Agreed
I've been collecting bicentennials since the early 90's and have enough to completely fill an old, 3 lb Yuban coffee can. I estimate that I have over 1500 quarters as well as over a hundred half-dollars. Also about 20 dollar coins. Never figured they'd ever be worth more than face value, so now I'm gonna have to go through them all.
This is a GREAT coin-geek video, I enjoyed every minute of it! I remember when I was a kid in grade school when this quarter came out. I also remember the painting of all the fire hydrants with patriotic red-white & blue artwork to strut your patriot stuff. Ahhh, those were the days.
I agree... so this means that you hold on to it...
Thank you for the info explained in this video. Ive many many coin to search and all the info helps 😁👍
I love this ... keep doing what you're doing keep it up 🎉
9:31 9:33 thanks for all this information. It's great stuff to know.
Interesting that when I have a coin like this, dealers call it machine doubling but when the dealer has one like this, it’s a double die. Go figure!

99.9% are thieves they say don't clean your coins I sold a rare quarter to a dealer for 80 dollars, I know for a fact he used a Dremel with a soft cloth bit cleaned it like new and asked 8500 for it, ya they don't want us to clean them SO THEY CAN AND MAKE BIG MONEY. WHENS THE LAST time you ever went to a coin shop and saw a rough Condition coin for sale well u won't cause they are lying scumbags they want the opportunity of cleaning them and getting all the glory. I know this because I found out exactly how they do it and sent one that I cleaned to pcgs for grading and they sent it. Back to me with an ms66+ grade I cleaned the coin that was worth a little more than face value cleaned it properly came back an ms66+ worth $$725 these coin dealers make car dealers look like saints lol, just a bit of info that all people to know.

What about these quarters sealed in bicentennial proof sets?
I found a bicentennial that has a very shiny coating that appears almost gold. It has several spots of tarnish on the coating. Any idea why it’s so shiny?
Yeah, it's hard for me to see the doubling on coins. My eyes are bad.so I'm glad I found this video
Yep my brother had a DDR and it was so bad it made you dizzy it was located around the stars torch and E-PLURIBUS UNUM it was stolen after he passed away its a one of a kind and if i ever recognize a name tied to a sale im gunna 🤯🤬🤬🤬
I have 2 1976 proof sets I'm wondering if 1 of the quarters could be silver. it's in plastic so how do I tell

Several million silver bicentennial quarters were melted down in the 80's due to a silver shortage. There would have been a lot more out there. Thanks QC!
I have a steel cent with a big blotch on the back, the middle 60% is faint not sure if it’s a lamination error or struck through grease on the die but it’s interesting. I want to get it graded but I want to have enough coins to grade that it’s worth the effort.

If it’s a steel penny then it’ll be worth it no matter what.
I know silver by difference in the drop sound 👍.
I have a bicentenial silver with no mint mark. I plan on sending it out for grading.
I've been finding these quarters in my change lately.
I have a double die 2016 obverse what is it worth
So I've never been able to find or find out any information about a Bicentennial quarter i had when i was 7 back in 1996, the drummer boy was missing his left drum stick. Does anyone know about that one or is it a one of a kind i spent on a bag of hot fries?

I've been checking my change with a change scope for years, every coin. Searched probably hundreds of bicentennials, and over the years I've found two that have an error I can't find any info on.
@MintMiser
4 ай бұрын
What’s the error?
I've had a couple doubles, which I was told they were not. The best ones were where nobody I asked could tell me what the 1940's half's missing AF looked like. Engravers had to add them cause the die was worn. I "had" 4 or 5. Then I had a 41 Filipino dime with the die crack, but was told it wasn't. Then I had two 1941 us dimes and the words "in God we trust" were wavy, like so ~~ and this is my favorite answer of all. Post mint damage. It seems to me that in most circles a little guy can't have a coin. Only the big guys can find errors and such.

Ok i made no money on what I had because I'm poor white trash and am seen and treated as such. I had a few "dealers" tell me that I had nothing. I am financially unable to get anything graded and I am limited on what sort of equipment I have and need. All I have is a Moto g 5g. Nothing more. And the only reason I have that is because the guy at the store lied and said the one I really wanted was unavailable. So then help convinced me to get a Moto g 5g stylus. And guess what, that's not what I got. Boost is a disaster. They lie trick you and get you to take something that's isn't what you agreed on. I should have stayed with ST. Putting that aside back to the coins. I need a cheap but good digital usb microscope that I can connect to my phone. I have no other devices, no comp, laptops 😔😔 tablet or otherwise.
0:45 ... I remember my aunt entering this contest in 1974 (the contest began in '73) ... ever since the Bicentennial Quarter came out, neither my parents, nor myself ever spent any Bicentennial Quarters. As it stands today, there is a massive lockbox in my mom's house just filled with those quarters. I suppose it's time to visit Mom and carefully go through their "common coin" stash of Wheat Pennies, Bicentennial Quarters and all the half dollars/dollar coins Mom and my late father have saved since the 1950s. I know they just dump the coins into those lockboxes as they find them in their change, so most will be definitely circulated, but maybe, just maybe there will be a bright, shiny needle in those haystacks of worn needles.

You never know, it might be worth checking. Does your aunt still have a copy of her design entry for the bicentennial contest?
@johnathansaegal3156
3 ай бұрын
@@MintMiser I have no clue if my aunt has her copy. The whole family got together for a BBQ and "let's see if we can design something" party. All of my aunts, uncles (fourteen aunts and uncles if you can believe how large my family is) and my parents drew up designs, but my aunt was the only actual artist with talent to create something special. If she still has it, I would have to call her up and ask. I was only 6 back then, and my crayon drawing was NOT something to keep. I would like to know if she still has it, too. I don't even remember her design, but since she does have folders of her art, she might. I'll let you know if she still has it!

I've been noticing a lot of people putting information on here about our coins or American currency and other ones are foreign and they are not adequate about what they are saying actually telling us lies keeping us memorized it's not right to do this to us as we are all trying to have a little piece of the pie is nothing wrong with enjoying the freedom of our great country and enjoying the currency that keeps us all thriving although when somebody makes a mistake when printing such things out there is a tendency for someone to want to collect them and that's good but why do you want to throw it into the garbage and make it look stupid like everyone knows there's no peas use generally on mint marks on coins especially pennies thank you

You're absolutely right! The value of a quarter is ultimately determined by what someone is willing to pay for it. It's all about supply and demand! I wouldn't call them idiots though. I think we're all free to spend our money on whatever we want and if someone has an appreciation for a rare coin and they have the means to buy it, God bless 'em.
