‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣ THIS EPISODE ‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣
If you have been following us for a while, you know that we have visited Mount Rushmore twice before this trip, but our reason for coming back to this very special place in South Dakota was to share the experience of seeing the faces carved on the side of this mountain in the Black Hills with Jess’ mom and step-dad while they were on their first big RV trip across the country!
This entire journey for our family began after we lost Jess’ dad, so seeing her mom’s life come full circle and being able to share these incredible experiences and places with her was indescribable.
The first time we visited Mount Rushmore, we had the rig with us and spent just the evening checking out the sculpture and the night lighting ceremony. The 2nd time we visited the monument, we stayed in Custer State Park. For this trip, we decided to stay in the cute little town of Keystone at the only RV park with a view of Rushmore, very aptly named Mount Rushmore View!
It was the perfect location for all of our adventures with Jess’ parents and some of their friends who were in town for Bike Week in Sturgis. We got to check out Mount Rushmore including the new Visitor Center that was recently finished and the hike around the Presidential Loop. TIP: Be sure to hike the loop clockwise. You’ll have less stairs to climb!
We headed out to Sylvan Lake and the Needles Highway which we had never done before, because it was closed the last time we were in the area. It is tight, but you can drive a dually through all the tunnels on Needles! We couldn’t wait to take Jess' parents up to the top of Iron Mountain which has one of our favorite views of Mount Rushmore.
After flying around the pigtails (literally what the spirals in the road are called), we headed back to Keystone for some dinner and a walk around the town before heading back up to Rushmore for the night lighting ceremony.
For those who have never been, please make it a priority. As beautiful as the magnificent faces are when they are lit up against the dark night sky, there is nothing more touching than all of the veterans and active duty military walking up on the stage and being honored for their service to their country. Corey has had the privilege of standing with these other amazing men and women twice now, and we are all moved to tears each time. 🇺🇸
Stay tuned for next week as we stay at an extraterrestrial location that has been on Corey’s list for a long time! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new video!

