Regardless of the trends, your home should be decorated, painted, lighted, etc. and have accessories that you like, thus making your home your sanctuary!

I’ve never followed trendy colors. It only perpetuates consumerism. I surround myself with the colors I love. Because about every 10 years the colors recycle as trendy they are available again. Plus I want the color around me to make me feel good, not impress others. Style is better than trends.

Anyone who trolls you has zero design sense, or any sense at all. So many people watch influencers, who manage to put one style together fairly well and then preach that is the only style that is worthy. I far prefer you and your actual education in interior design, and your ability to advise on any design style, not just the one you choose to live in. Keep being your brilliant self young man, the majority of your viewers are very, very grateful for you.

I'm always attracted to those colours, too. They make me happy. ☺️

I am old enough to have seen all these trends come, then go. And now make a comeback. Had a folding screen as newlyweds in the mid 70’s; track lights in the 80’s in our home. My son’s bedding and accessories were blue for years. We had a couple of solid rugs. Never had an actual daybed, but we had an old folding cot I slept on as a small child from the 50’s. I dressed it up to look like a day bed. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Oh no ! Do people write unkind things to you … I’m sorry to hear that. I personally think your house is beautiful, your videos are interesting and fun, love your sense of humour 😊. Keep up the good work

I avoid reading KZread comments for the most part, so I didn't see people claiming blue is dated. How can blue be dated? Is the sky dated? Ridiculous.

My thought exactly!

When I see warm white it makes me think of white walls that are covered by tar from people smoking inside.

I loved blue for many years. It was part of my decor for nearly 25 years. I needed a break and this past summer I got rid of all the blue in my home and went with black and gold and white. I do have some artwork from Erte and Marc Chagall that have a lot of blues in them and, of course, I kept them. You are so right that you should surround yourself with colors and things you love and not care too much about what is trending.

The best thing about Garrett is that he informs but always says "you do you." He loves blue, I love green. And that's okay. Thank you, Garrett.

I subscribed to your channel a few years ago. I was so enamored with your blue and white pottery that I started collecting it myself. In the last year I have noticed that every house on some of the shows that feature wealthy homeowners have substantial amounts of this chinoiserie pottery. Back in the day, it was a sign of wealth. You were ahead of the fray! The trolls are amateurs!

Versions of track lighting have survived for decades. It survives because it works for many designs, like directed lighting.

Hi Garrett! I am glad blue is back although never got rid of blue anyway. Royal blue, emerald green and cream colors together is what I like. Plus calming with rich colors. I am a senior citizen statistic. Fell on throw rug, fell and broke hip, in hospital almost 2 months, just got home. Great video.

I hate track lighting. I also love carpet which most people hate. 🤷‍♀️

I love blue. Just painted my bedroom, all of it, Hale Navy. LOVE IT! Most of my home is shades of blue (a bit of warm grey and Greek villa white) I will also always go with dark hardwood floors. I’m accidentally IN. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣✌🏼

You can have any wall to wall carpet bound and made into any size so they are even better than area rugs because you can get it to fit your space and have all the furniture fit on it properly.

I have never seen you this annoyed and secretly love the sass directed 😂😂❤❤

It’s s a track it’s a track oh the track is back! Watching and hoping vertical blinds don’t make the cut. Woo hoo get the Barcelona daybed! My favorite

I made 2 daybed/sofas by cutting a full mattress in half. It was already on a frame that splits into two. I sent to Turkey for a grey velvet majlis set and it worked out wonderfully. I love my sofas and in a pinch it can sleep 2 people. The frame is high so I can store stuff under it in pretty containers/baskets. Arranged in an L shape with a small console/table at each end acting as armrests. I love chinoiserie too and am glad it's back.

I adore blue and your decorating style. My living room is teal and my bedroom is a beautiful blue gray. Everyone who sees my house comments on the beautiful colors. I also love the way you make design accessible for average people. And your hair transplant has a fabulous hair line. If that was the source of hater comments, they are just wrong. Good for you for doing something to improve how you feel about yourself.

I think an “unhinged” Garrett is pretty entertaining 😊 keep it up!

*Blue* . I never thought I would jump on the "Navy" train, but here I am painting an accent wall in my bedroom Sherwin Williams Naval. The other walls will be Leather Work by Behr and I'm color drenching everything for a dark and moody vibe.

I'm down with all of this EXCEPT the track lighting. I'm 59 and never liked it. 😂

Glad the fight is between Turkish rugs and plain rugs, while i am cosy with my original Persian rugs with no shoe, sipping my tea watching them fight. 😂

My daybed is a sofa sleeper. I’m needing a rug for my new living room and am considering a nice broadloom (carpet), cut to my size/shape and bound. So glad to hear solid rugs are ok.

