I made this originally in 2023 (a year ago today actually), but never got around to posting it until now (which is May of 2024). :P This is a goofy video that features a preview of everything I do (voice acting... somewhat, music, drawing, comics, audio stories, and others). I think I planned to change some things or add some stuff or something in this recording, but so much time has gone by that I can't remember what that was and this sounds good enough to me, so I thought I'd just go ahead and post it. :)
I'll break each skill down and go a little more in detail for each one.
Drawing:
I've drawn ever since I was little, but I'm self-taught. I did take an art class in high school, but I made a C and never continued. Painting was never my strength (that, and I had a girl that sat next to me who always borrowed my paint brushes and literally destroyed them before I could use them). Today, I mostly enjoy sketching my characters in my sketchbook and making digital drawings. I'll usually post speed drawings and timelapse sketches that usually have some sort of commentary or at least some of my music.
Comics:
I don't have many comics finished, but I have a ton of ideas. It just takes so much patience and motivation to get them done. I'm pretty sure ADHD roams around in my head and I have a hard time staying focused on a comic (or anything for that matter) long enough to get it done, which is why I struggle to get about anything done. I can never fully focus on one thing, I'm always switching to drawing to music to comics to audio stories to whatever. But I'm trying.
Music:
In my music, I write all of my songs that isn't labeled a cover or parody. I also do the singing myself (unless it a collab with someone) and I perform the guitars, and sometimes the keys/pianos and brass instruments (trumpet, horn, trombone, alto sax). I also play mandolin (like in the background music of this video), but not very often. Most of the stuff I write as "Ben Mullins" is usually Contemporary Christian, Christian Rock, or Christian in general, but I'll also write songs about girls or to my future wife, as well as songs about my life experiences as a shy socially awkward individual. Doovie is a cartoon band project where I do not only the music and instruments, but also the artwork and characters' voices. Doovie typically does rock, but their sound varies. Then there's Colors In Gray (Doovie's electronic side project) and 3D (the goofballs Doov Dube & Duf doing music that is meant to be comedic).
Voice Acting:
I don't know whether to call the voices I do "voice acting" as much as I would call it "acting stupid in front of a microphone." I never script my stuff, so I can't say I'm professional. When I do script, I make it sound really obvious that I'm reading something. It just feels more natural if I do without scripts. But there are several voices I do for my characters: Doov, Dube, Duf, Doovie, Sheila, Dufah, Phil, Toby, Mack, Johnny, Li'l Boe, Ringo, Lucusor, Stupid, The Announcer Guy, The REAL Announcer Guy, DK, Santa, Tick, and others I'm sure.
