Kates book actually helped me make my decision to leave my aggressive corporate career and stay home with my kids. It truly is a blessing. Ladies, let’s free ourselves from this hyper aggressive spirit of work. I’m rooting for all of us. ❤️

I was busy typing notes and got so embarrassed when Kate said we use our task list as a brain dump....I was taking notes in Todoist with a couple Overdue items glaring at me! Oh boy! So many actionable items from this conversation ❤ Know your vital few. What is my 20%? Looking busy, but not moving forward. What makes the biggest difference...what creates the best results? Vital few: Things that you and only you can do and you are the best at. Ask yourself: Does this need to be done? Does this need to be done now? Does this need to be done by me? What part am I playing in allowing this particular dynamic to continue? We are better when we are interconnected.

I loved the 3 ideas for changing our relationships 1. change the side of my dance (what are you going to do about it?) 2. wrap yourself in your magic bubble ( this is my term, because I've been doing it for a while) 3. limit the time you spend with them (boundaries) I really needed this, and I'll start applying them today :) Also, asking for help every day. I put it on the list that I read in the morning, to remind myself that it's a gift for someone else to help me. Thank you so much, Kate and Marie!! xo

Love this episode! I think I’ve been on the “do less” train my whole life, but believed that I was “lazy” and felt incredibly guilty! I’ve always gotten shit done, but also always feel like it wasn’t enough. I feel so validated and freed by this idea that less is more and I can stop judging myself. Thank you both! 💛

Thanks Marie! and Kate! The biggest insight I got is to do what you are best at. So when I'm home after work and scrolling through social media instead of spending fun quality time with my family, I will think about that. I will ask myself "Am I good at scrolling through social media or am I good at being a fun, loving wife and mother?" I think this is really going to be a positive tool for me.

When you let go of negativity and all the mental obstacles that get in your way, then you really start to see results. You have to trust that the universe and your ancestors are always conspiring in your favor. Just live your life and trust! Hard to do, but it works.

I wanted to thank both Marie and Kate for this terrific conversation. I'm the Founding Director of Hidden River Arts, an interdisciplinary arts organization -- and as an aside, have been told by countless "business coaches" that I'm not a "business woman" since I work in the arts, both as an artist and in supporting and acting as midwife for other artists' projects. I think it IS harder for those of us in the arts to be taken seriously, and it is harder for US to want to handle the "business" side of our projects. I often find myself spinning my wheels, feeling paralyzed by seemingly immovable "to do" lists, getting discouraged by feelings of inadequacy, no matter what I manage to accomplish. For the last two years, I've been focusing entirely on my arts organization, having left academia so that I could work full-time with my own projects. But that has meant a 7-day, nearly 'round the clock work schedule which, admittedly, doesn't accomplish anywhere near as much as you would think it should. I really appreciated this interview, and plan to buy both Kate's and Marie's book, since I think they will both offer support and guidance. The one image that I appreciated SO much was that of the hose -- the mist v. the full force flow of water. Most artists I know are naturally ADD-types, with lots of ideas, lots of projects, lots of plates spinning. I think I live in a mist. But I see that I'm going to have to be able to shift that misting to full force more often. (Even as I type this, it feels as though I'm going entirely against my super creative nature!). Anyway -- thank you both. You've certainly offered some preliminary guidance for this Queen of the Mist.....and I expect that your books will offer far more.

The greatest insight was asking for help early. Im still guilty of wanting to do everything on my own and you just cant. its more powerful the more people you have working with you and towards a similar vision. Asking for help and especially asking early is something I need to work on. People love feeling involved, and you improve the quality of the relationship or contact. To make this actionable Im working to see what strenghts I need and what to delegate to others accordingly. This was a great episode Marie! Thank you!!

Loved it! Asking for help is something I only learned after having two kids in just over a year. Now asking for help is on the schedule! And I have a new rule to accept help every time it’s offered. I have learned to be gracious and grateful, and it makes me so much happier to actually notice that people around me WANT to be there for me. I’m still working on it. Yesterday, someone offered me help and I said « no, that’s o... yes. » 😂 And what they offered actually did help a lot! It was so nice to be noticed and cared for in even such a small way. That’s my number one takeaway from being a mom and from this video. ♥️ Thank you both for sharing with us.

Great interview. Going deep instead of wide by getting distracted is the key to success and excellence. I was shocked by the Harvard Business Review study about the ability to be in a high state of concentration. I have found my own concentration deteriorating over a period of time. I could get lost in work and be in flow and forget about time. I am now distracted mainly by my phone and other constant temptations of distractions such as social media. I will surely buy the book. Thanks for this lovely interview.

Also, Marie, I so appreciate your honesty and openness. When you talked about you sometimes still finding it hard to ask for help, I would only recommend a seemingly unrelated but insanely good book: overcoming sugar addiction by Karly Randolf Pitman. (since the years it goes with different titles each time) but technically what she is talking about is that there are some of us who have such high expectations of ourselves we FEEL that if we ask for help, we are: weak, undeserving, uncapable etc and we THINK that we should figure out and solve EVERYTHING on our OWN. Now, Im sure you already now that, but what could be new here for you is if you take a look at in which ways are you ATTACHED to the belief that you have to do everything all by your self. When I wanted to tackle my sweets-issue (I always ate incredible amounts of chocholates, sweets, cakes, you name it), imagine how surprised I was when I wanted to get rid of THAT, and this person was telling me in that book is that 'perhaps' I had many past experiences where I felt unsupported and my life was tough and I learned that I could only count on myself and THATS why I keep up with SUGAR. In the book she also says: usually those people overeat 'normal' food who want stability and grounding, but THOSE people eat a lot of sweets who are genuinely optimistic and want life to be SWEET! Now Im an optimist and a proactive person and this HIT HOME. I feel incredibly uncapable when I'd need to ask for help because I - from one hand - feel awkward doing that, 2: I dont want to 'owe' that person, even though I know the person and she/he would not think this way and 3: I feel like I HAVE TO solve it on my own because I ALWAYS had to be tough and thats the thing that got stuck with me. I now know that I reached the mental/emotional/financial level when I could 'ease' up, but for some reason this old thing has dragged on. I hope I could also inspire you a littlebit and could have maybe suggested something that would benefit your life too. In the book she says many things that helped enormously and if this is a pressing issue for you, I would recommend it to you too! Lots of hugs

Ask for Help often, strengthen the muscle. I don’t know how I’m going to put it into action, but I know that now that I’ve put it out into the universe, the opportunity will present itself. Can’t wait! 🥴

Boy, did this one hit home! I've been a single Mom & solopreneur for 21 years! I started my biz so I could put parenting 1st & did a pretty damn good job of being there with and for my son, who's now 23 and thriving! (Yay me! Yay us! We made it!!!) That being said, I feel like sometimes my fierce dedication to parenting cost me at a cellular level because I was trying to DO IT ALL. On a positive note, being a single Mom FORCED me to learn how to ask for help more frequently than I otherwise, AND I've learned (the hard way, of course!) that I don't have to do everything, by myself, all the time. I can ask other people help or hire it out or just take it off my mile-long *&%#@$! "to do" list altogether! Somehow, I think if I never get around to cleaning out the shed, the world will keep spinning! Life's too short to fill it up with bullsh*t!
