Super helpful! I needed to cook elk steak for the first time and had no idea what to do. I followed your video and it came out perfect!. Thank you so much!

One thing that throws alot of people off about elk is that when it's raw , the exterior can be very very sticky
great video ninja!! I don't feel like digging through the freezer right now but I know I got either a 32 or 36oz bone in bison ribeye in there somewhere that needs to get eaten soon!! 😂😂 I actually need a separate/deep freezer since my normal freezer is literally packed so full nothing else can fit in there
good stuff
Dude says Number A & Number B!!
thank you for not adding an apostrophe in dos and don'ts
Yup, if there is no fat to render down, you might as well get it just above room temp and call it done. We eat a ton of deer meat and a lot of people will say it's raw because it's so red but doneness is a temp and that temp is low on deer lol
The Elk looked the best... seems worth trying... Take care Ninja!

My ninja I been watching you since the other channel you were on. Your content is great 🙂👍 I never knew how to cook bison or elk I have cooked it before I told myself I am not a fan. I'll give it another go after watching your video. I am having a hard time keeping track with the different temps times you mentioned sometimes with your wonderful accent it's hard for me to understand you. Can you please place numbers on the screen when you are mentioning temps or measurements etc? Thank you for your wonderful channel 🙂

Hey Ninja! Wouldn't it be fun to surprise Mrs. Ninja with a smoked bison brisket? Preferably cooked on a pellet smoker?! 😉 I did pop over to The Honest Bison and I want to try a brisket - but I'm scared I'll ruin it!
Great Vid! I have been blessed to have lived in or at least travelled to areas where I was able to have many types of meats: Moose, Caribou (American), Reindeer (Scandinavian), Elk, Bear and many smaller critters. The tastiest: Reindeer! Direct heat over a wood fired grill. The Norwegians really know their reindeer! p.s. Bear sounds exotic, but it smells like fish when it cooks...
@SaltyTales

Oh I had no idea about the smells in Bear meat... May be because of the what they eat? Great to know and thanks for the support! 😀😀

@@SaltyTales Yep. The majority of their diet comes from salmon, at least in the southern part of Alaska (we lived in Kenai, south of Anchorage). Unfortunately, the 2 times we had them-bear ribs- they were oven slow roasted and were tender, but the house smelled like fish for days. Would've been so much better cooked over wood or charcoal.

Bear tastes like Mutton to me.
Thanks for this video I have been overlooking my wild game like venison, elk and Buffalo. The key is the temp of 110° F and a quick sear. I have ways gone to a 128° and quick sear then a ten minute rest. I wonder if you treat grass feed only beef the same as wild game if it would improve the taste and quality, as it is a very lean beef much like Buffalo, deer and elk. Something to try. It is the grains that is fed to cattle to increase fat content in the beef, so we get the addition flavor from those grains going in the meat as fat we so much appreciate in beef. It like duck you don't cook it the same way as one would cook other poultry like duck breast you can cook 128-135°f for rare to medium rate but chicken it has to go above 160°f. If you cooked duck like chicken it would become drier and not as tender as it should be.

Is it just salt and pepper on there? You dont need to marinade?
@ThirdProletariat

I’ve done a pineapple marinade for some elk meat before it works too but I prefer something simplistic, like salt and pepper maybe some Cajun seasoning, I find that if you marinate elk or bison for too long, it takes away some of that sweet flavor that naturally comes from the fat, especially if you marinate it in something acidic like vinegar it tends to render out.

The Honest Bison is to expensive. There are cheaper sites out there.
Oh god just cook the steak for hell sake.
Any clue which was A and B?
number B is letter 1!
I thought this was how to cook bison not how to eat it raw?
Stop eating when you have someone testing the food! It affects there judgment! We know your excited! Cook eats last
Not a good video, things were rushed you never said which number/letter was which method of cooking and tasting. The editing was choppy and could be why it seems rushed. Overuse of “beefy” maybe try rich meat flavor, strong or bold(which was used once.) I’d give this entire video a number D+ 🤣🥷 better luck next time.
