@@maryhowsrd3381 St. Joseph was King first. That's why he had to die before Our Lord's public ministry could start. The title first had to pass from St. Joseph to Jesus, which is why St. Joseph is not there when Jesus goes public as heir to David's throne.

Dear Matt (and Brant also...)! The talk is fabulous. Really. I almost cried just from imagining how much the story is like the true Lord of the Rings, with Joseph hiding and defending the true Heir to the Throne and fleeing to Egypt. Wow. And btw - the joke about Eusebius' Church History - "We all have a copy!" - is one of the best naturally funny scenes I have ever seen. It shows how much all the greatness of the True Faith is always interwoven with humor... Thank you from Berlin / Germany! And God bless!

@@MatthewLeonard Thank you for your response Matthew. I’m an ordained Anglican priest in England, and have been so disheartened as the Church of England has moved in a ‘Progressive’ direction . For the last 4 years I have been deeply searching for truth, historical orthodoxy, and authority in the Church. I have been circling around the Catholic Church for most of those 4 years, and have come across incredibly teachers and theologians like yourself, as well as a wonderful contact in The Coming Home Network. I’m actually spending most of my time in the Middle East (another story) but currently back in the UK where at least I am able to by some Catholic books. God bless and thank you again. Jon

Where in the Bible does it tell you to pray the Rosary? A: As you know the bible does "not" tell us to pray the Rosary because this form of prayer originated only during the middle ages. )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Do we pray the Rosary to Mary or to God? The Rosary is a meditative prayer based on Scripture. When we pray the Rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us as we seek to grow closer to her son Jesus by contemplating His life, death, and Resurrection. BUT----The Holy Bible CLEARLY says in 1 Tim 2:5---For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, Does God lie??????

Wow...loved this talk so much. That part at the end talking about the one Word we know for sure St. Joseph spoke in the Gospels was so heart-tugging..that one Word he spoke was literally, THE WORD made flesh. It's definitely no joke that God works in mysterious ways, my mind is blown listening to this. I had to laugh when Brant mentioned that a whole tree can grow from a tree stump because that's exactly what happened to a tree l cut down last year..It's now a fully grown tree again .☺👍

Thank you oh so much for this teaching on Saint Joseph. I have had a devotion to this powerful Saint for most of my life and, in recent years, I thought and believed that Saint Joseph was conceived without Original Sin because of His most important role as the father of Jesus, the Messiah - Prince of Peace. It makes a lot of sense that it be that way because ‘The father of a prince is always a king’. It is indeed time for Saint Joseph to take his place along side of His Son and Spouse, the ever Virgin Mary. Thank you for letting me continue to believe what I already believe but with Scripture to back up my beliefs. Praise the Lord! Alleluia. Hosannah, and amen!

Thank you for this wonderful discussion on my favorite Saint after the Virgin Mother, Mary. Btw, I remember watching two other videos from other sources. One of them was surmising that the time around Jesus' birth must have been a Jubilee year (or after a Jubilee year), when land sold would return to the original owner. This could explain why Joseph, who had settled in Nazareth, had to return to Bethlehem for registration for taxation. Maybe among the reasons he stayed longer in Bethlehem, long enough for the Magi to find his family, was either he thought he could resettle there, to enable Jesus to strengthen His claim as Messiah, or to try to dispose of his land again, if he thought settling somewhere else was safer for the family. The other video had a small discussion about a speculation that descendants of David settled in that little village up north, all of them awaiting the Messiah--but no reason was given for it, despite Herod's wrath being a clear one. The name "Nazareth" was supposedly derived from Isaiah's prophecy that the Messiah will be born from a "branch (nasr) of Jesse" (Davidic line). This latter speculation feeds into my own leaning towards the belief that Mary herself is a descendant of David, because Jesus derives His blood and ancestry from her, although in His time, legal paternity seemed to hold more weight (e.g., in the case of levitical marriages) because that is what is entered in the genealogy records. But until I watched this video, I never thought of the true meaning of being of the royal House of David and the political implications of it under Herod and Rome. Thank you for this discussion!

I also reflected on the fact that Pope Francis has a deep devotion to Saint Joseph, which complements Pope John Paul II’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and also explains some of their differences in rule and style.

Great interview, I wanted to add a thought to St Joseph naming Jesus, in Mathew 1:21 the angel tells Joseph "...you are to give him the name Jesus..."

Thank you for this interview. Brant Petri is one of my favorite Catholic authors. I have one question, Brant mentioned Eusebius’ history. Are there various Eusebius’ history, that are different from each other? If there are, which book or publisher, which do recommend?
