Today it's finally time for me to take another look at Doomsday Preppers, and yes it's still insane. See what I did? I didn't say "worse than I remember" even though I really wanted to. That's called GROWTH. Anyways enjoy and I'll probably make one about the kid in the beginning next month lol

What's the point of having a hidden bunker at that point if you're just gonna burn the spot cooking supper? Like these people just spend money and the industry selling bunkers are like "hell yeah we will put in all the things to ensure anyone in a 5 mile radius will see where you're at!!! Animal Kingdom really portrayed the preppers as a small militia, and they still lost. There's not much that a single family is going to be able to do, it seriously doesn't matter how much training they have. Literally the only upside that they would have, (especially the preppers with children), is home field advantage; you could have traps, nests, mines even, sniper spots, maybe even Vietnam status and have some holes to fall into with some sort of spikes at the bottom, like rebar that's been grinded to a point.

I actually used to watch this show when it was live and enjoyed it! There's one episode you haven't covered yet but totally should. There's an episode that takes place in Salem Oregon and it's about a guy that watched Red Dawn and that made him scared enough to start prepping and he actually started building a hideout in the city sewers. Now that's funny but what's funny to me is he lives a short walk away from me and his family owns a restaurant that I've been to. Small side note, I personally think prepping is fully valid but not because toilet paper was short during the pandemic for a week but more so the fact the government had the balls to try to tell me I'm not an essential worker and so too bad I couldn't support my family anymore or else I'm going to "kill grandma". Not to mention plenty of other occurances that happen on a regular basis from civil unrest to natural disaster. It doesn't hurt to be self sufficient and have a stockpile of supplies in case something happens. It could be something as minor as a work injury or losing your job. Also, did that blood on your hands make you become a prepper too? Lol!

He has a wood burning stove in an underground bunker... And he believes the apocalypse will be nuclear. That smoke from the stove needs to have some sort of exhaust system aka an opening to the outside. Pretty sure any nuclear fallout or radiation or what have you would be able to make its way into said exhaust system. Am I wrong?

  • @Jane-oz7pp

There's an underground home right up the street from me. I don't think they're preppers or anything like that. 1 part of the place is exposed and it's practically all big windows, so apparently they're not too worried about keeping the hordes out. It's more like what I'd imagine a modern day hobbit to live in.

While I completely agree that these people are different from the people who prep casually, the toilet paper was a HUFE issue. In my area, we NEVER had toilet paper. My family does a little prepping for occasions for shortages so they helped me. But I was about to resort to taking toilet paper home from work with how bad it had gotten. I used coffee filters, even towels when I was out just to wipe. I live too far from my parents to get TP from them all the time, but honestly, that's how I got most of it. Stores even had to issue just one bundle of TP per customer.

I was housemates with the oldest son from the Doomsday Castle family. He was the owner of a Rock&Roll themed bed and breakfast house in St. Petersburg, FL. He sold it, and all guitars that were on the walls around the house, before I moved in though. I only know bc my one college roommate lived there before I did. Brent (I think his name was?) was a weird dude. Acted and dressed like a 19-year old dude, but was like 42. He was pretty cringe. While we got along mostly, I never really liked him or spent time hanging out with him. Doomsday Preppers are some strange people.

Thinking they can live underground in confined spaces without driving each other insane is the real scam... you can plan ahead for everything except human nature and psychological frailty. But I guess solitary confinement and sleeping in each other's feces won't bother them at all. And I'm sure the children will be very understanding and be on their best behavior... Lmfao😅

The weirdest one I saw was a couple that canned meat. That wouldn't be weird as it is, but they just canned any little piece of meat they had. It seemed like they were even canning leftovers. So their house was littered with random jars of meats packed in liquids. I have no idea what season or episode it was, but [shudder]. One of them was also transgender and was hoarding their meds, but I can't remember how that went. That's not the weird part, the canned meat was.

Doomsday preppers think they’re the heroes, the vault dweller saviors from fallout. When in fact the preppers are selfish monsters, like the raiders. They’re the villains in fallout, but not the interesting or powerful villains, the chaff villains who took over a local grocery store.
