Dr. Jamila T. Davis on Her ‘My True Crime Story’

Dr. Jamila T. Davis has a story of redemption and following her dreams.
She became a multimillionaire by the time she got to the age of 25. However, in 2008 at age 31, Davis was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for bank fraud in New Jersey. During her time behind bars, she made the decision to turn her life around by earning an associate degree in psychology, bachelor’s in Christian education and a master's degree in African American Ministry. Also, Davis is fighting to dismantle the trauma-to-prison pipeline.
Her story will be featured on the VH1 Series “My True Crime Story,” hosted by rapper Remy Ma and will debut on Aug. 2.
Davis joins Laverne McGee on “Black News Tonight” to talk about her story.
All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”

POWERFUL! This is why your struggles MUST always lead to your success... her story is remarkable. Sometimes God will hide you in plain sight so that you can get what he has for you. THIS IS TRULY A STORY OF REDEMPTION.

Of all the stories I saw on My True Crime hers is the only one that really stood out. She is too intelligent, it's impossible for her not to be successful by book or by crook.

It's Definitely not a Racist story. The problem is people don't know the Case files to understand what's going on. With it comes to the federal courts they don't have to Show who the Witnesses are. Inorder for them to do what they did like they did, That was two inside people that told everything, and it wasn't any co-workers. Jamilia T Davis got real gifts and when the people around you not like that, And they was there before you was on earth They become Jealous. Jamilia T Davis better figure out the Snake before she end up back in there again, because it always comes when your successful. Right about now is the time for it to come back around, Once jamilia T Davis get the spot light. Jealousy

Like how she painted her story as "helping others" u can tell she doesn't regret what she did and learned zero lessons. I'm sure she's still scamming in one way or another.

Did u not hear what the interviewer said @4:10 ? Must be hard to understand redemption. Must be nice to become president as a pedophile. Must be nice to to be a law abiding slave owner. Yea no, Karen. She earned and deserved it.

@@MitchMaxMuzik Are you dumb? Her saying at 4:10 “ you’ve done more than people who haven’t went to prison,” just verifies my point!!!! She ONLY was able to do this because she went to prison and got FREE education. My comment has nothing to do with forgiveness or redemption or anything remotely close to that… Nice try though. It is a ridiculous concept that we live in a country where you can get a masters degree by committing felony crime, but can’t get the same financial help if you are a law abiding citizen. The overuse of the word Karen is comical, and expected from unintelligent people like you. 👋🏽
