Not my opinion, but gauging by the outcome of the past few generations and almost 200 years of history, one of the greatest tragedies, if not THE greatest tragedies in all of human history was that Texas was annexed to this shit hole country of Luciferians of fake religious zealots, fake conservatives. This entire state is a nightmare, there is nowhere to escape to, there is nothing to get away from the over-development, greed, corruption and stupidity. You can hear the highways and byways from anywhere in the state now, there is o place for quiet, there is no place for self-reflection, only corporatist, military industrialist greed and "politics"... the entire state is controlled by big military, corporatist industrialist complex, an geo-political region of DUPES and PAWNS, the vast majority of which are clueless about anything in the real world as they are too busy trying to keep of with the Jones's!!! As a 6th generation Texan, a Son of the Republic, I can say that the only reason people come here for greed. Period. Oh yeah, and we all sorts of fake so-called "Christian" churches that in reality are the equivalents of the pharisees, saducees and gentiles, but while claiming to be enlightened by God. DFW is hot as hell 4 months out of the year and property taxes are sky high. It is not as cheap as people think. After forty years, if I could I would leave.

Do you know if Texas has any housing for fixed or low income? I’m in Oklahoma and wanting to move.

I currently live northwest of the greater Sacramento area (Yolo County) however originally from Arlington (moved for work in 2012 as traveling HC professional then FT now). Planning to move back to TX and debating on either DFW or Lubbock. How is the healthcare system...hospitals? I plan on retiring in 7 years and TX will be best for me than CA.

Great question. Healthcare is especially good in both places. One of Lubbocks main pulls is that it has 2 of the biggest hospitals in a 250 mile radius. DFW is great as well due to how large it is.

Just moved to Lubbock 1 months ago. Amazing to see how much construction going on.

How about overall education and research facilities, scorching heat due to UV light rays in many parts of Texas and the social ambience??

I lived in Houston for just over 16 years in Sandalwood/Lakeview!!! Those three Sandalwood lakes were a real life saver in those hot, humid summers!!! You will not freeze to death in those Houston hot, humid summers!!! But those afternoon thunderstorms are commonplace!!!

We gotta talk one of these days. Considering making Lubbock area our retirement destination. San Antonio/Austin corridor has just gotten insane. Alot can change in the next 6 years up by y'all but I don't think it will ever be as bad as the I-35 corridor.

I’m stuck……. I want to purchase a home in Lubbock and I’m in Odessa right now…… but it seems that the taxes are actually lower in Odessa/Midland areas and jobs are 15-25 starting meanwhile Lubbock is roughing it at 12-20 if your lucky …… I’d be able to live comfy at either spot. Lubbock does have nicer homes for your dollar though…….. 🤦‍♂️ it’s such a headache making a major choice like this

My uncle, C.E. Maedgen, was a bank president (before he died, of course), and there is an elementary school named after him, plus an administration building at McMurry University in Abilene. He was one of my grandfather's older brothers, all of whom became very wealthy, but my grandfather was an invalid and had fewer opportunities - he was also the youngest and stayed on the farm that his grandfather had established in central Texas. I live in Los Angeles and Palm Springs now, and I follow your advice and warn everyone I know or meet not to move (or even visit) Texas, even though my family has been in Texas for five generations on both sides. When my Uncle Charles died, my aunt wanted to sell all her stock in the bank and move back to New York, where she had been an opera singer. Most of my cousins (not all) wanted to stay in Lubbock and fight for control of the bank. This was written up in an article in Texas Monthly, and I believe the story made the cover, a couple of decades ago.

I know there’s a NASCAR track in Ft Worth but is there a local racing circuit..? My 16 yr old son wants to get into NASCAR. We live in Charlotte now

I was gonna move to Texas but few reasons why i decided not to. One is I am not gun or weapon person i was around that a lot in the service. Second the weather, i was at Houston for few days during the summer omg i felt like i was gonna melt. Lastly, the property taxes on houses are insane!!!! But in Texas they do treat veterans better than California for my experience. Overall i met people in Texas very nice and helpful! Greetings from California!:)

Dallas may be liberal, but I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area. I would be very surprised if any city in Texas, including Austin, is more liberal than San Francisco.

I enjoyed living in CA, KS, CO, NE, AL, and OH. It let me learn about those states. Yet, I never tried to influence their cultural make-up.

Tezas big on sports but but when you compare it to california Texas will always be second class...hahaha. california has won more sports championships from basketball football baseball etc.Also when it comes to college university championships UCLA has won the most national titles then any other university in the country with over 100 and counting...and last but not least..2 of the G.O.A.T...in sports are born in california from football Tom Brady & Tennis Serena Williams are both native californians...Texans are nothing but loud mouths always claiming t be the best state then they compared there state to california and california beats them in every catagory...
