OMG it is such a relief and pleasure to hear from psychiatrists like him.This why question as to why a psychiatrist like him is actually able to intellectually challenge things or sense when things are off with the usual psychiatric dogma. I think those of us who have experience with psychiatrists and the system as a whole know the "safe"people like him who have genuine inquiry and concern towards their patients and those who are ona complete and utter ego trip and just want to unstintingly follow their psych dogma and actually are avoiding and blind to theor own personal issues. Its the ones who are honest enough with themselves to know how fragile their own mental health might be at times and to recognise that many of the patients they see are not that different to them but with ceertain situations and events that they themselves could just as easily be in that position. Psychiatrists like him are exactly what we need,we need more and more of them and its sad that they still are so rare. Bring it on and thank you once again for having such psychiatrists as this on.We need more of them !! Shame on all the others who don't ask questions and fail their patients over and over again.

Most get PSSD life long. Probably more than 50% of people developing PSSD. Happy histories these are not. Best wishes.

Im glad to hear this news from Australia 🇦🇺 I’m a survivor of PAWS and doing great mostly. I’m 3.9 years protracted. Cymbalta is the devil and Doctors are uneducated in slow, safe tapering methods.

Excellent as always by Dr. Josef. Hopefully Medicating Normal and he will address what to do to develop psychotherapy skills as the pills are tapered- eliminated. This is where Mindfully Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical BT, Marital Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Tx and Internal Family Systems, among others come in When the patient says to the Doctor Im depressed ..the response needs to be."What are you depressed or anxious about?" Then refer out for non-drug psychological treatment.

Yes, when someone is depressed or anxious - have an intense conversation with him and work out some improvements. This was the approach of Harry Stack Sullivan, through the 1950s. Then enlist him in happy clapping, stomping and laughing classes. This non-drug therapy is a Laughter Yoga approach to enthusing the subconscious!

Good for you. Ten years clean myself and like the hostess of this broadcast I still get symptoms. But they had me on for 24 years

It's so sad that doctors over prescribe these drugs. They do a lot of damage

Destructive - while doctors claim to be 'helping!'

I'm just looking for a little more answers because im in the dark about this. My boyfriend was put on clonazepam for 7 months and was not told much of anything and especially was not told if he wanted to discontinue it he needed to come back ans slowly taper of it. I should mention he was prescribed it for insomnia and to jelp manage his anxiety. Shortly before we got together he went off it completely cold turkey. He is now having serious side affects from grand mal seizures, severe aniexty, not wanting to eat, tremors and the list goes on. And also for whatever reason he had been five years sober and shortly after starting the clonazepam he has relapsed with drinking. I am just trying to see what i can do to get him the best help and asking as many questions as i can since this is new to me. This is very hard to watch because he's literally become a shell of who he used to be.

She mentions Allen Francis. In 2012, he said on T.V. - "Psych drugs cause mass shootings!"

Ketamine made me worse! I did large IV 50mg and I pissed blood couldn’t move went to hell couldn’t breath. It was the heaviest feeling ever. I’d say it was worse than the CT itself.

I would not touch any of those drugs he talked abt. Ketamine? Really ? G*d. I have pain from tapering Benzo's ...I just have a limit as to how much I can cut each time, it has to be very small, if I keep it small I d not get the pain.

I went cold turkey off Xanax 16 months ago. I’ve developed mild agoraphobia and can no longer drive on freeways. My symptoms are getting better as time goes on but the freeway problem is getting worse. Has anyone else developed phobias like this? I used to love driving and have driven all over the country. Now I have to take surface streets.

Wondering if the Dr is referring to Ketamine for people who are off their Benzo or is it ok while tapering and in tolerance wd?

I had a adverse reaction to 3 doses of ssri (Lex) 7 months ago. I wish I could hear of cases that have recovered from this as there aren’t many. I’ve maybe come across a handful. I feel as if I’ve had a set back and currently in a terrible wave. I hear so much about the benzo community, and those struggling with tapering or ct’ing anti-d’s, but what about us who only took a few doses? I refuse to take any meds. No supplements, no otc meds.. nothing. I suffer through the migraines and all the other symptoms because this has been so traumatic. I’ve never felt so much fear in all my life. I would love your input on this!

Hey, how are you now?? I hope better! I’m going through the same thing right now, wasn’t on Lexapro but a week and before that I did a week and a half of Clonazepam. Have had burning skin sensation throughout my body since then, 6 months now. I am better than I was a few months ago, but not there yet.

@@kristengray5668 hey! I’m 13 months out and still going through it unfortunately. I caught cvd 2 months ago and it set me back pretty bad. I have severe insomnia, terrible anxiety (chemical), racing thoughts and really bad adrenaline/cortisol surges throughout the night. I am better than I was since beginning but I’m still bad off. I feel if my sleep would come back I would ok to handle the rest of it. Happy to hear you are doing better! Just takes time

@@kristengray5668 it’s truly a traumatic experience! I hear most people start to feel better around 18-24 months (some sooner, some later) but the vast majority. I’m praying we all get through this!!

Im going through wtlithdrawal from clonazapam. My doctor had me on this drug for 11 years. I had no idea this was not clinically wise. So, now I have just recently halved my medication dose from 1 mg to .50. I'm not sleeping much and I now experience chronic back pain. My doctor is aware of my going off drugs but I don't trust him concerning these drugs any longer. I'm not sure what to do or who to turn to. The withdrawal symptoms I have learned are longer and harder compared to alcohol and other addictive drugs. What should I do as I go through this withdrawal. I'm on vitamins under a consultation concerning my situation. I have friends checking in on me and my husband is helpful. I'm intimidated on my doing it alone but I don't trust doctors now. Do you have any suggestions?

It is usually time that heals folks. Some folks do opt to reinstate or updose as well, depending on their circumstances w their taper and how quickly they went, how sick they are, how far off, etc.

And when the spigot runs out we are going to have a massive meltdown. When do we get to tell them it causes permanent brain damage and essentially sterilizes them?
