Yellow guys description of what the opposite of down was at the beginning was the exact thing that happened in the episode “it’s when you can’t remember that over the top of you there’s bigger ones that are bigger and bigger and then over the top of it there’s a smaller one of all of it and the top of that” In episode 5 he also described it in the intro too

In episode 2 Duck has a mix tape song he made that is also the end credit song. The lyrics are When you meet a business man, you must shake him by the hand, When you meet a family man, you must shake him by the hand, When you meet the choo choo man, you must shake him by the hand, When you meet the friendly fellow, you must shake him by the hand, When you meet the plug-in man, you must shake him by the hand. [Yellow Guy]: I'm trying to sleep! He described pretty much every teacher

I like how they build the tragedy of Lesley as a character. Her narration in episode 5 that suddenly ended in her screaming, the "Chuddle Dollops" representing her family, the shovel from death and the bateries representing her coping mecanism agains her loss. I really love how in this 6 episodes we have solid moments of comedy but then the last two gives us an invite to watch everything again trying to recontextualize all the events into a bigger narrative! This show is shear genius and with this ending we can gladly wait another season... or see how our three fellas stay far away from the stairs and more into Lesley´s world!

sounds like a reddit-tier theory. The writers said in interviews they don't want to push certain messages or deeper meaning behind the episodes, it's designed to be timeless and open to interpretation. That's why they throw in random obscure moments like the next doorway upstairs in Lesley's room. They intentionally let the viewer's imagination wander, that's what makes it so good.

The fact that Lesley seems to control their reality, yet she herself is part of the miniature dollhouse that allows her to control them, and the fact that there’s clearly at least one more floor above her, really shows how far this rabbit hole might go. If the original series was about (and this is just one theory of many, it’s not necessarily correct) creative people going independent to escape the increasingly corporate world of TV, then this series seems to serve as a thematic sequel to the original, rather than a DIRECT sequel to it, where the theme of going your own way to forge your own creation was achieved, but it slowly just went back to what they tried to escape, kind of like how they started on KZread to avoid the restrictions of TV, but now they’re on TV.

There are any number of theories, but the best explanation I've heard for this episode is that it's sort of a dramatization of Plato's allegory of the cave. The "three of us" are a society chained in a cave ("dancing in chains") whose reality is defined by shadows of puppets cast from behind them (the teachers). If a member of this society escapes to the outside world, he will at first be scared and unnerved by the new reality. But once he comes to accept it, he will want to go back and free his friends from their false reality. The trouble is that the chained society will assume he is insane, and perhaps even kill him, since he threatens their entire belief system. In this case, it's the book that challenges the reality of this world, and Yellow Guy himself rejects it after losing his battery power and illumination. There is foreshadowing that Yellow Guy is battery powered in episode 4, with Warren the Worm EAGLE! When we go down Yellow Guy's ear canal, there are loose wires sticking out (along with a complete model of their entire house!) When the printout appears with the diagnosis that he's got a worm in his brain, there are symbols indicating his brain's connection to batteries. There are other theories floating around that Yellow Guy is named David, and that he was once a real boy run over by a car (as in episode 5). There's been a D on his overalls from the very beginning, and the coffin man in episode 2 initially picked him as the dead member. DAVID on the tombstone (in this theory) indicates the coffin man was right in the first place. In the family episode, when duck takes out pictures of live people, one photo appears to be a younger Leslie (without the stitches) smiling alongside a young boy.

You know, you're right; there's a surprising amount of teachers in this single episode. And they seem to keep appearing whenever they start questioning things (mainly the mirror that tries to interrupt Yellow when he sees the stairs in the reflection, as well as the teachers in the 'Big Boys' Room').... I have a theory: what if everything in this show is some higher power's way of distracting them from escaping? As Yellow Guy ascends the stairs, the floors seem to be tempting him; the 'Big Boys' Room' tries to appeal to his desire for knowledge by providing two lessons at once, but it's ultimately the teachers that drive him away; the 'Bigger Boys' Room' seems to realize the previous floor's mistake and ditches the teachers in favor of actual experiments, but it misses the humanity that Yellow still has, turning him off from pursuing answers; and Lesley's room provides him with an intriguing mystery that he actually wants answers to, and this is what ultimately makes him turn back. But what if Leslie and the mystery behind her 'son' is just another distraction keeping the characters (and even us theorists) from ascending those stairs and finding out the truth? There's clearly an answer begging to be found, but that's what makes it so alluring - it made Yellow Guy turn back, at least.

No one talks about the urn Red Guy breaks having Duck's face on it, meaning it's either a relative of Duck's or, more likely, the actual duck and the current one is Stain Edwards (or the one in the urn is Stain and the current one is the real one).

I think Lesley is there just to distract yellow guy and stop him from finding out the true nature of his reality. Theres a floor above her and the floors below are there just to try and stop yellow guy from going up further. Then Lesley gets rid of yellow guy by giving him the "answers" he wants, but really theres nothing in that book. She knows he goes back down and gets changed and shreds the book. Maybe one day he will make it to the floor above her.

