While this song applies to the few losses I've had lately (and for anyone else who may have lost a loved one), this song was written more specifically for an online friend I used to talk to on Facebook in 2015, who passed away about 4 months ago. We used to have so much fun in our conversations, acting silly, but a big thing we used to do was play Mario Kart Wii online together (she was a huge fan of Princess Daisy and usually played as her, as I've always liked Daisy myself... which is how we originally connected in the first place). We played many times before the Nintendo WFC shut down, which was also a sad moment. But I was shocked when I first heard of her recent passing and felt sad, but it has somehow hit me even harder this past week for some reason. Deep in emotion, I wrote this song coming up with the guitar chords and lyrics. A whole lot of tears went into this song and every bit of it is emotion driven.
Since we used to play Mario Kart together, the idea of a finish line just seemed fitting as she's finished her life here on Earth, I'm just looking forward to the day when I get to cross the finish line and meet her there, as well as many others I've lost (some recently too), but not as much as I'm looking forward to meeting Jesus face to face. :)
Some people may think online friends aren't that important or as valuable as real-life friends, but I would disagree. Some of my best friends with the deepest connections are my internet friends, and when this friend left us on this Earth, it affected me deeply... all the way on the other side of the nation. 🙂 So I just wanted to say that, while I'm thankful for all the real-life friends I have, I'm also very thankful for the online friends I have. Maybe it's just an introvert thing to be so deeply connected to our internet friends, but they're just as great as real friends.
