“I have a problem? No lady, I have a *solution.”* Fucking perfect.
Stanhope is one of the very few who can pull it off. He's amazing.
The woman's laugh the moment he says "just assume the universe knows it's your friday"
A hangover is just your body's way of telling you that you shouldn't have stopped drinking.
Play this at my funeral.
I fucking love this human being
There has never been another comic, or person, that has ever been able to speak the truth like this... I found Stanhope in the darkest time of my life and he still made me laugh my ass off somehow. This man in amazing!!

I completely relate to this comment. When I found Doug, I would listen to him as if it was a form of therapy for me. I also admire how much courage it would take, especially nowadays, to get up on stage and be this honest with people. He really is a hero to many people, I hope he realizes that...

I agree. Stanhope connects to common reasoning
“I have a problem? No lady, I have a *solution!”* Drugs and alcohol in a nutshell.
A trip to Chicago around 10-15 years ago, took me to a Stanhope show where my wife and I wanted to show my best friend and his wife the Stanhope experience….and we didn’t know about the 50% factor. We were embarrassed and our friends were like, “WTF, this guy sucks!” It was an experience that still hurts to this day. , but after reading his books and learning to understand him a little better, I ain’t mad at him. Much love for DS

And, I actually like this kind of stuff.
What he said here stayid with me for Years, and will stay for more years to come.
Forgot this guys name so I looked up, "comedian who drinks and smokes on stage." Sure enough, Doug Stanhope was one of the first people mentioned.

"This is my dog "Patriot," I got him on 9/11." heh
"It's a fail-safe"
Thanks
My fav.... love him
The best there is.
I'm not much of a drinker but hell yes, this is true. When I want to go out somewhere, I try to find local events that looks interesting and whatever. Why not just drink and so mundane stuff instead? Much easier.
"....YOU have a problem".
I'm sad he's sliding into sobriety. We had a connection that will be memory. Thought we'd check out around the same time but soooombody decided life mattered.

Doug is right on more than one level First of all, ANY chemist will tell you flat out that alcohol is a solution. That's true. Secondly, I took the mundane stuff I did last night and poured gin all over it and I had a real blast. Sure, I feel a little off this morning, but that goes away by lunch and it's all good. We play drunk cards and it's awesome.
I do the same thing, just don't get paid for it.
Older I get, more this makes sense. Things just aren't that interesting anymore. Oh it's the nth time were going to a restaurant/cinema/someone's kid's birthday/relatives visit/ranch... whatever it is. Eventually all gets old. It's the same conversation, only someone else is dying lately or someone else is divorcing lately or having a new kid lately. It's boring as fuck. Alcohol solves all that. If only someone could bottle "same wonder you had as a child for experiences". That'd be the most sold product in the world. Our brains are a wonder and a trap at the same time. All it takes to spring the trap is time and repetition. "Go try something new! Have you done a pottery class?" Yes, I tried it. It got boring after the fifth class. "Go somewhere new!" I went to three continents. It got boring around the time I figured out cities are all the same except for the level of wealth that goes into public services. "Go see nature!" I've been to a lot of nature. Not a lot to do there, it eventually turns boring, itchy as fuck because there's insects everywhere and we're just not made to sleep on the ground, that's why we got cities, indoors and comfy beds. The stars are kinda worth it though, specially on some hallucinogens. But you should use those sparingly, or they'll just become like beer to you. Better to trip once a year and get the full effect and look into an entity's drawers than take regular doses, as Doug has already pointed out. After all this rant, I finally realized why people have kids. Because they'd get bored as fuck otherwise. Having and raising a kid adds novelty to the equation. Still I don't see the logic and morals of making someone who can't consent, into this kind of world, which is degenerating everyday. It's a bit of a crime to do so, even if you can provide a very good material life for them.
