"Explorers in the further regions of experience" is such an amazing line. They genuinely don't have any identity beyond inflicting or experiencing pain I always imagine that they still feel all of the pain that their injuries would instigate, they've just changed enough from it that it feels differently to them

  • @MajinHercule

I read that the Cenobites couldn't actually distinguish (I guess on a neurological level here, clearly they can make the physical distinction) between pain and pleasure. So yeah, for us, getting literally ripped apart and being magically alive to feel all of it isn't exactly ideal, but for them it's like getting laid on a roller coaster. And you really can't fault them for wanting to have a good time. It's just....not OUR good time.

The Female Cenobite always freaked me out the most. She means business. No deals, no anything of the sort. Even Pinhesd hesitated and considered the trade. Female Cenobite was like "Nah. You opened box, you're coming with us regardless." And in part 2 she's even more impatient. This is such a great horror movie and I'm excited to see what happens with the new one.

First and second are great movies . If they do a remake it should be a challenge to watch but not for the sake of shock horror an extreme movie that’s well written but really shows the pain and pleasure concept of this lore . It deserves that . It needs a director that’s not like Eli Roth no offense to him but he is just gore perhaps like gasper noe or David Lynch . That would be a proper remake of this for me .

Its called... "studio interference" Which is why Clive Barker gave them the middle finger after the second. For the original Hell raiser movie the studios wanted pinhead to be a silent character. Barker had to fight in order to present him as he is in the books, chillingly hyper intelligent. PostHR2, the characters are abused by its corporate owners who simply bolted the characters into god awful scripts that when written originally, were nothing to do with hell raiser movies.

Priest: "Demons are not real they are parables, metaphores" Pinhead enters.. Terry Farrell "then what the fuck is that" *points to pinhead*". Pinhead walks up the church stained glass windows explode as he passed them, he looks at the priest holding a crucifix and says "thou shalt not bow down before any engraven image.. it melts... walks to the alter clears it the candles light up like blow toches and with pins from his head in his hands he holds his hands out and says 'I am the way'.... From what I’ve researched he used his experience as a prostitute being he wanted to explore the evil side of love, couple with the fact he used to visit hardcore S&M clubs in the 80s where people would get their bodies pierced for fun. If you haven’t read the source material I highly recommend it as it is so much better than the film in terms of it being a seriously twisted romance novel. Plus I liked the cenobites in the book better as they were…. Idk how to explain it other than they were so much more weirder in the book.

It's 1999, 3pm, you're at your friends after school, their family is serving dinner already, they've got this on VHS, 13" inch TV in their room, and you're just like watching this. You'll go out to skateboard after. I love this movie

Can’t stop rewatching this scene. Pinhead is the best villain of all time. The cenobites are so terrifyingly badass.

Frank and Julia are the true villains in that movie. Pinhead was just doing what he was meant to do. He is a collector of evil human souls. Think of hell as a garbage truck. Pinhead would be the driver.

@@FACF0416 I wish Julia came back in the later movies. I really liked her in Hellraiser 2 most. I like Pinhead but I wish they’d kept her too. She was really a sociopath.
