Now that is interesting. I used to pass through Gympie from either direction and have "known" it for something like 50 years. Someone once asked me what it was like and I swear I said the following: "Well, it's kind of a strange place. It has this air about it of "who am I, why am I here...?" It's now 20 years ago that I last saw it, but from what you are saying, it seems that it hasn't changed much.

The rattler is actually a lot better now that the line is half as long. By the third hour of the trip you've had enough which is good because that's when the train pulls back into Gimpy station. It's a nice day out of wine/beer/cheese + lunch. Well unless you buy a cheap seat, then it's just 3 hours of coal smoak and scenery.

Doesn't matter it costs a large fortune to live in Noosa/Sunshine Coast/Nambour they are all heading north so Struggle Town's got a new life for it mushrooming now expensive land and house packages on small arsed blocks of land just like the rest of South East Queensland.

Let's hope it stays that way. I'm stopping in next week.

Gympie is also the poor shaming capital of oz. Where the locals may not be overly rich, but have a very dim view of their fellow poorer folk. We are also a very safe national party seat which is why it is the poor shaming capital of oz. I cut one of my heads off when I moved to widgee . 20 mins west of Gympie
