I am a man, and this story still made me cry... I just was so touched with the amount of suffering she endured to achieve her dreams! How she got her high school diploma while still being married to an abusive husband is beyond comprehension! She is amazing! An inspiration not just for women, but for men who feel they will never achieve their dreams! What touched me most was the power of visualisation... Even in such a small village, with no formal education, her mother and grand mother encouraged her to visualise her dreams! That’s truly an amazing!

How Ungrateful and selfish have I been to make excuses for the batons I have decided to carry. While it is true that It is not my fault for them being passed down to me, it is my fault for every day that I decide to wake up and pick it up again. Dr. Tererai Trent, Thank you for being a warrior of this life. I'm sorry for not doing my part for our community. Many batons are being put down.

If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough. You can, you should, and if you're brave enough to start, you will. Hi guys! It's me again :) You might have seen me before but my desire to inspire more people is what keeps me pushing to reach out more. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we just graduated college and were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I started it out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second one currently under construction but launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

This interview has been the most inspiring I’ve seen so far! 💕 I think it marked a BEFORE AND AFTER in my life. Thanks so much for bringing this to us, Marie! it truly makes me feel that I can achieve my biggest dreams in life if someone with so many challenges and perceived limitations like her could! It makes me think about how lucky I am, how grateful I must be, and how ridiculous I’d look if I let my (super silly) excuses take me apart from my dreams. There are two types of people as you mention in your book “Everything is Figureoutable”: the ones that that have REASONS to give up on their dreams and the ones that give RESULTS. I’d love to contribute with Spanish subtitles for this video if you allow so that more people that speak Spanish can see this treasure interview 😊! You are one of my biggest sources of inspiration (and thought I should let you know)

I am so blessed to hear this story of passing the baton today. The universe directed me to listen to this today. This has had made such an impact on me. I work with at-risk kids and families everyday in family court, who I hope I am making an impact in their lives in this way. But this... is so profound! I will remember her message & pass it on to as many people as I touch. I plan to buy many of her books to pass on to the women in my family, the women in my life & others so that they too will ‘pass a better baton’ on to those that come after them. This makes it more important for me to follow my dreams, the dreams that I have carried with me my whole life... some realized, others yet to be. I love love love this interview!! Thanks Marie for bringing her to us!!

The part that struck to me the most was when she said that "You have the power within. It's not your past that's going to define who you are, but it's what you believe about yourself, it's what you believe about your expectations, what it is that you expect from yourself." I have always been worried about my past being the reason why I've failed so much in life yet I realized that my past happened to shape me to become the person I am now. A girl fighting and working hard for her dreams despite all the circumstances I've gone through. Today, while I was watching your interview with Dr. Tererai, I am determined to realize my dreams and to really know what and who I want to become and I can only do these if I will start believing in myself and in my dreams and yes, I will. Thank you so much Ms. Marie Forleo and Dr. Tererai for such an amazing and insightful conversation! May you inspire more people, more women to keep believing in their dreams and to never let difficult situations hinder them from attaining success. Much love!

Deeply moving!! Thank you Marie for donating - this made me cry tears of joy! I just returned from 3 very remote wildlife camps in Kenya and visited schools with 1,000 children and no books. I tried to give the girls a talk about careers but realized I was out of touch with their reality since they didn't even have books. I will be buying and sending several copies of this book and mail to our wildlife guides there for them to give to their wives to read to the ladies in camp who can not read. What an incredible role model!

"I knew at the end of the tunnel, despite its darkness, there was light. And I knew I had the solutions in me." This insight struck me because I am currently in the process of figuring out my dreams and what I want from life, and also what I have to offer. It has been a dark road for me and I feel as though I am always trying to gain affirmation and acceptance from outside of myself, not realizing that I have the solutions. I know what I need and want from this world, and it is up to me to make it happen. I have what it takes to make my dreams come true. I just have to get to work. One of my dreams is to be a published fiction writer and I am going to start practicing my writing and filling up books with my stories.

