Don’t Do This To Your Chainsaw - E10 fuel test results after 6 months.

Ойын-сауық

Can you use E10 fuel in your chainsaw? James and Ryan answer that very question on whether you can use E10 fuel in your STIHL chainsaw.
This video is part one of two videos where we will be comparing E10 fuel against STIHL MotoMix. STIHL MotoMix is an optimised 1:50 premixed fuel for all STIHL engines. The patented fuel formula and STIHL HP Ultra engine oil ensure maximum performance and offer a consistent level of protection for the internal components. In addition to ease of handling and environmental benefits, three key aspects are at the centre of STIHL fuels - people, machines and the environment.

    I think the main problem with stale fuel isn't that your machine won't start, it's that it won't start at all, even if you put motomix after. Benzene, which is what regular pump gas contains, will stiffen rubber over time, especially if left sitting. Add a bit of alcohol to the mix, and that effect is intensified. I've seen 2-3 year old saws running pump gas needing carb membranes and fuel lines changed, but never saw such a problem in alkylated gas (motomix, aspen etc). If you're not cutting alot, or you plan to store your saws, fill them up with alkylated fuel. It's well worth the extra money.

    I was considering buying a second hand (smaller like ms180) but seeing how cheap everyone is running regular gas.. i just might get a new one.. i run stihl gas in mine anyways.. cause most of the time u need a chainsaw like once a year.. or 2.. and its the worst when u got a tree down but ur saw doesnt start anymore..

    Flooded!!! Add this video to your fitness playlist 😂 I will say in all honesty, the E-10 stored in the saw was not a surprise. I find fuel with oil mixed in stay viable much longer that plain petrol. In a container, I can see how it would degrade rapidly, and be a non-starter. Cheers!

    Found this to be very useful and probably have suffered from the issue of leaving fuel in for an extended period of time, I will definitely be more careful to drain and run dry in future before storing away. But my problem was because my MS 180 is at our property in France and I used it February 2019 with intentions of doing so again in May 2019, but covid restrictions scuppered all good intentions. So having finally having got there in June this year I got about 20 minutes use from the saw and it is now undergoing surgery (probably gummed up carb) at a local dealer, as I had to come back to uk but hopefully all will be well with it when I go back in September.

    All u need to do is just run the stihl 2t gass with the chainsaw.. that gass is beter for the environment and also doesnt go bad.. so ur saw wont go bad every other time.. yes its more expensive.. but yea not many other options..if u run it dry u got more chance of dust/dirt getting in also..

    Want really good advice? Buy Aspen 4 (4 cycle alkylate fuel-blue 5 litre can). Mix this fuel 50:1 in a quantity you want or need with Red Armor oil for all your 2 cycle engines/machines. (Or whatever ratio your machine uses). Use the 4 cycle in your 4 cycle engines, especially for storage, such as your lawnmover, outboard, generator, what ever you have that uses 4 cycle . All fuel problems solved.😊😊😊

    Aspen is the same principle as Motomix, it’s an alkylate fuel. I’m interested to know why you would buy Aspen 4 and mix yourself when Aspen also have Apsen 2 which comes pre mixed? Do you prefer to do it this way?

  • @MJ-qm7ke

    @MJ-qm7ke

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MachineryNation Yes, this is the best of both worlds. The Red Armor 2 stroke oil is superior, basically the best 2 stroke oil you can buy. Chickanic and many others endorse it. The 2 stroke aspen is identical to the 4 stroke except that it has oil already added at the factory. But you cannot use the 2 stroke in your 4 stroke engines, such as your lawnmower etc. I don’t use the Aspen 4 cycle except for when I am winterizing the engines, throughout the spring summer fall season I use 94 octane ethanol free gas ( that’s what’s available here…, use the highest octane non ethanol gas in your area). I since I use my 2 stroke equipment only once very 2 weeks I use the Aspen with the Red Armor oil in those. They all start on the very first pull. Same with the 4 strokes after the winter. There are some very good videos on KZread from Aspen and Motomix about the composition of their fuels. They don’t contain many of the bad chemicals nor ethanol and are therefore much costlier to produce. Here in Vancouver Canada I buy the blue 4 stroke Aspen 5 litre (1.3 gallon) container for $30, and it lasts me all year. The red Armor oil you can get at Home Depot. Like Chickanic says….80%!!! Of the equipment that comes to the shop come in with 1 problem. Bad fuel (gas) or bad fuel related problems, such as hardening of the fuel lines, diaphragms etc. Hope you find this helpful. 😀 Mike