I would like to share my theory of what is happening here. Apologies if things seem incoherent. Yellow Guy is a recreation of Leslie's son, David. I first want to talk about what Yellow Guy is. Throughout the show, we are shown that Yellow is made of wires, and meat. The wires were given ample explanation in the Friendship, Transport, and Electricity episodes; he's powered by a pair of batteries. It also seems that his brain runs on batteries (as seen in Friendship, with the diagram showing his brain), which explains why he's so dumb when running on corroded batteries. Secondly, they REALLY seem to be leaning into Yellow being a pig. Not only does he call himself a yellow pig in the Death intro, but he can be heard squealing like one during the Friendship outro. Pig meat has often been used for training mannequins due to similar bodily makeup to humans. With this, we can infer that Yellow is a battery-powered pig made to look like a human. Now we need to explain why someone would want to make such a thing. The obvious answer is Leslie made him, but why? We're actually told a few times throughout the show. When we first meet Leslie, she has three things hung up on the wall; the Chuddle Dollops from the Family episode, the Shovel from the Death episode, and the Batteries from the Electricity episode. There were only two dollops in the Chuddle Dollop bag, the shovel was used to dig somebody up, and the batteries were used to power something. And during the Transport episode, its implied that she had something to do with a car accident (as her name is seen on the Transport license plate). During Yellow's dream in that episode, we can hear her screaming for Yellow to be careful before Yellow gets run over by a car. And the most obvious piece of information given; is that Yellow is not her real son, she says as much. While vague, this is how I understood it. The Chuddle Dollops represent that she had a family. A small family, it was just her and her son; two dollops. At some point, a car struck and killed her son. She couldn't live with the grief. She went on to dig him up and reanimate him as best she could. But it wasn't the same, he wasn't her son anymore he was something else now. And Leslie, driven insane by grief and sorrow... well she just found it so, so funny. And we also have a name for this son; David. The name only really comes up during the Death episode, but there are so many pointers that its meant to be Yellow Guy that it can't really be overlooked. And thus; Yellow Guy is a recreation of Leslie's son, David.

There's definitely a loop and the batteries in the display case indicate that this episode has probably happened before too. If so then I think there are multiple versions of the book which would need to be replaced in each loop. Lesley clearly has no intention of them actually reading the book though. She refers to the lights being out on the ground floor and says "I'll have to do something about that". However the lights are still out when Yellow Guy gets back downstairs. Lesley's "doing something" is making sure that they swap the batteries back over leading to Yellow Guy shredding the book. Now if he could only find a way to come back downstairs with a spare set of working batteries ...... hmmmm.

Yeah, but I think she did keep her promise, though... Because in the dump in Transport, Robin does "visual inventory", looks at Harry and says: "One piece of filth", then at Manny, and says: "One bag of meat", and immediately continues, "...one cooking fire, one deadly weapon, one soft skull..." and that's when Yellow Guy suddenly turns, being startled at what is happening, before Lesley brings them home, to the repaired dollhouse, that's in the intro of Electricity... (not necessarily where the episode takes place, since they all die on the same day, in the same way, but at different locations - and on that note, which is their Annual Computer Day? 19th or 20th?).

I recommend you watch a few more DHMIS theories but here is the basic premise: Lesley is the mother of the human version of yellow guy. The house may have been created from Lesley's grief. The characters Yellow Guy, Red Guy and Duck probably all died before the actual show and where 'brought back to life' as puppets. This is why Lesley is stitched but not a puppet; she metaphorically died when Yellow Guy died, but not physically, so she is in between. Even Roy, who is extremely powerful throughout the show (he can be seen behind the scenes when duck knocks over the camera in one of the season 1 episodes), still probably died, as when you look very closely at the neighbours that Yellow Guy meets in his dream, one of them looks like Roy but human; boasting a sideways nose and oval shaped eyes (this may just be a reference to Roy always watching though). Most likely the thing at the top of the stairs above Lesley are the creators of the show, as they have absolute power over what happens (although I think it may be Roy and the entire dead thing might be wrong but idk). It should come as no surprise that the book contained the means of escaping this place, but theorists have actually gone into LINGUISTICS to find what the symbols mean. Ultimately 3 out of the 6 symbols on the cover of the book are the names of Yellow Guy, Red Guy and Duck, although not much else is known. All in all, the narrative is quite cryptic and I think it also strongly depends on how cannon you believe Season 1 was: Was it a dream? Is it fully cannon? Did it never happen in this narrative? If Season 1 is fully cannon is Red Guy one of the creators of the show? Is that how he is so aware? Does Roy have as much power as the creators? He did most likely sponsor Red Guy and is mentioned at the end of all credits, so he must have contributed to the show somehow. How does Lesley fit into this? Is Red Guy really dead, is his Season 1 flashback his past life? I glossed over a lot of other information but I hope this helps give a few answers, and raise A LOT more questions.

I think the things on the wall are the representation things that would free each character from there "Chains" . Like the batteries Freed Yellow guy from his chains, then free red guy from his, . So I believe if they ever do another series the duck would have his chance at seeing what's really going on. it will be based around either what the the chips represented in that episode or what that episode was talking about talking about which is family. Duck might need to be left on his own in some way shape or form to then gain the knowledge Of what's truly happening.

There’s a theory that Leslie had a son named David who moved into a new neighborhood That she unfortunately hit him in a car crash And the reason to why she says yellow guy is her favorite and he’s not her real son is because he is supposed to represent David and that the lessons the characters learn are the lessons she would have teach David if he was still with her and the reasons why the lessons that characters learned are messed up and wrong is because of her guilt of crashing into her son although that’s just my opinion which means this probably is not true

You should react to the time loop theory video by RemGames. It explains what this show’s about and how the show is just a time loop!

That's a toughy! The TV series has more time to flesh things out a bit, while still staying mysterious. The webseries was able to feel creepier in a more twisted way that the TV series probably wouldn't have been able to pull off. I love both honestly and both are very rewatchable too. I will say both had 1 episode that wasn't as good as the others.

There is technically 1 more thing from DHMIS. The pilot for the tv series. It’s called Wakey Wakey. It only aired like once to a crowd of people and the only footage of it is from a hand held camera in the crowd and someone tried to put it all together and this is the link to the reconstruction. I say this cause the town the live in in Wakey Wakey is named on the black board in the big boy room drive.google.com/file/d/1rAMeZxV0ImS3s-eu0CniM9VhwbM0dLcy/view Some things jump around cause some things weren’t recorded