That’s a huge compliment, seriously 😊🙏
That ceremony NEVER gets old. Proud happy tears there at the end. God Bless America 🇺🇸
This has feel good written all over it. Getting to introduce your family to a National Treasure that you can't wait to see again and again. I'm not sure there is a better feeling than seeing your girls show their Grandparent's places that you have shown them. Pride for Corey and yourselves getting to participate in the ceremony again. Never gets old. ❤
South Dakota holds so very very much that is worthy of visiting. I went for the first time in June 2023. There are sights and experiences I didn’t have time to enjoy, but what I did, I did well. I remembered the whole time I was there your advice that I shouldn’t stress over not being able to do everything. Instead, I departed SD feeling like my time was truly well used. I camped in Custer State Park and I think it must surely be the most beautiful State Parks in all of the USA. I LOVED it!!!
Mt Rushmore is beautiful and I honestly can't wait to go cross country and see with my own eyes one day. Again I love that you guys share your families memories past and present. Be Safe onto you next adventure. :)
Seriously, remember who we are. AMERICAN . For all that, we as a country are going through right now. We The People. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you. Very emotional . We were there in 18 as well. It got me then and again with your video. US Navy jet mechanic 5 years 1 months. This place will always get me like this. I know he must have planned it this way. Grateful!
Inspiring, uplifting & as always… beautifully captured! Thanks for sharing your lives & joy on the road! So many things pull us down, you guys always lift us up! ❤
Excellent episode, and during the rally too. Love the sounds. I didn’t make it this year, heard the numbers were way down. Wish you all well and Thank You for your service.
My best days were on a Harley and Sturgis when I was a young pup all of 18 years old was the most fun I've ever had. I was in the first month of pregnancy with my now 43 year old son and knew it so just being around the rolling thunder must have been made a part of him because that's what he wants to do next year, Sturgis. I do miss the thunder they make though. Family road trip for sure.
All photography is outstanding as usual. The 360 shots and drone shots were off the charts.
Thanks for sharing your lives and joy on the road! What an amazing episode!
One of my FAVORITE places to ride my Harley ♥️ Threading that needle and rolling the throttle is a blast!!
We were there in June, and our favorite was Custer State Park. Needles drive was amazing, seeing all the Buffalo (one walked right next to our truck and then ended with Iron Mountain and seeing the monument through the tunnels. PRICELESS!Spending time at the bad lands and Devils Tower. A once an lifetime trip for us!!
I have sang at the park twice. An experience I’ll never forget.
We visited Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial Sept. of 2016. South Dakota was even better than we expected. Thanks for the rekindled memories your story brought!
I've been up there twice, loved it all. I was up there one time with a group of ladies riding our mules. Beautiful country to ride in. My husband and I went the other time to ride mules with some other friends. Love to go back, so pretty up there.
Great video. We were there at night on the 20 year anniversary of 9/11. The ranger gave the same talk he gave twenty years ago on the night after 9/11. It was really inspiring and something I will never forget.
What a wonderful family trip. So glad you could enjoy the time with your mom and her hubby!
My favorite trip was that area… 2019, the last Friday of September, they have the Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park! it was fantastic to attend… of course that entire are is amazing and beautiful. God Bless America! Wishing you Safe Travels!
That area was one of my favorites on our trip! Can’t wait to go back to that area and stay again! So much to see & do!!
Iron mountain is a fave! Love Custer too! Spearfish canyon is adorable ! Waterfalls n flowers galore! Been many times . My hubby has a roadglide Harley. 😁😁😁. Oh yes Sylvan lake! Stayed there in a cabin before our RV days
We camped in Sylvan Lake campground with a popup camper for a week and hiked up to Harney Peak. Great memories. Thanks for sharing yours.
Remember the episode when you all were there last time….time flies!! Thank you for sharing, I can’t wait to go there soon!
We go to Sturgis Bike rally every other year. There is so much to explore and beautiful roads. Iron Mountain is my all time favorite road to ride.
The end of the video was especially amazing, as well as very touching. Thank you for the great video.
God bless America, My friends
All I can say as a non American is AWESOME 😍
Such good footage! Was so good to “be there again”. Thanks for sharing !!!
We took our F350 on the Needles and Iron Mountain Road last year. Such a cool drive.
Very touching. Thank you.
Amazing shot Corey of the bikers going into the tunnel with Mount Rushmore in the background!! The 360 was amazing too although it gave me motion sickness. I would be crawling through the tunnels. Surprised you didn’t have to pull in your mirrors.
I was at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, too. I was the guy riding the Harley around. Did you see me? It would have been so cool if we had crossed paths.
So cool! 2018 and now. I was there in April, day and night, but they didn’t have the night ceremony. Thanks for sharing!
Love that area. thanks for bringing the fun back
I love the Black hills!! Was there a few weeks ago. Drove the needle’s highway, and iron mountain road. Love driving the pigtails in my VW. I’m going to have to hit the night show at Mount Rushmore next time I’m there.

I love Mt. Rushmore vlogs 🇺🇸
Looks like a sweet rv park to stay at while wanting to see Rushmore, and the surrounding area. I can imagine the area was very busy with all the bikers there. It's good to see you get to spend time with family while enjoying the park.
Great Video, we have never been to Rushmore. I think we may try and do it next Summer. Looks Amazing and definitely going to have to look in to Keystone Rushmore view RV. Great pictures from 2018 and 2023, have to do that with our girls.
I LOVE the Black Hills! We've been several times since it's only a 6 hour drive.
We visited the Black Hills in August 2013. It was absolutely amazing.
We went Fulltime 3 years ago and picked Spearfish SD as our residency so we can come back. Love this area so much…..except when the white stuff hits 🥶

Did that trip from Michigan on a motorcycle with my husband, and sister and brother inlaw, way back in the mid 80s. We had a blast driving through Needles then went spelunking In the Wind Caves! Amazing trip!
Truly, honestly amazing.

We were there ( black hills) last fall and what a beautiful place.

Do you have a link for that campground?
