it’s important to note that you should double cleanse only in the nighttime, it’s best to cleanse with water in the morning time. I was double cleansing in the morning and night time and that is over cleansing and my skin barrier was damaged and it burned to even put on my normal moisturizer. Now I’m just washing my face with water and putting on Vaseline because my skin is so fucking sensitive.

If you can get Aquaphor, I highly recommend (and I believe Dr Shereen does, too, but don't quote that) If $$ is an issue, some stores make their own cheaper version, or, if you have good medical insurance, a general practitioner may be able to get you a prescription version. If not possible atm, no worries! The main ingredient in Aquaphor is petroleum jelly, and as the saying goes... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! 😊

Hi for those of you who have sensitive skin and don't wear make up, you don't need to cleanse twice. If you are using Vaseline (Shea butter is so much butter for us with irritation to PJelly!!) then you have to double cleanse at night to get that occlusive layer. Otherwise you won't be cleaning the skin underneath and it won't all come off. You can double cleanse with the same cleanser with this layer, but not makeup.

Double cleansing did irritate my skin (I have dry and sensitive skin). Now that I don't double cleanse anymore my face feels and looks a lot better. So I would say it's not for everyone. ❤

Does this also apply if you don't wear makeup? I do wear sunscreen obviously so idk if it makes a huge difference. I only cleanse once and I have no skin issues to speak of but I guess I'll try double cleansing and see what it does.

I usually use a cream cleanser and take it off with a muslin cloth, than micellar water, Bioderma, on a cotton ball...that's it ❤

I believe you don't have to, but if you do wear sunscreen then, you should double cleanse it.

I using incredibly deep clean cleanser and then a very gentle. Hydrating cleanser. and leave it on for a minute.

I think it depends tho… Not everyone’s skin is built same or in the same state. The very cloudy regions, alot of folk don’t wear sunscreen along w makeup may not need to if moisturiser is only being used after cleanser. May only need 1 wash depending state of face and which cleanser using

I agree I have dry skin so If I cleanse twice my skin will dry out and start to break out. Ur supposed to keep some of the natural oil ur skin has left. Otherwise you can strip your skin which can damage your skin barrier. However, I only double cleanse when I wear make up. That I don't skip on but double cleansing everyday is no for me.

Yes. If you wear sunscreen, it’s a must. Whenever you get a facial with an esthetician, most of them will also double cleanse your face. It helps ensure any and all free radicals, oils, sunscreen is off. And it helps you in case you tend to have skip areas for your cleanser

Using an oil cleanser as a double cleanser breaks my face during the summer because i get rewlly oily. I use miclear water as my double cleanser then wash off my face with my regular cleanser.

*I am not an esthetician or Derm*.... from what I have learned, it depends on the technique! As long as you pay attention, ensure there is a balm or oil to prevent friction, and you avoid excessive pressure, no tugging or harsh rubbing, and take care to be super gentle around eyes ( or maybe just avoid, not sure about that!) you should be fine. If I am mistaken, and/or have useful tips, plz share your knowledge (esp if you have the education/experience to back it up)

what about when you dont wear make up? seems a bit overkill to cleanse something thats dirty but not dirty dirty...

Yeah you probably can, coz the main purpose of double cleansing is to take the makeup , sunscreen or the dirt you got from being outside the whole day. So if you are not doing any of that you can just cleanse once properly

When you wear makeup , 2 cleanse must. But when i look at an African woman who doesn't wear makeup ,and her skin is gorgeous, doubts come to my mind about double cleanse for her.

Beginner here too. If I have this right, double cleansing is mostly just for people who wear make-up. Oil cleanser first, to get that make-up off and then a normal cleanser. That’s what I used to do when I was wearing make-up. Now I only wash with CeraVe, spread it around for about a minute on my wet face and then I let it sit for 2 minutes on my face, before I wash it off.

It's recommended for night time, because that's when you're trying to get all the grime of the day off your face. To double cleanse in the morning would just strip all the skincare products applied from the previous night. Hope that helped.

I check my skin condition every morning since it’s summer time and I have changed my pm skin care products and bought a lot different products to try and see which suits me the best. So I check in the morning, if I am not oily I skip. If I am oily I rinse with water or use micellar water to gently wipe off the dewy parts. It really depends on your morning skin condition IMO.

double cleansing means twice in a row not twice a day. but if you do cleanse twice a day double cleansing would be reserved for nighttime. hope this helps!

Yes. I’ve heard more and more that you’re in fact supposed to rinse off the micellar water bc the ingredients left on can cause irritation. Whether that’s immediately or over time, idk, but it’s not supposed to be good.

Yes. Double cleanse at night to remove the day from your face: sweat, sebum, pollen, pollution, sunscreen and makeup (if any). Give your nighttime actives a chance to penetrate and work effectively for you.

That’s not common sense by now? I mean you don’t have to even wash your face in the morning with cleansers. I usually check my morning skin condition and if I’m not oily I skip it. At most I use Bioderma’s micellar water. BUT night time! Please do double cleansing after your skin was exposed to so many pollutions and your makeup etc. Why is this still not common sense by now?