Tears of recognition and sisterhood from a fellow visionary - and gratitude for yet another amazing loving leader who broke the cycle of outdated programming. Let the ripples continue. Thank you so much, Marie and Tererai, for sharing your beautiful hearts!! Treasured Tererai, you have turned the baton of poverty into a torch of prosperity for generations to come - through your determination, your belief, your incredible strength - and your unshakable perseverance, beyond all odds. I applaud and celebrate you both! 💕🌿 🙏🙏🏽 🌿 💕 I needed to hear that right now, because BIG DREAMS can take so much longer than you'd think when you first start out, and the mind (and others) are quick to try to convince you to 'just drop it already and do something 'real''. Well, dreams made real ARE 'something real'. ... and your dreams are always worth persevering, especially when they're connected to the betterment of the world around you and your community. So, let's keep listening to that wise voice within and loving encouragement from that sage voice through all. Always ask "How would LOVE decide?" "How would FEAR decide?" With so much love and appreciation!

I have no words to tell you how deeply her story moved me and her courage , conviction and self belief are beyond inspiring . What got to me was that she has been so used to an unkind life and struggle that Maries kind gesture had her break down and in tears. I have experienced that often enough to recognise it . If only people knew the power of true kindness and generosity the world would be a much much better place . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you Marie this was mindblowing . Marie Forleo, thank you SOOO much for interviewing Dr. Tererai Trent - and I am crying my eyes out. I am so inspired by Tererai AND with your generosity for her seven young women going to college in the US. I lived in Africa for one year - and have a deep place in my heart for the depth of heart & soul that lives in Africa. I have no words for how touched I am right now. And on top of this, Tererai is living the message that my soulful work is all about!

😭😭😭 omgosh this tore the heart strings! The biggest part that i took away was "...its how our personal goals are connected to the greater good. Thats what makes humanity and thats what makes who we are as people". As well as your dreams in this life will have greater meaning when they are tied to the betterment of your community. As a coach myself (in the very early stages - 3 months full time 🥰 yay) one of the biggest things that resonated with me was around the betterment of the community and raising humanity in everything i do. I just rebranded my business and company to Rising Synergy and ever since its become a major platform for dreamers, action takers and individuals who are wanting to break away from the norm and actually live their dreams. Thank you so much Marie and Terei for sharing this and also for the amount of wisdom and hope you share for people all around the world!! Yous are my inspiration and one day I dream to touch the hearts and spread the possibility of achieving your dreams just as much as you do and thank you, thank you, thank you xx instagram.com/risingsynergy

How have I never heard of this phenomenal woman before?!! Talk about making me really see I do not have any excuse to be moaning about the batons I've been carrying through my choice. Just because I took them doesn't mean I do not have the free will choice to drop them anytime I want. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Marie, for your wonderful interview of the incredible Dr Tererai Trent - I love that you gave her the space to just talk, and your generosity. I was bawling like a baby at the end 💕 Joy 💗

Wow! Wow! Wow! I love all your content but this interview and Dr. Trent blew me away. She is such a powerful, grounded, balanced woman after so much trauma in her life. It is amazing to see a gorgeous flower bloom like Dr. Trent has. I'm inspired to go after my dreams of higher education, environmental restoration, and healing our global trauma of disconnecting from nature. I've had major fear about it in the past but this interview smashes all the excuses with a big fat sledgehammer. When she spoke about her indigenous beliefs and cultural practices I lost it. I believe so deeply that indigenous cultures offer major clues to our global healing and connection to the systems that keep us alive (nature). Dr. Trent is a gift on all levels. Thank you Marie for being so open and giving with the content you find and share. I value your work so much. You've become, and introduced me, to so many strong, brilliant, women that I see as my mentors now. I'm truly grateful for that.

Thank you so much Marie and Dr. Tererai. This was the most moving episode ever. I have tears of joy and well to be shame that I have held back my talents after a loss a year and a half ago. I really have no idea where the fear leached into my life from but I tell you this I am not giving up. This has given me a foundation to muster my courage back up. I am 61 and fit, healthy and capable and I see that this is enough to build myself back up with. I am doing B-School again to build the business know how muscles and will from here on out move forward with visualized intention and the four c's: courage, compassion, consciousness and commitment. Thank you so very much for lighting my fire again.

It’s hard, sometimes I feel like giving up, I feel like I am behaving as a teen but life is worth it, I am worth it, and dreams are worth it.
