Dr. Z CAZ-45 Amp Tones 2022

Not really a demo, but showing some tones of the amp. Les Paul straight in, 4x12 with Greenbacks and Creambacks. 421 and 57 and that's it. Reasonable volume, like some volume, but not loud enough to play with drums.

    We have a lot of taste in common. You only play songs that I love, and in addition always with a great sound, you are a great guitarist bravo, and long live "legs diamond" !!!

    I love the sound at that first Legs Diamond record, the vocals, the drums, the guitars, the organ, the bass. All of it! The amp, it kind of has traits of all those old cranked Marshall sounds, but has its own sound which covers a lot of that ground somehow. As always, thanks so much! 🙏

    Another excellent video Adam. Thanks for the time you take to demo the great versatility of the CAZ-45. No pedals just plug-n-play, genuine overdriven tube amp tones, I especially liked the Pat Travers Band stuff, never can get enough PTB.

    Well, you guys made on heck of an amp! And yes, nothing really beats the musicality of the tubes doing all the work. Still amazed at how dead silent is too with all that gain. Travers - that mix of funky and heavy riffs still gets me, and he always had the best drummers and bassist making the whole more than the sum of the parts, IMHO. 🙏🙏

    ty! Amp sounds cool to me and simple to get a sound out of. The riffs, I just thought they were cool and maybe some others who hadn't heard them would think the same and look into those songs/artists. 🙏

    @@AdamGotheridge how’s the amp feel or sensitivity? I know that’s hard to explain, but I’ve heard it’s really responsive, you can feel and hear every nuance without it being muddy or with too much gain. How would you explain it and is it one of your favorite amps of asl time? Thanks for the response. 👍

    @@glenwoytek4079 Hard to answer too. 😉I think it feels great. If feels a lot like you control the amount of distortion with how hard you play, like even with the gain pretty high, it can sound quite a bit cleaner if you don't pick so hard, particularly with something like a Strat. It's not a "stiff", unforgiving amp. Muddy, not at all. It's got some "give", like it's not a real percussive amp. Favorite amp of all time was probably Splawn modded 100 watt plexi with kt88's (before he started making amps). It wasn't very practical, and you had to turn it up to near death volume, but it sure sounded good. I picked up a Splawn Quick rod about 15 years ago in search of that sound, but it's not quite the same. That one is too loud too, I rarely play it, and only with an attenuator. The CAZ you can play at any volume and it sounds good. Most of the time these days I just play pretty clean. Hope that helps! 🙏

    Killer Adam. A new band name perhaps? Anyway, The Z's are I think the most versatile combo amps made today. Slight volume changes, attack and intensity is like forever nuanced. My favorite stuff here are the Travers riffs, not only because of the tone you employed but also I HADN"T HEARD SOME OF THEM! Which is amazing to me really. Back to the vinyl collection. Thanks again for sharing.

    Those Travers riffs, he has a ton more that are just so cool. Glad they came across a bit without the context of the band/song, and particularly without you recognizing them. Cool cool 😎😎

    Awesome! Those sure are wonderful sounding cabs. I sometimes take the wheels off an on, sounds a little different each way. I do kind of wish I had the BX cab instead of the AX, but not that big a deal. The EMS - I'm sure one will pop up at a reasonable price at some point if you want to go that route. There are advantages/disadvantages to each (can/ems), but I think it's hard to beat the gain sound of the CAZ at really any volume. I guess you could say the EMS is more old school and CAZ more modern. 🙏

    String on this are D'Addario NYXL 11-49, tuned down 1/2 step. I generally use the normal D'Addario 10-46 set. The Les Paul is a 2005 that I bought new, 50's neck. 🙏

    @@AdamGotheridge Thank you for your reply Adam, I use 11-52 Nyxl in standard tuning and I miss using 10-46 gauge it does not work for me anymore and I change over in 1997 to Daddrio 11-49 it good gauge to keep a Les Paul in Tune and I don't over bend to much and I don't go out tune either and Daddario make awesome strings to.Thank you again.

    Hi Adam, Would this be a good amp for all types of metal?

  • @AdamGotheridge

    @AdamGotheridge

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good question, but honestly, I have no idea! Most of the stuff I see today that is show as "metal", is some gnarly, aggressive sound that you can't get without a pedal and gate, and in general, is just sort of abrasive sounding to me. To the gate side, it's like people are using it as much to create a transient as much as they are using it to filter out a ton of noise. The CAZ by itself really makes no noise or hiss, even with a lot of gain, so that part of the gate just seems stupid to me. The CAZ has a certain amount of smoothness to me which is a lot like what happens in an old school amp cranked to death volume, but without that problem of the volume. About the best I can say is that if you like the sounds that I've created with this amp, then I think it will work well for you. If you are the guy who is used to having so much gain that you have to turn down your volume control when you aren't playing, maybe another amp would be up your alley. Note that I'm not trying to diss anything in any way, but I just don't feel like an expert on the whole subject.
