A lot of websites tout the benefits of fermented vegetables, like sauerkraut, fermented pickles and kimchi. And research does suggest some health benefits with fermented vegetable consumption. However, a number of large studies have also documented significant increases in esophageal and stomach cancer for individuals that consume fermented vegetables on a regular basis. As such, it’s worth reviewing the literature in order to understand any potential health concerns.

You can get, or make, vegan kimchi that contains no fish paste or sauce.

Not all kimchi has anchovy paste. Just get a plant-based one. They're available at most stores and delicious.

@@GLVSCOWThe plant-based one still has seaweed which is seafood. Besides allergies, not everyone eats animals.

Does vegan kimchi provide the same health benefits as kimchi with fish in it?

Sauerkraut allowed ship to sail globally without sailors getting Scurvy . Tons of Vitamin c and it keeps indefinitely. Happy New Year Rosh Hashanah 🎉🎊

Do your research, Doctor. There are many Kimchi brands on the market that do not contain fish or any seafood. I eat Cleveland that contains cabbage, mustard greens, apple, garlic, carrot, green onion, salt, Gocugaru red pepper, and ginger. Naturally fermented sourkraut is excellent as well. Avoid any brand with sugar! BTW, I am a retired physician with also a PhD in nutritional biochemistry.

Except that sauerkraut you’re eating is probably pasteurized, I get the kind in little bags that can expand from fermentation

curious, what about the small packaged chinese preserved (pickled) radish or turnip packets that all chinese grocery stores sell very cheap (like 3 packs for 1.00)? Is this also a fermented probiotic and beneficial to gut?

Joe, I have been eating Kimchi for a few days now, and I note that more than one small serving causes diarrhea . Does this pass?

Are you eating carnivore with fermented vegetables. I want to try this but haven't seen any testimonies online. I'd love to try carnivore but with fermented veggies, mushrooms, nutritional yeast and morninga powder

@@Laughandsong Dude, red meat is probably the worst thing you can put into your body other than meth or poison in general. It's as inflammatory as it gets, lacks nutrition (unless you consume organ meat instead of muscle meat which is high in calories), is high in bad cholesterol, and can lead to severe health issues related to your heart and arteries. I'm 42 and haven't ate red meat in over 21 years and when I went to my last high school reunion I was by far the youngest looking guy there and all my old girlfriends resembled old women.
