because of the twin turbo, for offroad we dont need speed but power on low RPM, for efficiency and long range 300 is the winner, for offroad hill, sand , mud and crawling v8 definately the winner

    "Destruction Testing!" That's impressive! It would be interesting to see if the 300s discs warped or its pads burned up to be less effective? I think that Ruben is right, the 300s auto box has the edge over the 200s and that certainly helped on the drag race. Toyota put its "Research and Development" money into the drivetrain, the engine and gearbox for the 300, the looks are similar but it's lighter and the V6 with the turbos in the valley makes for a compact package, let's see what the mechanics think about working on it? In my opinion....... it's NOT a HUGE LEAP FORWARD but it's an upgrade!

  • @dirtymuddyweekends

    @dirtymuddyweekends

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Josey - the 300 didn't warp the pads and it still continued to brake very well when hot. It was quite impressive! Some of the things you mention will take some time to really know, but it is good to go through the process and learn more about about the car.

    @@dirtymuddyweekends, Thanks for your reply. When I think about the Landcruiser, the huge leap forward from the 60 series to the 80 series brought it from being an "agricultural vehicle" to being a very capable off road luxury vehicle. There's not that huge leap from the 200 series to the 300 series and only time will tell if the drivetrain is a great improvement. Another thing that Ruben didn't mention about the 300 was the amount of aluminium used in the body to reduce weight. Practically every panel is alloy, a lot more than the 200 and how durable is the body on the tough tracks? I am impressed with the 300s acceleration and stopping once it was loaded up with weight. Toyota seems to have got that right. Thanks again! 👍✌🍻

    The landcruiser 200 going off the line stronger than the 300 and then the 300 catching up and beating the 200 later shows that the initial shove of that big v8 diesel is still unmatched despite forced induction winning the horsepower war, and the drag eventually. I would always prefer the big v8

    As a diesel mechanic myself of 25 years experience in the trade and 10 years as business owner . I would have to have to say you can not make more power from a smaller engine without sacrificing longevity hence the reason all heavy road transport vehicles are over 11 liters engine capacity. The only reason you drop cylinders or capacity is the beat emissions. It's not for more power not better economy not for more torque its only a v6 now for emissions reasons facts.

    200 series jumped the line in all bar the last race where the 300 wiped the floor with it. Going off PDrive who do these tests for a living the 300series is within point 2 of a sec from a V8 patrol. I know you love the 200 Rueben I love them to but the 300 series flogs a 200 in a straight line. Case closed.

    @@dirtymuddyweekends I’ve had one done which is a big improvement but the torque converter lock in 5th is the biggest remaining annoyance. It’s such a pity that after 14 years of production Toyota never sorted this. I get the feeling they changed the shift points for the diesel as an afterthought but never really bothered to do the job well. It seems to want to get the revs to 3000rpm any time some torque is needed which is probably about right for the NA petrol engines in the US and Saudi but all wrong for the diesel we get. It’s only a theory though.
