Doug Bradley reads The Red Room by H.G. Wells (1866 - 1946)

Is a 'haunted' room genuinely haunted by the spirits of the deceased or only by our own fears?

I'm a grown-ass man (fiscally), but I still love it when uncle Doug reads me a bedtime story.

Doug, Even though Kimberly is no longer with us and it's going on 10 years this coming July, every story that you post, I know how much she would have loved them as do I. So again thank you for all the stories you read. I feel like she is here with me every time I listen and watch your videos. With Love, appreciation and gratitude Penny ( Kimberly's Mom )

Doug, thank you for these wonderful readings, and the biographical notes that go along with them. I am intrigued about what you are burning in your censer. It adds a wonderful character to your reading corner!

You are spoiling us! Thank you for sharing your time and voice with us. Some days I feel low and seems as if whole world is against me, and then I come here. A platform I had left for years, and now find here some solace in such unexpected way. Thank you once more for doing this for us. You probably have no idea how big impact you might have on some people like myself.

Great comment. I feel similarly. There's intimacy, comfort and escapism. Doug's reading, calm, straightforward demeanor and the choice of material is superb. Doug - what's the best way we can show our appreciation / make it worth your while? As an aside, I can highly recommend the Spinechillers series. I found it on Audible, but it's available on many platforms!

@@JamesGadbury And do not forget the simplicity of the setting. No fancy tech, no fancy editing - just a man and a book. It feels genuine and it is genuine. I would have not found this channel if someone else seeing my humble doodles of HR said I should come here. I am thankful to this lady over at tumblr - whoever she was - saying this channel exists.

His voice is warm, calm, and soothing. I can feel my blood pressure decrease as I listen. Plus a lot of these stories aren't necessarily well-known and a story stays alive when it's told.

@@theasinclaire52 Ah here you are - my little savior of the day, who told me this channel exists - isn't it a small world. Despite us all being continents apart, united by Doug's soothing voice. Sometimes life makes no sense and sometimes it makes perfect sense. i am honored by Doug's willingness to share their time with us. And I hope he will learn how important he is to us.

Ultimately Wells turned out not to be the Shakespeare of science fiction. Very much not to be.