I LIKE track lighting. It has a modern/industrial vibe.

Garrett, watching your videos while I was planning my redecoration made me realize I also LOVE BLUE! I incorporated it where ever I could. A throw pillow, a vase, some books etc. The first time I saw your rooms with that blue and gold vibe….I knew I was hooked! And I know I will love it forever because it’s not a trend, it’s a way of life! 👏👏👏

Good to know that my PPG "Silver Blueberry" bedroom is now trendy. But it really doesn't matter because I will love blue always and forever. I still think often the blue/rust/cream palette I used in my apartment living room in 1972 -- and I wish I could recreate that living room now, right down to the Picasso (print, of course) "Homage to the Sun." Well, maybe not, because that image has been done to death but I promise it was tres chic in 1972. 🙂

I Love my daybeds! We had a couple built into a large, seemingly pointless alcove in our basement and now they're the perfect place to hang out, rest, read, and my nieces love sleeping there when they visit!

The blue trend is fortuitous, since I am using a few blue elements in my home.

Pro tip: Screens work wonders to hide big ugly TVs. If you only use your TV to occasionally watch movies, just get a TV stand on wheels and elegantly wheel the TV behind the screen when not in use.

Except for early 70s chartreuse green, yellow and orange. And don't forget the wood paneling and lovely popcorn ceilings.....😁

Blue is great. I have a navy velvet sofa. The accent color in the master bath (we're in the middle of renovation) is going to be blue. It's going to be super. We don't care if it's in style or not. The haters are too insecure to do what they like, and bite themselves with envy of anyone with their own style.

Haters are people who don't understand how to think for themselves. Please don't worry at all about them. You're fabulous.

Trolls and rude people are wasting their time on our channel because I don’t even see their comments. 🤣🤣🤣

I am so glad about the blues ... we just completed the interior of our beach house with a range of light to navy blues in lamp shades, turkish rugs, cushions, blue and white chinoiserie and art work. Just love it! Oh yes and a blue day bed in the study room. Thanks for the confirmation that I am on track, although I would have done it anyway. Ignore the haters, you have tons of fans!❤

I love, love, love blue! Every wall in my house is painted ash blue, and I have darker blue accents in every room. It's peaceful, warm, and inviting.

I have a 1920 's carved, caned daybed, great for lounging, napping, and plenty of pillows to support as a couch. Royal blue recliners that pull blue from my rug that reminds me of Klimt's The Kiss, and a carved wooden indonesian screen on loan from my daughter. The wood matches my 1912 mahogany grand piano. You don't notice that my walls are all a warm birch white. (And, deep aubergine drapes) life is short, love your space.

I have a lot of blue in my house. I like it too. Some colors like red can get tired but blue never does.

Glad these are back. For me, a deep rich royal or navy blue in velvet is a favorite. In trend or not, nothing beats a solid, thick, soft rug. May I never get so old that I can't play on the floor with my dogs or sprawl papers out when working on a project. I usually put double padding under mine so they are super cushy. My "hesitation one" is the warm white walls. It would have to be just perfect or it could go wrong fast.

I love the blue that’s in now. That deep rich color blue is beautiful. I just did my bedroom with accessories that beautiful blue. I don’t understand people who would say that blue is ever out of style. It’s great color at any time. I think blue never goes out of style.

Thanks so much! I try to share the many things I learned from getting an interior design degree to help others which I do across my videos. Style is important but allot of people can pick out pretty things. However, the technical aspects you learn in school or at least from a significant design apprenticeship is where the magic happens and what pulls everything together regardless of personal design tastes. That’s what I feel I have mostly to offer subscribers in a fun and non judgmental way.

Blue just isn't for me, I feel intensely uncomfortable if I wear more than one thing that's blue or if my home has a lot of blue. But I love seeing other people follow their bliss and it's so much fun to see other styles 😊

Omg I can’t believe a screen are coming back. In the nineties I use to live in Okinawa Japan. I had a beautiful Asian floor screen. Return to USA in the beginning of 2000. I move to a very small house. It hurt but I gave to the Salvation Army 😢😢.

Blue green off-white white!! (Pop of yellow or ornage, or both)

The big difference between the 70s warm white/ wood tones and the 2023 warm white/ wood tones is that warm white is brighter. In the 70's all paint had an unhealthy nicotine flavor, even as it was being applied.
